Peace and Relaxation

  • 4 of 5

My family and I enjoyed a relaxing, low tech retreat! I can't wait to do it again. Good food combined with a comfortable home and a fire made this a perfect trip. Thank you Lynette!

We enjoyed our stay at this cottage very much. It has a very nice comfortable cabin, a great floor plan, with large outside deck surrounded by pine trees. Definitely recommend.

A Family Home Owner Let's You Use

  • 2 of 5

This home is exactly as photographed and that's good! It's in a rural area and beware that MapQuest steers you the wrong way. The driveway is partially paved (full of potholes) becomes a dirt driveway, and is also very steep. Something you don't know until you book...upon arrival you have to turn on the water and the electricity which is fine if your hubby is handy like mine. As for the title, this is a family home that the owners want to use to make some money, meaning it feels lived in verses a clean and decorated home catering to guests only. Some of the furnishings and décor are a bit outdated. Unfortunately for us, the house was not cleaned thoroughly for our visit; the toilet had urine on it, there was dirt on the floor, crumbs on the carpet, personal laundry left in the dryer, and the twin bunks were a mess with the spreads and pillows tossed haphazardly on. The king bedspread had a sizeable hole in it. One smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling. Note: there are no curtains in the house, so be prepared to be awake at sunrise. I am self employed, take care of 15+ vacation homes in a tourist town, and I was a bit disappointed as this house was not quite ready for guests. The positives... peaceful setting, quiet area, the king bed was very cozy with a nice mattress topper on it, plenty of kitchen contents for cooking, comfy sofa, plenty of firewood for a nice fire, and pets are allowed.

Owner's Response: The hope is that every traveler would enjoy the cottage while finding peace and rest in it's relaxed atmosphere. The vacation home is located in the mountains with a steep driveway paved in road base and regularly maintained. The short public access road leading to the driveway does have some rough spots. A cleaning service comes in and does a thorough cleaning after each renter leaves. There has never been an issue with the cleanliness. This matter will be addressed. The downstairs bedroom has shades for complete black out. The upstairs bedroom has a skylight and two uncovered windows which are framed by pine trees. The smattering of antiques found there add to the charm of the cottage feel.

Nice cozy cottage with a fireplace and lots of good seasoned firewood!!!

  • 4 of 5

Wife and I went for a 3 night getaway. Nice cozy little cottage back in the woods. Really nice owner. Only problem we had is when we went to use the barbecue the propane bottle was empty. Ended up going to town for Mexican food which was pretty good. Overall, nice place to stay!!

Nice house. Had a great time. Driveway is hard to get to top with a 2 wheel drive. Would do it again.

Thank you,
