About the Owner

My husband and I were looking for a lakefront lot. When we couldn't find any, we started looking at older cottages that we could renovate. This cottage was partially renovated. We fell in love with it from the first time we saw it. The house and grounds had a charm we just couldn't stop thinking about. We purchased the property then spent a year getting it ready for vacationing families.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had soo much fun at Abby’s Lake House! We went fishing, canoeing, swimming and so much more. My brother and my mom caught tons of fish. I didn’t fish all that much so I caught zero fish. My dad tipped in the canoe twice. We made a fire and roasted marshmallows 3 times. No matter what we were doing at Abby’s Lake House, we were always having fun! Bye! - Philadelphia, PA

Sleepless nights

  • 2 of 5

This lake house has plenty of space, especially in the kitchen. The major problem was the uncomfortable beds and the constant noisy traffic right next to the house. This house is right on the road on the way to a quarry. We got no rest and the fishing was poor. We left two days early. Would not recommend if you like a good night's sleep.

Beautiful property, will definitely be back

  • 5 of 5

We came up from Florida for a mini family reunion, judging by the photos I was a little nervous about having enough room. However once we arrived it was more than I could have hoped for. This is an absolutely beautiful property! Its obvious the owners take great pride in maintaining it. I can't even list all the amenities, so many "little things" that you never think of until you realize you don't have them. Finding this gem will surely increase my visits to my home state.

Our favorite vacation rental in NEPA, again

  • 5 of 5

We often challenge ourselves (our family) to look for other rentals to stay at on our summer vacations in PA, but always coming back to this one. Wonderful owners, whom take pride in their place, and make sure their guests feel right at home. I enjoy taking my daily walks around acre lake, while my husband and sons enjoy their daily fishing, from the front yard. Thanks again Lori and Clay, for making our vacation memorable.

Wonderful mini ski vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful mini ski weekend at Abby's Lake House. What a comfortable and cozy place you have. Every need that we had was thought of and taken care of. The beds were wonderful and the kids were happy with the WIFI. We loved watching the birds come to the feeder right outside our window. We skied at Elk Mountain which was only a short drive away, and stopped for some dinner down the road at a pleasant family eatery. Their desserts were unbelievable! Thank you again for making our stay one that we will remember!

I would recommend this property to anyone looking to have a good time. This place made us feel like it was home as soon as we walked in. So many different things to do just at the home (example: boating, swimming, yard games, board games, video games, fishing, cooking out, etc..) I am a big fisherman and just off the shore in front of the house I caught a large mouth bass, sunfish, and yellow perch. Took the canoe out and catch bass, crappie, and pickerel.

Awesome weekend!!

  • 5 of 5

We we were looking for a place close to Elk Mountain so we could ski and then have a nice place to come back to hang out with family. We had 8 adults and the Lake House accommodated us all with room to spare. It is purely as advertised in all of the other reviews. You really just need to bring food and clothes because Lori and Clay have provided everything else. The kitchen was my favorite room, and not because I cook. It was just sooo cool with the high table and chairs, the thick rustic wooden beams, and the neat assortment of hanging baskets. We ate at the table, I worked from the table and at night we played games at the table. And from the table you had a great view of the lake from two different windows. I could see the summer toys they have in the garage, the kayaks, the sailboat, canoes, and rowboats, and read about the fabulous fishing and would love to bring the family back for some summer fun as well. Oh yeah, and they welcomed our dog to come. BONUS!! Great job Lori and Clay. Thanks so much!!

From the Owner

Eventually we would like to retire here. The lake is a nice size: not too small to have fun but not so big that there's a ton of people using it. Neighbors here are really friendly. Great location: it's easy to get here from Interstate 81 (2 miles from Exit 211) and about 25 minute drive to Scranton, PA. We live 20 mile north, so we can take care of the property ourselves and personally check-in our guests. Sharing such a wonderful place is really a fun. It's a joy to see happy families having good times and making memories together.

Activity and Interests

Fishing, boating, swimming, bird watching, lawn games, board games, PS2 console and games, watching movies, baking cookies (2 ovens and lots of cookie cutters).
