Amazing Value for an amazing view

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property for our annual 'family mountain get-together', despite Hurricane Irma's best attempts to wipe out this event. We usually rent large, 'over-indulgent' homes since kids and grandkids usually attend (up to 12 in our group), but scaled back this year since the grandkids were in school. Our first priority was an entry that would accommodate our 90 year old mother who walks with a cane, followed by allowing pets (2 small dogs), didn't require 4-wheel drive, location (close to Franklin, Highlands, and Cashiers) and a view. The gently inclined walkway was easy enough for mom to negotiate, the fenced-in pet yard/deck was perfect for pets, the road is steep but manageable, location almost in the center of those 3 towns, and the view trumped our expectations. As a bonus, parking is more than ample as we had local family and friends over, and the enormous deck was perfect for entertaining them. The garage turned out to be a bigger amenity than the game room since my mom and sisters try to deplete the inventory of every store within driving distance, it became our personal warehouse. We never needed to contact the owner or maintenance person for anything during our stay so I can't comment on that aspect, but Mr. Hibner was quick to respond to any questions. For the price, I can't believe there's a better value, and I've reviewed (and rented) a lot of properties in the area. If luxury is a priority, this is not your destination. Furnishings are basic, but more than enough. It was large enough for 6 adults, but over that it might get tight. The bedrooms aren't big (except the loft), but we were only in them to sleep and dress. If I had to find a fault it would be lack of a half-bathroom, 4 adults sharing the one downstairs bathroom gets busy, but we could always go to the loft and use that one. Again, for the price, it's worth the wait.

As far as activities nearby, the guys golfed at Sequoya National (probably the most beautiful course we've ever played), Sapphire Valley, and in Franklin. We intended to play pickleball at the Parker Meadows complex but never made it. The road from Highlands to Franklin (hwy 64) is one of the most scenic roads in the region, with tons of waterfalls. Lake Glenville (20 minutes away) was a tad chilly for swimming, but offers ample public access.

In the end, everyone in our group agreed we would return here for our next mountain getaway (or our own family vacations), and that is a feat in itself.

Peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

if our family could sum our stay in Franklin here in one word - "peaceful" comes to mind. With beautiful views, quiet and seclusion we got just what we were looking for. The house is in good shape but the real highlight are the mountain views and surrounding woods. We managed to lock ourselves out of the downstairs bathroom but Bob was able to get someone over to fix it within a day. he also gave us some great reccommendations about hiking trails, waterfalls, and horseback riding. Wish we could have stayed longer. We sure hope to be back .

Views for days!

  • 5 of 5

This house was simply amazing to stay at! We had a great girls trip, including exploring nearby waterfalls and always ending in a relaxing sunset dinner on the porch with unparalleled views. The pool table was just the icing on the cake! Bob was a great host, we will be back next year!

Amazing!! Rent it before is gone!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 10 days at this property. It has everything you need for a great vacation. Very secured, secluded, away from the city noise, yet only 10 minutes from Walmart and other stores. We even went to the movies on one day. With an enclosed wraparound deck conected to a huge fenced yard, our dog was as happy as we were. Bob is only an email away. The cabin has wifi and everything else you may need. Well stocked kitchen, hot water, TV satellite, fireplace, fire pit, etc.

We also enjoyed the pool table and games.

Waterfalls everywhere within 15 minutes. I recommend Dry Falls (breathtaking). Sylva town 45 minutes away has great waterfalls in the area.

Jessica, the housekeeper, is great. She goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable.

Thank You Bob for everything!!!

The Best of Everything

  • 4 of 5

Gorgeous view, delightful deck and comfortable house. This rental has it all. I was impressed with the amenities in the kitchen. There was plenty of room for four women to enjoy the evenings after a hard day of work. We used the grill for dinner, ate breakfast outside and enjoyed sitting at the fire pit.

The trip up mountain was a little unnerving and I would not recommend attempting it for the first time in the dark! There is no hone reception but there is internet and Dish TV. The landline kept us connected to the world.

We hope to return next year when we are back in Franklin for business.

Beautiful home with amazing views !!

  • 5 of 5

Yes we absolutely enjoyed our stay !! It was the perfect place for us and enjoyed every bit of the home ..it rained alot while there but when it was nice we enjoyed looking at the views relaxing by the fire pit, eating grilled meals out on the deck and kids and dog loved running around the fenced in yard ! When it was raining there was more than enough room for us all to enjoy the home ..the pool table helped keep everyone busy! Kitchen was well equipped, everything you needed was there and plenty of towels. Took a day trip into highlands to shop the shops and explored the waterfalls along the way ! The home is located up in the mountains and you do have to travel some steep dirt/gravel roads to get there but once you got to the home you feel like you're in your own bit of paradise in the mountains ! If we are ever in the area again we would definitely book this home again!!
