Very peaceful, beautiful and inspiring and practical.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our time at 1st Chair Chalet. It is efficient, comfortable, and close to the slopes. We enjoyed listening to the creek behind, so relaxing. The hot tub is a big plus after a day of skiing. There were simple instructions for checking out. Only one downside is only one shower but we were totally able to work around that. Adding a curtain over the sink would be helpful. When planning our trip, the owner was quick to respond to our request to rent this house. We would recommend this property.

Cozy Cabin in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

Though the cabin is in the "town" of Monarch you feel a million miles from whatever it is you want an escape from. It is fully stocked...more like my grandparents cabin, complete with snow toys in the shed, than any cookie cutter condo. Really laughing out loud (not just typing lol) comes standard with every attempt to make it to the bottom of the road on the snow skate. With record crowds on I-70, a weekend skiing Monarch and staying in the 1st Chair Chalet is exactly what your soul needs whether you know it or not. I will be back.

Perfect Ski Getaway

  • 5 of 5

1st Chair Chalet was a wonderful getaway for our family. The cabin is nicely appointed and equipped with all that we needed for our ski vacation. It was clean and well-maintained; cozy but comfortable for our family of 5. The area had received over 4 feet of snow in the 5 days preceding our visit, yet they had cleared it from the parking area, front entrance and deck. We would highly recommend 1st Chair Chalet and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Thank you for opening up your retreat to us!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family -- 2 adults, 2 young kids, and an active dog -- all thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at the 1st Chair Chalet. There was something for everyone to stay entertained: deck with a relaxing visual and auditory experience, a small plot of land to roam including the creek right below the cabin, a hiking trail within 5 min walk from the cabin, drive up to the continental divide 15 min in one direction and art-scene Salida 15 min the other way, fire pit, grill, guitar, movies for both kids and adults, and easy wifi and aux plug-in to play music from our devices. The hot tub was definitely a favorite aspect for everybody (well, except the dog). Cabin is cozy, clean, has a well equipped kitchen, convenient washer/dryer, and the coziest (fleece?) sheets we have ever felt. Hosts are responsive and thoughtful, and clearly have put time and care into ensuring that everyone enjoys their home as much as they do. We look forward to visiting again when we need another mountain escape.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the 1st Chair Chalet. The cabin is very well equipped and clean. It's a short drive to Salida to pick up groceries. The beds were great and we loved the hot tub! The cabin was just as advertised. Highly recommend!
