My 'extended' immediate family just completed a 10-day stay at Portland Retreat - the perfect name for this modern tree-house retreat situated in a very nice, quiet section of (SW) Portland. Each of our 3 couples had their own bedroom and bathroom and enjoyed the open-design spacious kitchen, dining & living rooms and decks together. (The kitchen has a particularly good stock of wine glasses!) David was great to work with as well. The house is situated within walking distance of the arboretum's many woodland trails and served as an excellent home base - very much a tree-house 'escape' with all the amenities! Highly recommended.

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed this lovely home in the heart of Portland. The location gave us easy access to all the major roads we needed while touring the state. We used this house as our base and it was the perfect size for 3 couples. Each had their own bedroom and bath. I would recommend this property for anyone visiting the Portland area.

Very comfortable, very convenient - beautiful location!

  • 5 of 5

This property is well maintained and comfortable. When we arrived, everything was clean and worked exactly as the owner detailed in his message to us. The wifi was strong and worked with no difficulty! Great washer/dryer. The location is very convenient and beautiful, I would love to live in the Sylvan Highlands of Portland! Very safe area, it was great to go for a challenging jog around the neighborhood. The beds and bedding were acceptable and the kitchen was well stocked. Seating for meals was also good. Lots of cable TV options, so entertainment was not an issue. All in all it was a seamless and great stay - we would love to come back and stay again at this home. My family (with two small children) were comfortable. Tip: Bring a sleep eye mask! The bedrooms all get very bright in the early hours of the day!

idyllic getaway and home base

  • 5 of 5

the location of this home is really stellar... in and bordering a couple of PDX's best neighborhoods, up in the hills, yet close enough to most of the city's best qualities (restaurants; zupan's gourmet market; 23rd street and all its resources; zoo; parks; downtown; more). it is spacious and very well outfitted, offering nice privacy in three distinct sleeping quarters. we had a small glitch with the digital entry system at check-in (solved by the owner in less than 10 minutes!), but all systems worked beautifully thereafter. the photos offered are perfectly accurate, and the house was impeccably clean and decorated in good taste. one note: of the 5 cell phones we had with our group, only one would consistently get a signal, as the home is in the high side of a gorgeous ravine... we simply walked down the driveway a little to find signal in some cases. this is a nit, not a problem, really... we were just calling uber for cars to take of out dining, anyway, as this is one of portland's most amazing attractions. internet is great; the dual shower in the master is marvelous... and now a detail in the new house we're building! thanks, david and team, for our great week's stay!

Great property, location, and amenities

  • 5 of 5

We were very impressed with this property, its location, and amenities. We met our sons and their wives there in Portland for Memorial Day weekend and were extremely pleased with our accomodations. Would definitely go back again.

Beautiful location, great exposure to forested Portland

  • 5 of 5

This attractive house is perched in hills immediately adjacent to great cultural opportunities, but you feel like you are in the middle of your own private Portlandia forest, experienced through the extensive decks and terrace. A fantastic retreat in the city. Our party of four adults enjoyed the kitchen facilities and the two upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms; the downstairs bedroom is fine but not quite as luxurious.

I appreciated the owner's quick responses to my messages. Waiting now for a return of my security deposit, but it's only been two weeks since our departure. The house was the perfect vantage point from which to appreciate the city and the landscape it respects. Highly recommended.
