Guestbook comments from the owner

2 months wasn't long enough. We could have stayed longer.

We enjoyed this property and the location. Thank you for

making our stay comfortable and fun. We will miss it as

we head back to snow and winter. When you watch the dolphins,

manatee, fish and birds, think of us will you.

RENTER'S BEWARE - THIS IS NOT PARADISE

  • 1 of 5

We stayed in the 2-bedroom unit for the month of January 2017. We do not recommend renting this unit. The pictures posted combine photos from two two-bedroom units and are misleading.

Upon arriving, we were dismayed by the condition in which we found the unit including: a filthy toilet and bathroom; mouldy shower curtain; dirty surfaces; cigarette butts, prescription meds, spilled liquid and old candy wrappers under the beds; curly grey and white dog hair everywhere (our dog was brown with straight hair); unclean microwave and fridge interiors; sparse and poor quality linen; one holey blanket, and cockroaches. The kitchen drawers and cupboards were littered with cockroach droppings.

The single kitchen sink was painted and stained and we were instructed not to use abrasive cleaners. We washed our dishes in a basin. The kitchen was missing basic tools such as a can opener and blender.

There were no cleaning supplies or sponges to clean. The kitchen stove and oven were dirty and the dials barely readable. The fridge had a broken handle. The light fixtures, fans, pictures, surfaces and windows were caked with grime.

The aging tub, bathroom tile, kitchen sink and one kitchen countertop were painted. The tub was dangerously slippery. The kitchen and bathroom fixtures were old and loose with poor water pressure.

Within 24 hours of arriving we asked for our money back. The owner did nothing. We cleaned the cupboards, fridge and microwave interiors, and vacuumed ourselves. The owner did provide a new blanket and shower curtain.

The doorknobs for the doors were falling off and doors did not shut properly. The furniture in the unit was cheap and mismatched, and the table was unstable.

In the master bedroom, there was a piece of filthy foam rather than a mattress, and the bed in the other room had a cheap quality mattress. The air/heating unit for the other unit was outside the master bedroom and was loud when operating.

After sending some 20 pictures of the filth in the unit to the owner, two people came to clean. They said we would not be charged for the cleaning. However, we have not been reimbursed the deep cleaning fee .

With no introduction, we began to receive emails from someone named “Chuck” who had no last name and who styled himself as “vice president” - of what, we never found out.

The internet connection in the unit worked sporadically (old router and technology) and contrary to the info on the site, there was no internet connection near

We stayed a month winter 2016 and have signed the lease for winter 2017 and paid the deposit. Our adult son will visit again. Our dog enjoys escaping the snow too.

Not what how it appears .

Owner's Response: A reputable pest control company has been under contract with me since 2008 to regularly treat the exterior of each home. Preventative measures are very necessary in this warm climate. It is not just Snow Birds who welcome the warm weather. The home Sue and Lou Ball rented was checked, under standard warranty service, just prior to their arrival, no activity reported. During their stay Sue and Lou did not express any concern but if they had the pest control technician would have returned, usually the same day when I contact the company and technician directly. When Lou and Sue arrived the landscape maintenance gentleman was in the midst of removing pine needles and leaves from all the roofs but returned quickly to finish the regular year round process and all tenants were advised by email. Kurt apologized that he could not finish it in one day, as he usually does, as he had to attend to his children, which I completely understand and accepted his apology. With all my contractors their family has to come first.

Summer Internship in Clearwater

  • 5 of 5

I was a summer intern at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Summer 2012 and leased the unit for 3 months. The unit served all of my needs as it was nearby and completely furnished which is always a plus for short term leasers. The property manager was very friendly and responded to any and all requests/problems. The beach is a short drive away and the backyard by the dock is beautiful and peaceful for barbequing or just relaxing.

Beautiful property, dolphins are amazing

  • 5 of 5

The second day we were staying at this beautiful property we were on the dock when dolphins came right into Venetian Basin and close to the dock. It was amazing.

We enjoyed the weather, walking, cycling and all that Clearwater and Clearwater Beach have to offer. Our dog especially enjoyed the first experience of ocean waves at a nearby beach.
