Why Debbie and Randy chose Clearwater

FAMILY REUNION 5 Generations...July 2016 Bill Giroux said "We are coming back. Debbie is gracious and accommodating. My family from PA had a wonderful time". (Bill's full 5 star review is posted on another rental website.)

Restful natural beauty, great property to entertain friends or just relax; an oasis - it feels like you are away from the world yet close to everything. A wildlife bonanza on this ocean front property.

February 2017 Don and Ruth from PA said "After staying in a 2 bedroom three times make our next reservation for the 3 bedroom". (They stayed in Boaters Dream 408 the first time then in Natures Paradise, 410, twice.)

What makes this house unique

Use of canoe and bikes (free). Dolphin and Manatee come close to the dock, a wide variety of birds all year long. The Mullett (a vegetarian fish) jump just to entertain you. Fish from the dock or board your boat or just be entertained while you BBQ. Tall trees provide shade and attract birds. A taste of old Florida, solid construction. Clearwater is home to several award winning beaches. There are beach islands nearby accessible in a few minutes by canoe, kayak or boat. There is room at the dock for your boat or boat rental or launch our canoe. Dolphin will follow a canoe or boat. Access to water hose and electric for your boat. There are two 2 bedroom homes and a 3 bedroom home on this 1/3 acre oceanfront. Ask for a list of local boat rentals and suggested restaurants. 20 minutesr from Tampa International Airport, 1 1/2 hours to Disney, 30 minutes to amusement park, local art galleries, close to Ruth Eckhard Hall for classical music and culture.

Guestbook comments from the owner

2 months wasn't long enough. We could have stayed longer.

We enjoyed this property and the location. Thank you for

making our stay comfortable and fun. We will miss it as

we head back to snow and winter. When you watch the dolphins,

could be better

  • 1 of 5

I would give this property a higher rating, as far as location and ease in getting to local activities ( beaches, good restaurants, baseball games)

Its great that the owner allows dogs, as it was difficult to find one that does. The waterfront patio on the canal was nice for congregating, until the tide goes out.

The downfall is the property itself. Its in dire need of minor updating. The kitchen counter tops are damaged, the sink needs to be replaced. The unit was filthy, crumbs and dirt in cupboards from previous tenants. The towels threadbare. I understand that the owner has since hired a new housekeeping crew, hopefully they're doing a much better job in preparing for incoming guests. The owner was adamant about not using anything other than plain water on the floors. I had to wear something on my feet at all times, otherwise theyd get black from walking on the floor.

One photo shows a boat parked at the dock on the property. Couldnt happen. When the tide goes out 2 times a day,, its down to smelly muck.

I would not recommend this rental to friends or relatives.

conviently located

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have enjoyed staying here during the month of February for the past three years and have made plans to return again next year. We've found the location to be quite and yet convenient to grocery stores , pharmacies and restaurants. As well, we have been especially pleased with its easy access to beaches, provide walkways along the bay-side and opportunities for bike riding on Pinellus Trail. If you're a dog owner, as we happen to be, you and your dog are sure to enjoy several near by dog parks and dog beaches. The picturesque town of Dunedin has a reputation for being dog friendly and has at least one restaurant that graciously accommodates man's best friend with a special doggy menu.

Debbie White, owner of the rentals, has always been accommodating to our needs and willing to answer any questions we might have regarding the property. We look forward to returning next year.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the wonderful information for other dog owners Don and Ruth. All of the contractors who have met you have said the same thing as me, "the world would be a better place if there were more people like Don and Ruth". You are both so polite and respectful, always taking care of the home you are in and you have rented both of the 2 bedroom homes at different times. Certainly when there was a minor problem with a brand new faucet set you saw how quickly the Home Warranty Insurance firm gets a technician to the door. They too value you and your time and especially your comfort and provide excellent fast service. You have always taken care of my home. I thank you and welcome you back anytime. I am honored to make your reservation for next year.

Good Value especially for ocean front

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed our stay. We used the canoe to go to the beach islands and Caladesi. Dolphin followed us, our kids had a blast. We caught some little fish off the dock, big ones got away from boaters. The patios are great. We stayed in Natures Paradise with palms around the screened porch. The weekly rate is great for a 2 bedroom, monthly rate is even lower but not enough vacation time to stay for a month. The house is well equipped. Pictures are good, what you see is what you get. We met the people in Boaters Dream and saw that home too. We used both patios, the one near the dock was our fav. We are coming back.

Winter, 2017

  • 1 of 5

Old, small, ill-equipped and sparsely decorated, Owner did not maintain or update the furnishings. The small kitchen counter top and the bathtub had multiple coats of white paint, bathroom fixtures leaked and were corroded badly from the salt atmosphere.

The stove top must have been 50 years old. You could not see the numbers on the burner knobs so you knew how hot it was set on. The pans under the burners were rusted through, so had to put aluminum foil over them to make them look half way decent. The electric burners were so crooked the pans and skillets almost slid off the stove and was a danger to getting scalded. We had to clean the unit upon arrival as a lot of the unit was dirty. The pictures on the website were deceiving - if we would have known what it actually was we never would have rented it. Basically you paid for a silk purse and got a pig's ear!

We stayed in the 2-bedroom unit for the month of January 2017. We do not recommend renting this unit. The pictures posted combine photos from two two-bedroom units and are misleading.

Upon arriving, we were dismayed by the condition in which we found the unit including: a filthy toilet and bathroom; mouldy shower curtain; dirty surfaces; cigarette butts, prescription meds, spilled liquid and old candy wrappers under the beds; curly grey and white dog hair everywhere (our dog was brown with straight hair); unclean microwave and fridge interiors; sparse and poor quality linen; one holey blanket, and cockroaches. The kitchen drawers and cupboards were littered with cockroach droppings.

The single kitchen sink was painted and stained and we were instructed not to use abrasive cleaners. We washed our dishes in a basin. The kitchen was missing basic tools such as a can opener and blender.

There were no cleaning supplies or sponges to clean. The kitchen stove and oven were dirty and the dials barely readable. The fridge had a broken handle. The light fixtures, fans, pictures, surfaces and windows were caked with grime.

The aging tub, bathroom tile, kitchen sink and one kitchen countertop were painted. The tub was dangerously slippery. The kitchen and bathroom fixtures were old and loose with poor water pressure.

Within 24 hours of arriving we asked for our money back. The owner did nothing. We cleaned the cupboards, fridge and microwave interiors, and vacuumed ourselves. The owner did provide a new blanket and shower curtain.

The doorknobs for the doors were falling off and doors did not shut properly. The furniture in the unit was cheap and mismatched, and the table was unstable.

In the master bedroom, there was a piece of filthy foam rather than a mattress, and the bed in the other room had a cheap quality mattress. The air/heating unit for the other unit was outside the master bedroom and was loud when operating.

After sending some 20 pictures of the filth in the unit to the owner, two people came to clean. They said we would not be charged for the cleaning. However, we have not been reimbursed the deep cleaning fee .

With no introduction, we began to receive emails from someone named “Chuck” who had no last name and who styled himself as “vice president” - of what, we never found out.

The internet connection in the unit worked sporadically (old router and technology) and contrary to the info on the site, there was no internet connection near
