Beautiful home tucked away in the woods

  • 5 of 5

Your home was absolutely beautiful. It had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend (the hot tub was amazing). Thank you and we hope to return.

Well furnished and clean - with lots of light!

  • 5 of 5

My 3 sisters and I stayed for the weekend and were very comfortable. The furnishings were comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the hot tub was nice to have after a full day on our feet. The location is great - far enough away to feel off the grid, but close enough to a town or two for shopping and eats. We had great meals, shopping and coffee - all 10 to 20 minutes away. Also a great spot for a good uphill walk! It must be gorgeous when the leaves start to turn colors! Thanks to Rachelle and Don for a very relaxing weekend!

Owner's Response: Pat, you are correct.... it is beautiful in the fall when the leaves change color. That's why fall is one of our most popular rental times. Not to mention you can go apple picking in the fall and enjoy sitting outside either at the cottage on our front porch or back deck or at the many local wineries to enjoy the foliage. We're glad you enjoyed the cottage with it's relaxing location and it sounds like you got to enjoy some restaurants and coffee shops as well. Both the Daily Grind and Happy Creek Coffee and Tea are great. Thanks so much for your review and maybe next time you can come back to stay in the fall so you can see the fall foliage! :) Thanks again, Rachelle & Don

As Snug as Beaver in a Rug

  • 4 of 5

This was a great mountain getaway for my Dad & Mom and me and my wife. My Dad had not too long come out of the hospital after surgery and this was an excellent retreat for him to refresh his mind, body, & spirit.

Beavers Hill Cottage is a very nice and cozy little home that is tastefully and modernly decorated. I appreciated that it looks like a home you would see on HGTV and that it wasn't too rustic or antiquated. The 3 bedrooms were cozy and provided ample space although we only utilized 2 of them. It worked out well that the master was on the first floor for my parents.

Highlights for us were a fully stocked kitchen with modern appliances, carpeted cozy bedrooms, satellite TV, nice private deck pleasant for eating outside and for me...the huge hot tub on the lower level!

(This is a great place for those who want to be disconnected [there isn't any wifi in the house], but for those like me that still have to check on a few things, there is a cell phone tower only half a mile away! I was able to use my T-mobile phone tethered to my laptop for all my internet needs. However, 4G worked better for me upstairs than it did downstairs perhaps due to the slope that the house is built on.)

All in all, it was the "coziness" of this place (that's the word I'll keep using) that made this a memorable rental. Very well kept and clean. Thanks to the owners for letting us enjoy.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review. We're glad you found Beavers Hill Cottage cozy and inviting. Unfortunately it just isn't possible to have wifi out on the mountain, but we hope that guests enjoy disconnecting from the outside world and relaxing and enjoying the wildnerness, the local wineries, the Appalachian trail, Skyline Drive, or just a glass of wine or cup of coffee on the deck or front porch :) Like you said 4G does work on your cell phone...we're glad to hear you were able to use your laptop via your cell as well. Thank you for the HGTV compliment......you don't know how much that means to us since it is one of our favorite channels and we love home improvement! :) We're glad you got to share the cottage with your parents and that the 1st floor bedroom worked out for them as well. Thanks again for your kind words. We hope you come back to stay in the future! ~Rachelle & Don

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Rachelle and Don,

I cannot thank you enough for sharing your beautiful home. We had the most fabulous time. I was looking for a place where we would want to spend most of the weekend in..........not running all weekend, seeking entertainment. We did visit a few wineries and enjoyed a great kayaking trip on the Shenandoah River, but we were always anxious to return to the house. It felt like being in a tree house. We loved the wine (thank you so much!) and the hot tub, cooking dinner on the grill and eating on the deck. Saturday evening was cool and we were able to turn off the AC and open windows. There was a glorious breeze and a symphony of outdoor sounds from the frogs and cicadas. We relaxed on the sofa for hours, no TV, lights off, listening to the sounds and feeling the breeze. Oh, and did I mention the stars? We could not believe what we were seeing!

We also very much appreciate your dog friendliness, we do like to take our baby when we know we will not have long day trips away from the house. She loved the opportunity to be with us and she enjoyed the treats you left for her!

What a perfect place to "reset" the brain and get away from our busy lifestyles. We really did not want to leave on Sunday!!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your very kind review. It's reviews like this that make us realize that others enjoy Beavers Hill Cottage as much as we do and we love that! It's a great place to unwind and relax to get away from the city whether you enjoy some of our great local Virginia wineries, the Shenandoah River, the hot tub, or just coffee on the front porch or back deck. It's about 10 degrees cooler on the mountain so it sounds like you got to enjoy the breeze and turn off the AC which is unheard of at the bottom of the mountain during the summer :) We're glad your dog enjoyed the weekend as well! Thanks again and we hope you come back to stay at Beavers Hill Cottage! ~Rachelle & Don

Wine in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

This weekend getaway was a gift for my husband to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. Since 5 years is wood, and we love to visit whatever wineries are nearby, Beavers Hill Cottage looked like the perfect wooded option, and it did not disappoint. It was a very easy drive ( follow directions provided by the owners) and close (but not too close) to all kinds of wineries and places to eat. It was only the two of us and our little terrier, but the house comfortably sleeps six. Very clean, and wonderfully decorated, I felt like I was at home. We spent most of the time on the deck and you could hear a pin drop it was so quiet. Just what we were looking for. The hosts were very responsive and made everything easy. We found some great wineries and will be back as soon as we can. This time with a group. Plenty of space to get some friends together for a quiet weekend cookout.
