A great cottage
Really enjoyed our stay at Beavers hill
We were looking for a close place to get away from DC for a long weekend and we found it! The house was exactly what we were looking for. It was quiet, relaxing, and tidy. The house was also very dog friendly. Gus and Romeo appreciated the treats left by the owner. I think we grilled every meal outside and appreciated the quietness of our surroundings. We will definitely recommend the house to our friends in DC.
Get Away in the Hills
The property is accurately described in the posting, the owners Rachelle & on are interactive with helpful answers and the cottage is clean and well appointed. Attractions (particularly wineries) are close enough to enjoy or stay at the cabin and enjoy the peace and quiet. This was our first rental and the Vrbo process has been quick and pain free.
A cozy, magnificient, and unique experience, felt like a bird on top of the world...
Very clean, comfortable. The property is equipped with great classic films to watch and enjoy during the evenings....
All the comforts of your own home....
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Beavers Hill Cottage and were able to watch movies while you were there. We hope you come back to stay in the future. Thank you for your review!

Cozy and clean
Extremely clean on the inside. Set up well for a family with pets. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook several meals.
It was a little more remote than we expected (took 30 minutes to get to a grocery store). We encountered tons of spiders on the deck, but I suppose that comes with the location and time of year- we didn’t see any bugs inside though. Overall, a great little house!
POOR ACCESS AND DRIVEWAY.
THE COTTAGE IS LOCATED ON BACK MOUNTAIN ROADS AND UNLESS YOU HAVE A 4WD CAR THE DRIVE WAY IS VERY STEEP. WE WERE NOT AWARE OF EITHER SITUATION AND HAD 2 CARS THAT ONE STRUGGLED GETTING UP THE DRIVEWAY AND THE OTHER WE COULDN'T EVEN GET ON THE ROAD TO THE HOUSE. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN WITH THE OWNERS AND THEY WERE UNSIMPATHETIC. AFTER 2 NIGHTS I ASKED FOR A PARTIAL REFUND DUE TO THE FACT WE COULD ABSOLUTLEY NOT STAY THE REMAINDER OF THE BOOKING. THEY REFUSED EVEN AFTER I SENT PICTURES OF THE CAR AND TRUCK WE WERE DRIVING TO SHOW WHY WE WERE UNABLE TO GET IN AND OUT OR DRIVE ON THE ROADS. THE COTTAGE ITSELF WAS OK AND CLEAN. THERE IS NO CABLE UPSTAIRS JUST DVD LIBRARY. MOST OF ALL VERY DISAPPOINTED.
We advertise our cottage as a mountain and wine country getaway. The Rental Agreement states that the cottage is on gravel roads that are not state maintained. Whenever a guest books with us they are acknowledging that they read and agree with the rental agreement. We also send this rental agreement again to our guests with the directions (this email also includes information about our driveway) to make sure that everyone in the party has read it. Unfortunately we don’t think these guests read any of the information we provided.
For future guests information, there are approximately 1 mile of gravel roads to the cottage. These are not in bad condition and they are maintained by the HOA. The cottage is located on a mountain so it does have some hills and inclines and this includes the driveway. You do not need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get to our cottage! We have had guests that have stayed at the cottage with motorcycles, rear wheel drive vehicles including sports cars, front wheel drive cars, delivery trucks/vans and all different kinds of vehicles and they have not had any problems. In the winter months we do monitor the weather and inform our guests if they are calling for snow. We will then strongly advise them not to stay at the cottage due to conditions on the mountain as stated in our rental agreement. We always inform people if there is inclement weather (Snow or Ice) during their stay that they should park at the top of the driveway. In non-inclement weather there will be no issues and there wasn’t any bad weather during this guests stay.
We want every guest to enjoy their stay and we did offer options for alternative parking. This guest notified us during their stay that they wanted a refund for 5 days after staying 2 nights. We blocked our calendar for 7 nights for their reservation so this would make it impossible for us to rent the cottage to any other guests and it is why we state our cancellation policy when guests book. As you can read in our other reviews the house is in very nice condition and the location has not been an issue. In fact most guests actually like that it is in a secluded, wooded, mountain area. It is unfortunate that these guests felt the need to leave early and leave a one star review because they wanted a refund for something that was out of our control. We want all of our guests to enjoy the cottage as much as we do. If future guests have any questions about the location, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
