Downtow Frankfort - Short Walk to Lake Michigan Beach

Bedrooms 3
Space 950 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, 8 Sleeps

Our vacation home is in a quiet location only a short walking distance to Betsie Bay and the beautiful Lake Michigan beach. Main Street with cute shops and restaurants, the Betsie Valley Bike Trail and the marina are right around the corner. The home is newly renovated and we did recover the natural wood floors and added a new wood floor in the living area. There is a large master bedroom with a queen size bed and a private bed room with two twin size beds. Next to this room and the kitchen is a open room with a futon. The lower level has a private room with a full size bed.

About Wilfried Schley

It was always our dream to live on the shores of Lake Michigan after we spent the last 10 years sailing on a lake in Wisconsin. Frankfort offers everything we like, markets, sustainable living, biking, paddling, and skiing (opportunities to be active outdoors all year around) as well as cultural events in and around town. Growing up close to Frankfort, Germany, I always wanted to visit Frankfort, Michigan.

Wilfried Schley purchased this house in 2011

Why Wilfried Schley chose Frankfort

For the last twenty years we have spent our summer vacations on Lake Michigan. In 2011 we visited Frankfort for the first time and fell in love with the city and area. We know that we have found the perfect location and can imagine spending the rest of our lives in this area.

What makes this house unique

Tucked away in a quiet location and still in the middle of it all. Forget the car and walk to the beach, harbor, stores, shops and restaurant or take a bike ride along the beautiful Betsie Valley Bike Trail. The large fenced=in year will be the perfect playground for our future grandchildren. We also enjoy hiking along Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and canoeing on the Platte River, both only 15 minutes away.

Fantastic spot in fantastic Frankfort

  • 5 of 5

The Bay House at Harbor Place exceeded our expectations. My wife and I spent ten nights there with our 17-year old boy/girl twins and it was the perfect amount of space. Our son slept in the room with the twin beds upstairs and our daughter slept in the downstairs bedroom and that worked out very nicely. When we wanted to be together like playing games as a family, we used the table in the room off the kitchen, and when we needed our space we had plenty of that. The property is very nicely appointed and the grounds are very comfortable and we made friends with a couple staying in one of the other cabins, but we also had plenty of opportunity for privacy outside. The outside areas are great, with flowers and plants that give it a very cozy feel. The one bathroom is a little small but we made it work with two teenagers during our stay. The location is as good as it gets, as we walked into town pretty much every day, going to the farmers market on Saturday, or to one of the many Frankfort restaurants on the main drag or down to the beach for some of the most spectacular sunsets you could ever want. We as a family have traveled a lot, and rented a lot of properties from a lot of different people and Wil and Beth are probably the friendliest hosts we've ever rented from. We are planning on coming back next summer!

Highly recommend this lovely little resort!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful! Wil and Beth were perfect hosts, warm and responsive. The Bay House was spotless, adorable, comfortable, and very well-equipped. Location was perfect--walking distance to marina, beach, restaurants, AND coffee & doughnuts every morning! Family renting elsewhere visited and LOVED our cottage's ambience and location too. Ample parking, plus lovely flowers and outdoor seating and picnic tables. We definitely recommend Harbor Place cottages to couples and families looking for a great little home-away-from-home in Frankfort.
