Very Rustic Cabin
The cabin is in a nice location sitting above the river providing a soothing sound to enjoy. However, the cabin itself needed some attention. The front walk was either under repair or being rebuilt as you had to walk 20+ feet from the parking area to the door in the dark through mud and mess. It's possible the cabin hadn't been occupied in some time as a musty damp smell dominated. The spiders seemed in control of all the corners of the rooms. And finally, I know it was my choice to rent the cabin, but the $1750 security deposit was ridiculous. Never seen such a high deposit especially for a property that didn't warrant it.
Yes the cabin was rented after the Hurricane had gone through so side walk was under repairs to bring it higher off the ground. Rain has dominated the weather so musty could have been from the river being just a hop skip and jump out the back door. As for Spiders we didn't find any after being reported, Pest control had just been out (monthly) but will have it fumigated for bugs ASAP.
Perfect Getaway Spot
Fantastic location, secluded and peaceful.
House has all that you need
peaceful get away
My wife and I just made our second visit to this cabin and it was just as great as the first time. We were already discussing our next visit before we even left! The cabin is perfectly quaint and has everything you could need for a nice mountain getaway. The reality is you won't spend much time inside, the surroundings are to beautiful and inviting to not be outside. We pretty much spend all of our time on the river (fishing, swimming, floating) or on the large back porch, after two visits I don't think I could even tell you if the living room furniture is comfortable.....
The area is amazing and is very convenient to Hiking, fishing, vineyards, and Asheville if you want to bounce in for a night out. We are already planning the next trip!
Great location! Beautiful surroundings!
We had a great time even though it was super rainy while we were there! Nice riverfront location. Cute town.
My wife and I along with our 2 dogs love the water. The South Toe is amazing. The River below the house is deep enough to swim. I was also able to kayak. Great stay.
Located right on the river, you will want to enjoy swimming, rafting and fishing - a couple of poles are provided - but don't forget the license! Nearby, there is horseback riding, golf, and hiking. The small towns of Burnsville and Spruce Pine offer wonderful shops, art galleries and the fifth largest arts and crafts community in the United States. There are many local herb and vegetable farms and plenty of grass fed beef available in the local markets. Two golf courses are close by plus a number of restaurants. On the Blue Ridge Parkway, guests will enjoy a visit to Mt. Mitchell State Park - highest peak in the Eastern United States; the Folk Art Museum, the North Carolina Mineral Museum, Emerald Village Gem Stone Mine, Linville Falls and Caverns, Grandfather Mountain and many other local attractions.
