We bought our land in 2004 and hired local builders who built the house over a 6 year period. The house was finished in 2011. It was an experience.
Andrew Wallace purchased this house in 2004
We came to the island in 2004 and fell in love with the natural beauty the island has to offer. The location of our house is close to town, yet quiet and private. We are the last house on the road and we sit up high enough to have a beautiful view of the mountains, the ocean, and Puerto Rico. We can view the rain forest from our deck and catch some magnificant sunsets.
Our family of five's stay at Andy's Casa Del Caribe was great. The house is in the hills of Vieques, with everything on the island within driving distance (you will need a car!). It's a place to get away from it all.
The caretakers, Tom and Liz, were helpful with everything- getting us to the house, suggesting beaches and food, and responding quickly to any question we had.
The house was big, clean, and the rooms look like the pictures on the website. We would definitely stay there again.
We enjoyed our stay at Andy's Casa Del Caribe!! We stayed 8 nights and enjoyed the amenities and private feel. The care takers were wonderful, answered all of our questions and provided with us with suggestions. We highly recommend this house and hope to return in the future with some friends.
My husband and I took two teenagers to Vieques for 5 nights. The house was a wonderful change from hotel life! Everything we needed was there plus. Tom picked us up from the ferry and got us to our car rental place, waited and led us back to the house. He pointed out lots of places we might want to stop and visit on the way. The house was comfortable and had a wonderful view - plus was high enough to never get too hot. The bedrooms had A/C units but we did not need them once. We would absolutely stay there again should we come back to the island!
Our stay at Andy’s Casa Del Caribe was fabulous, and the comfort and amenities of this beautiful 3 bedroom home in a quiet hillside neighborhood contributed greatly to the enjoyment of our Vieques vacation. Perhaps a best kept secret, Vieques is a little tropical island with some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. Away from the relative bustle and hustle of the Puerto Rican mainland, the pace is even slower in Vieques, and everything is a short 10 or 20 minute drive in a jeep. Andy’s beautiful vacation home provided everything we wanted and needed in a home base in this tropical paradise. Picture a clean, new home all to yourselves vs. a room in some hotel! Yes, indeed, we had fun barbequing a few times, enjoying the scenic views from the massive wrap-around porch!
We had an amazing time on our Vieques vacation, and our experience at Andy’s Casa Del Caribe made everything else so convenient and comfortable. While there are great restaurants, bars, and interesting attractions, Vieques is all about their many excellent beaches around the island. We met many fellow vacationers during our days and nights, and comparing accommodations, having our quiet hillside home to come back to at the end of the day, for us, was the best way to go.
We chose to arrive in Vieques by ferry after trekking to the El Yunque rainforest on the mainland, and property caretaker Tom picked us up and gave us a great friendly introductory tour to the island before taking us to pick up our car. Knowing that Tom and Liz were available in their neighboring home if we had any problems was reassuring, but we had no need.
Peaceful, beautiful views, exotic, tropical, off the beaten path, spacious, airy are my lasting impressions. The Caribbean water was clear, warm, wonderful; sophisticated restaurants, roadside stands, and don’t forget to book a Mosquito Bay visit (Bio luminescent bay – year-round).
