vivid compared to our muted colors” . . . . . . . Peggy & Bob, New Hampshire
“We are 7 female former DA’s who got together for a month in Santa Fe, and SOL provided us with lots of space and comfort. We cooked up a storm, relaxed on
the deck, and oh yes, saw some sights. . . . . . . . . . . the SF 7, from all
“We like to park our car when we stay in a city, and SOL allowed us to walk everywhere. The house is spacious, but as just two, we were very cozy”
. . . Gina and Dave, Minneapolis
The house is designed with incredible architectural touches, such as vigas/latillas/bancos/nichos/kiva fireplace and post and corbel and Saltillo tile and flagstone floors.
There are two KING suites: both with en suite baths. There is a small courtyard adjacent to the larger suite with bistro dining (perfect for private coffee in the morning) and a small meditation garden.
All amenities are provided in the house, including high-speed wireless internet, cable TV, telephone, washer/dryer,
Another very pleasant feature of Hacienda del Sol is its adjacent lovely walking areas; its proximity to the Plaza in just an 8-minute walk is definitely a plus! The surrounding lanes provide wonderful views for short or long strolls with the wonderful mountain vistas at every turn and the secret spaces that lie behind the courtyard walls - very much like Provence in France. From the casa it’s a very pleasant and short walk to the Plaza.

About the Owner
I am a retired international businesswoman and an inveterate world traveller. And at this stage of my life that travel will take the form of adventure travel and volunteer work abroad. Plan to do the 550 mile Camino in Spain soon, and perhaps a long bike trek in southeast Asia. Split my time between Santa Fe and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico (numbers 10 and 5 in Conde Nast's 2014 readers survey). In santa fe part time for 21 years, previously DC, raised in Ohio; college in Ohio, Italy and DC. LOVE SANTA FE and its official sister city, San Miguel de Allende, a UN heritage city and what I call the Tuscany of North America - the city and the entire state of Guanajuato. Ask me about it.
Guestbook comments from the owner
We are already booked to return this summer, which we understand is glorious in Santa Fe - cool nights, sunny days, warm but NO HUMIDITY. There were just two of us, but our married daughters came for the weekend and there was room for everyone, but when we were alone, we loved it. The views are indescribable. Unfortunately I had to work and the separate office came me space and privacy, and my husband worked at a desk in one of the bedrooms. We love the colorful furnishings and décor from all over the world. A definite "not to miss."

Viva Hacienda Del Sol
I thought I could not find as nice a place as I stayed last week, but I think it's a tie. Came for R&R and couldn't have a better place to revive; wake up to the smell of coffee brewing, and look out the kitchen window to those fabulous views - catches my breath every time. Sit in the living room, saying, I should go up to the ski resort, but it's hard to leave. Quick drive up by the way. The king suite looks at the ski area set amidst the lovely Sangre de Cristo Mountain range, and the deck on the other side has great views of santa fe and other mountains. Easy walk to the Plaza - safe area and never need your car in town. Spacious home; just the two of us, but it doesn't feel too big, but could easiy fit a group here. Garage, 3 outside areas, all amenities
THE VIEWS FROM THIS HOME ARE BREATHTAKING OF THE N
HAVE STAYED IN THIS LOVELY HOME A NUMBER OF TIMES-USUALLY 2 WEEKS AT A TIME. THE MOUNTAINS ARE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU AT ALL TIMES,AND THE HOUSE SO BRIGHT, YOU DONT NEED ARTIFICIAL LIGHTING DURING THE DAY.ALTHOUGH I AM USUALLY THERE ALONE,AND FEEL VERY COZY IN THIS SPACIOUS HOME, IT IS LARGE ENOUGH FOR 8!. COLORFUL AND FULL OF OBJECTS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD. GARAGE, ALL AMENITIES, AND I ESPECIALLY LIKE TO WALK TO THE NEARBY REC CENTER AND INDOOR POOL, AND TO THE PLAZA EVERY DAY. THIS IS A KEEPER.
Love Santa Fe? Love it more living at SOL
Staying in SOL was an incredible experience - I'll never choose to stay in a hotel again if this is what vacation rental living is all about. Sol had magical VIEWS from every window, and it afforded space for all of us. Three bedroom/offices and lots of room for everyone to do their own thing. Every amenity we could want was provided, from the culinary to the techie, including a gas grill, garage, library and games. Living in the south most of my life, the drop-dead views of the mountains surrounding Santa Fe are an incredible experience, and then with the charms of santa fe art, culture and world-class restaurants at every turn, I think I may have achieved nirvana. Do yourself a favor and stay here when you come to Santa Fe; you won't be disappointed in either
Hacienda del Sol -- home away from home
I rented Hacienda del Sol so that I could experience living in Santa Fe during the winter months, and I was not disappointed. The home has a comfortable master bedroom upstairs with two guest rooms downstairs. Its a quick drive or walk to town, and only 30 minutes to drive to Ski Santa Fe. The kitchen is fairly well equipped for those who enjoy cooking. And the views... Santa Fe is all about the views. When you look out the living room and kitchen windows, you see the mountains, including the ski slopes. The house is an excellent choice for spending time downtown exploring, or viewing nearby Canyon Road galleries, and its a quick drive to the Ortiz dog park. Other nearby amenities include the De Vargas Shopping Center which includes a Starbucks, Albertson's grocery store, CVS pharmacy, and a movie theatre to name a couple of things. The property manager was a great source of local information but respected my much wanted privacy. I would recommend this to friends and family.
Magnificent VIEWS from every room in Spacious&Colorful home near Plaza, but feels like country
We love this home where we have stayed for 1 to 3 weeks the last 5 years. I have gone alone, or with my husband, and one year we hosted a family get-together with 8 of us. Lots of beds if needed, and all the amenities you would expect. BUT, the most delightful feature is the LIGHT, with unbelievable VIEWS from every room, so much solar light during the day, you never need to turn on an electric light. I run or jog on the surrounding roads or on the track at the park - every day. There is a public rec center (inexpensive) just 2 blocks away, and the PLAZA is an easy stroll, which I walk at least once per day for morning coffee, or lunch - especially if I am staying alone in the home. I like having the attached garage for ease of movement when I do have to take the car. Southwest architecture, lots of color, great furnishings, two patios and a deck. Kitchen with everything you need for great meals. Give it a try!
From the Owner
“The absolutely FANTASTIC views all around, AND the country like setting, while still being a short walk through the Park to the Santa fe Plaza. SOL is very spacious yet when I stay there alone, I do not feel lonely as the incredible views and brightness of the house make it extremely comfortable. In fact most of our guests are a single woman or a couple rather than a big group although there is room for 8!!”
