Upscale La Jolla Village Condo, Walking distance to Beaches & Shops
Enjoy the comforts of home in the heart of La Jolla Village. Enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony while the sun sets behind the trees. Stroll down the lane while window shopping. Stop in at one of the many eateries for a romantic dinner or a lively family dinner.
Walk to La Jolla Cove beach for swimming and/or snorkeling. You are also steps away from the children’s tide pool, seal viewing area, a museum and more.
Good location, close to shops, restaurants, art galleries, and beach walks. I appreciate the secure parking garage. The property was well maintained, but be prepared for some early morning phone conversations (heard through the wall) from the adjoining office suite. Hopefully, the construction activity just outside will be over soon. The owner was very helpful throughout the entire process. Description and photos accurately describe the property. I would recommend this property to friends/relatives.
We were really happy with the experience at this condo. Great open floor plan in the kitchen/living room and both bedrooms are quite large. The location in the village is awesome. We didn't really have a need to move the car at all except to venture further into to San Diego. If you wanted to just shop and hang at the beach you could easily walk anywhere you need from the condo. Robyn was great with her communication and answering our questions before our trip. We asked her if the condo had baking trays and after she checked on it she said the ones that were there were kind of old and beat up and we had brand new baking trays greet us in the kitchen when we got there. The pride of ownership is really evident. The garage is a pretty tight fit but it's nice to have that space if you need it. We ended up mostly using the street parking. We would defintely stay here again!
As others have noted, it a large unit located in a business building. It worked out great for my family of four. We had plenty of space and did not have to worry about being noisy. It is located in the heart of La Jolla, so it is walking distance to the beach and a number of restaurants. We would not hesitate to stay there again.
We enjoyed our stay in Robyn's condo. It appears to be converted from a business space, so it looks a bit odd, but the living room is quite spacious, allowing our kids to spread out, and it's a 5 minute walk (with stairs) to La Jolla Cove where we could gawk at the sea lions. It was clean and quiet--the only neighbors were business workers during business hours. The kitchen worked fine for cooking Thanksgiving dinner, and the two beds were comfortable. There's also an inflatable bed and a sleeper sofa. It's true that you have to climb two flights of stairs from the garage to the condo. There is an elevator, but you can only get from the elevator to the condo during business hours by asking someone in the adjacent business. Robyn was friendly and responsive to text messages, and we had no trouble checking in or out by following her instructions.
We stayed for 3 weeks and really enjoyed the space and the location in downtown La Jolla Village. It is a residential unit in a commercial office building with off-street parking in an underneath garage. Security is great. The kitchen was well appointed and the furnishings and layout very comfortable throughout. Owner Robin and her staff were very accessible and responsive when we had questions or minor issues. We would have rated this a "5 star" if the wifi were improved and working at a high, fast level; it often slowed down, cut out, and was more difficult to get connected in the bedroom. It is a first rate apartment and the internet should be first rate as well.
The condo was very spacious, the price was reasonable for this area, and Robyn made everything very easy for us! And, having a designated parking spot was a real plus. Part of our goal in selecting a place to stay was to avoid having to drive very much, if at all, and this condo answered that need really well! With the exception of a trip to the Birch Aquarium, we didn't get in the car at all until it was time to leave - everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. For our needs this location really couldn't have been better.
It was great to have a full kitchen and so much space. We cooked dinner a few nights when we just didn't want to go out into the La Jolla scene and we also enjoyed being able to watch a movie in the evening on the large screen TV. With two large bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a large family room, dining room and kitchen, there was plenty of space to spread out and relax.
That said, there are a few things to bear in mind about the property:
1) there are no windows that open, so apart from the sliding door to the small deck, that overlooks the alley where you enter the building and the doors that open off of the bedrooms, there is no easy way to let fresh air into the place. Since the doors in the bedrooms open onto somewhat public space - you share the entrance area with a few offices - we didn't really feel comfortable to open these doors much of the time - certainly not at night when some cool, fresh air would have been nice. Of course, the ocean is just a short walk away, so this is not a major issue.
2) Getting into the condo requires climbing two flights of stairs from the parking garage. Not a big issue for us, although it did take several trip up & down to bring our stuff up, and if there had been an elevator we would definitely have used it. This would probably be an issue for anyone who has trouble with stairs.
3) The AC works great overall, but it seems to cool some rooms a bit more intensively than others. Since there were different ideas about just what comfortable feels like in our party, finding the right thermostat setting for everyone was sometimes a challenge.
Overall, the condo served us well, and Robyn is super easy to work with! If you're looking for a place right in the heart of La Jolla village and just a short walk from the cove, this condo is definitely worth considering!
This condo was very spacious and very clean. The location was perfect because we wanted to be in walking distance of the beaches and restaurants. Robyn, the owner was great! She was very helpful in planning this trip and gave us wonderful tips on what to see in San Diego. She is also a photographer and she took awesome pictures of my family on the beach. I highly recommend this condo!!!
