Perfect place for a get away!

  • 5 of 5

We booked this home last minute. The owner was easy to work with and very helpful and quick to respond to any questions we may have had. The home is absolutely beautiful and immaculate! The pictures definitely don't do it justice! It had everything one would need to experience the comforts of home. Originally from Ohio, we traveled from Texas with our 18 year old daughter and three of her friends. The upstairs was perfect for them with a loft with a big comfy couch and entertainment center! There are two bedrooms and bathroom. One bedroom has 2 queen beds, the other has 2 sets of bunk beds which was perfect for the girls! The master is downstairs with its own beautiful private bath. The home is located with excellent proximity to explore Port Clinton, Sandusky and the local area islands. We took in an afternoon sail with Captain Jim, took the girls jet skiing with Captain Kevin, my husband enjoyed a fishing charter out of Port Clinton, we spent a day at Put-n-Bay and of course made a day of Cedar Point! There are a plethora af great restaurants and a wonderful grocery store and a Walmart nearby. We enjoyed Dock's Beach House Bar and Grill, Bootleggers, Nagoya Japaneese Restaurant, and Waldo Peppers Bar and Grill. We would definitely come again!

Beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home , nice setting and location. Pictures don't do it justice. Furnishings and decor are wonderful. Home is well stocked with necessities. We visited several nearby attractions, including wildlife park, Mon Ami winery, Put in bay, East Harbor state park, and Marblehead lighthouse. Owner was quick to respond to any questions.

Fantastic home for a vacation

  • 5 of 5

The first comment from nearly everyone in my family was - WOW - when we walked into the house. This home and it's location was beyond expectations! Great kitchen, plenty of beds and nice bedrooms, cathedral ceiling, on and on. The back of the house is just feet away from Sandusky Bay which is great for fishing or boating. If you fish, this IS the place. We caught approximately 50 in the 3 days we were there. We hope to go again and stay longer next time.

the pictures do not do the house justice.........

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful. Plenty of room for alot of people and enough bathrooms to accommodate. sitting out on the deck in the evening was wonderful, quiet and peaceful. it our second time at the house this year and we love it.

great sound system, bring CD's

very well maintained and clean.

enough towels for an army

some great restaurants around....Mon Ami, Nagoya, Clinton House, of course going out to Put-in-bay is alot of fun.

Watch out for the police sitting at the bottom of the bridge going into town. speed limit drops from 45 to 25 and they are there waiting for tourists!

Outstanding Lake House overlooking the gentle Sandusky Bay!

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable, beautifully appointed home! Quiet dead end street with just ~10 homes total. Great kitchen for cooking and cleaning up afterward. Big master bedroom and very big master bath with 2 person shower. Upstairs bedrooms don’t have much privacy if you have 12 in your party; the room with 2 double beds with singles bunked on top has a window overlooking the kitchen & great room. The window has a wood blind to reduce light and noise transmission, but…

Neighbor on another street selling a Sunfish sailboat; he let us try it out during our stay in the hopes that we’d buy it, but it didn’t have a trailer for us to tow it back home and he wouldn’t sell it for cheap enough to buy the straps and other equipment to put it on top of our minivan.

Sandusky Bay has far lower waves and winds than Lake Erie. My sailing on the Bay was challenging because the wind shifted so often as I sailed around.

African Safari was simply one of the top 10 travel experiences of my life (and I’ve traveled to 49 states and 40 countries, Ran with the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain; rode down an alpine mountain for ½ mile on a disk, took my family of 7 to the Taj Mahal and Forbidden City, etc.). Two 1500 pound bison had their heads in my driver’s car window trying to pull away my cup of food; I had to hold on with both hands or I’d lose that cup, as my daughter lost hers to another bison. We also fed deer, elk, and giraffes, and there were zebras as well. Skip the pig races.

Cedar Point was ~20 minutes away. It claims to be the roller coaster capital of the world with 18, but even better was the “wheels” show, with a dozen athletes doing incredible tricks on a two half pipes, a suspended rope, and 2 trampolines. My wife and I liked it so much we saw it twice.

Small suggestions for improvement already communicated to host: Both DVD players connected via a single, composite (yellow) cable, which substantially reduces the picture quality from the later S-video, component, DVI, and the current HDMI. The DVD player on the main floor was wrongly connected to the cable box’s front output, so we couldn’t watch DVD’s on the main floor. The upstairs DVD had just a full length sofa which holds 3 comfortably, 4 squeezing in, and a single chair, so for a home that sleeps 12 the seating was too sparse, especially with the main floor’s DVD not connected properly (but that just had a single 3 person sofa for seating to view).

This place has become a staple reunion for our family

  • 5 of 5

It's been 2 years in a row that we've stayed at Laurie's, and our family have decided that this place will be our annual family vacation home. The neighbors were so kind, Laurie's home is so comfortable, clean, convenient, beautiful, and really welcoming. My family and I truly enjoyed fishing right off the dock, and hanging out at the loft together watching late night movies. The long table accommodated us to have our family meals together, which we lack in our everyday lives. It's such a beautiful place to bring family together. I recommend this place for all, the young, the old, the single, the married, the friends, or just by yourself, the place will be a little big, but who cares! You've got the lake in front of you!
