About Elaine K. Conley

Retired couple who grew up coming to Indian Lake and still enjoy boating and swimming.

Elaine K. Conley purchased this house in 1998

Why Elaine K. Conley chose Belle Center

About and hour and half from our home so is very easy to get there. We came as children so very fond memories and enjoyable activities close by.

What makes this house unique

There are the caverns close by and Marmon Valley Farms which are very enjoyable for all ages. The caverns have miles of underground scenes and MVF has all kinds of animals and nice place for horseback riding.

Some things could be updated.

  • 4 of 5

Really enjoyed the location, yard, dock, and the beds were very comfortable. Also enjoyed the Ansel Adams pictures especially since we had met and spent time with his granddaughter Sarah several years ago. The couches could be updated or at least have better covers on them. Would prefer that sheets and towels were included. Would like to know how much it would cost to also include pontoon boat. Would be nice to have a place near dock to clean fish and a place to dispose of the fish scraps.

Owner's Response: We are always happy that guests enjoy their vacation. They have very nice pontoon boats to rent at Spend a Day Marina and I would recommend seeing the lake by boat.

roomy older cottage

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our trip but seems like host cuts a few corners.older cottage with 3 bedrooms, needs some updates small living room in need of newer furniture. roomy kitchen with large table, pots and pans need updates, hard to fry in the pans. The dock was a good extra, nice area the dock power did not work as their directions to turn it on . No defined place to clean fish. If you book for 4 nights you only really get 4 nights and 3 days the host should allow 4 days check out later , and the can use a day between booking to clean and not have check in at 3pm and out at 10 am

Owner's Response: We are happy that our guests enjoy the cottage and find the setting nice. It is important to us to make it comfortable. Believe it or not we search high and low for furnishings that fit the 1950's era when the cottage was constructed.

Waterfront Island Cottage

Enjoyed our week at the cottage. The cottage was just as pictured. Large catfish caught right off the dock. We had a small fishing boat but did just as good fishing right in the back yard! Great fire pit. Quiet area, met a few of the neighbors. Brought bikes, good biking on the Island.

Great vacation at Indian Lake with family.

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a long week/weekend at the lake with kids and grand kids. It was our second time renting this seriously cute lake house.

My son and his wife and family were able to join us again, they usually go to Michigan in the UP where his wife has a family cottage by Lake Superior. This was their second time visiting us for a part of our stay on Indian Lake. They joined us last fall for a weekend and this time for a 4 day weekend. This house is so warm and inviting it was just like being at a friends home. My daughter-in-law made the comment that she liked it better than one of the very expensive big lake houses, because there you are afraid to move around and deathly afraid to bring small children for fear of breaking something. There is no chance to relax in a place like that; where this house feels like home! The grand kids LOVED it and even though they didn't catch any fish they were thrilled when grandpa pulled 3 successive catfish out of the lake one evening and held them up for pictures, and they can only guess how big the one that got away was! The little fishing boat that we rented from Spend-A-Day marina was a hit also for putt putting around the lily pads and looking for new places to fish. Our young grand daughter loved fishing snail shells out of the lake and going to the beach to swim each day with her mom and dad and older brother. We all played games around the large kitchen table and watched the bird life flying around the small island that the cottage over looks. My grand daughter was in tears when it was time to leave. as she didn't want to go. We had to promise to rent the house again so that she and her family could visit us at the lake once again.

SUCH FUN, we can't wait to go back.

A week back in time into the 1960's with some more modern touches.

  • 4 of 5

We rented this cute little lake cottage for a week at the end of September/beginning of October. The weather was perfect for our time away. The location of the cottage is super for a close, but not too close vacation experience. The Big lake is right there, but right across from the boat dock was undeveloped land so we could watch the ducks, heron, and geese come by. Our son, daughter-in-law and grand kids came up for the weekend and had a SUPER time. My 6 year old granddaughter already wants to know when we will be going back!!!

The house is from either the 1950's or 1960's with some important updates. There is a newer full bathroom off of one bedroom and the tile in both the main bathroom and kitchen have been updated. All of the bedrooms are a decent size with enough room for queen beds in two of them. The queen mattresses seem to be quite new. Very comfy! The living room was nice and big with two couches and a love seat. So there was plenty of space even with two families there for a couple of days. The kitchen had lots of space for cooking, but I would suggest an investment in some newer cookware, as what was there was a bit tired. The owners were very nice to work with also. Thanks for a lovely time away from home.

waterfront Island Cottage

Loved this cottage! Very relaxing and loved being in the lagoon close to the mouth of the big lake. The kids had so much fun fishing and playing in the backyard. Meet one of the neighbor's who took us on a boat ride twice. Couldn't have asked for nicer neighbor's. Hoping to make this a family tradition and would love to come back to this cottage.

This is a very large lake that has regular fishing tournaments, many restaurants with pull up areas for boats, skiing areas along with many swimming and fishing spots. There is a very large preserve close to the cottage that is home to much wildlife, including eagles in the last 2 years. A great place to explore for turtles and birds. In the fall there are many duck hunting activities and with all the wooded area it is a beautiful place to enjoy the Ohio fall colors and stunning sunsets all year round.

Each holiday is celebrated with community actvities from spectacular fireworks on the 4th of July to the "Ring of Fire" over Labor Day weekend. Many more activities are throughout the year and even into the winter the ice skating and fishing are enjoyable. There are snowmobiles on the lake when the water freezes in addition to ice skating.

There are 2 towns close by and a new flea market to make shopping close and convenient and exploring the treasures of the lake. On the way around the lake stop at the go cart tracks for a spin and the arcade to play electronic games the whole family can enjoy.

A short distance drive to these additional activities: Ohio Caverns, Marmon Valley Farms with several activities(including horseback riding) and Mad River Moutain Skiing.
