WEATHER TIPS:

Consistent Temperatures at 70 to 88 all year round temps. The rain is welcomed for a short cooling off, mostly near the mountain regions. Unless a tropical system is involved. Rain usually quickly passes to reveal the sun. This is especially the case in Makaha as it is shielded by the Waianae Mountain Range!

SPRING and SUMMER "in general" bring the most tranquil ocean tides and soft, warm ocean trade winds.

FALL and WINTER "in general" and seasonally our North & West beaches bring more consistent high wave action.

Tourist, locals and surfers come for the Van's World Class Surfing contests. The famous "Eddie" 2016 was spectacular !

Runs from Dec 1 through Feb 28th. With the Right conditions:

Wave Action of 40 ft faces, that very few surfers are qualified for in order to compete in this prestigious Event!

Oahu's West side: families kick-back evenings and weekends are spent daily on the beach until sundown. Chill under the stars here to really get away from it all!

Our Guests prefer the serene Makaha location over Waikiki, time and time again!

Come see why. ~ Aloha

Beautiful views of the mountain

  • 5 of 5

I loved waking up each morning and looking at the beautiful mountains to the left. Great bang for my buck. If you are vacationing on a budget, I would highly recommend this place. 4 people fit comfortably in this unit.

Janie is an amazing host. Thanks for the coffee and chocolate upon arrival. The closet is full of so many beach items to use. We used the rolling cooler daily to pack water.

Hi
5

A very clean and peaceful get away. All the comforts of home without all the work.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay at the Makaha Valley Plantation. We enjoy the peace and quiet, we are not city people, but you could be in town/city within minutes and having a beach just down the road that also wasn't overcrowded was the icing on the cake. From Makaha we explored almost the whole island and were able to come back to our own peaceful surroundings at the end of the day. It was also nice having the option to cook our own meals so we didn't have to spend a lot of time or money in restaurants. The condo unit had everything we needed or wanted from beach chairs, dishes to coolers/ ice packs to keep our drinks cold!

Enoyed the hospitality

Thank you Janie Jo,

We enjoyed our stay at your townhome in Makaha Valley. We valued the laid back environment of the country side and sincerely valued every effort that you personally made to create a hospital experience for us.

Owner's Response: Aloha Dave & Audrey, My pleasure to provide the exact days you needed, along with the personal touches of hospitality. :) The cool breezes from Makaha Valley are perfect to just "kick back" & Relax. The westside now has (2) top rated luau's: Paradise Cove and Chief's Luau's; another affordable, top rated, opt to taste Kalua pig direct from the IMU! Excellent music venues during the week & weekends. Prime ocean activities, year round, soft white sand beaches. Still the hidden gem. ~ Come back again soon! Mahalo, Janie

Lovely apartment in a beautiful valley

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our two weeks in this apartment. It was perfect for our family of 5. It was luxury to have all the beach equipment--beach chairs, many sets of snorkel/masks and flippers in many sizes, boogie boards and flippers. The kitchen was well equipped, there is air conditioning for the evenings, and there's a nice pool and hot tub. The mountains behind are lovely. It's about a 1/2 hour walk to Makaha Beach, which has great boogie boarding waves at times and we also really enjoyed snorkeling here when the water was calm (it is quite a long swim--lots of boat tours were coming here). A real bonus was the Buffalo Big Board Surfing Championship, which was on for the last two week-ends in February. Great fun to watch! Janie was very helpful (thanks for chocolates, coffee and CD) and suggested a great hike--Makapu'u Lighthouse on the southeast side of the island. Great hikes that were closer were the Ka'aena Point (whales, seals, albatrosses) and the Pu’U’Ohulu Kai Pillbox hike (great view, old military pillboxes.) As others have mentioned, the traffic is busy on the island, and you want to work around rush hour. It's a busy island, but this area seemed relaxed and fairly peaceful.

Owner's Response: Mahalo Karin, for taking time for such a wonderful review. We're tickled pink you and the boys went hiking out to Ka'ena seeing whales and the monk seals there! Glad you made use of all the beach gear for a fabulous two weeks of relaxing family time. Come see us again next year. Aloha, Janie

Wonderful Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My extended family found a peaceful place to stay for our first visit to Hawaii. The condo was well equipped with all kinds of things you might need beach gear, bath towels and board games (one of our favorites Aggravation). We even got a call from the owner checking in to make sure everything was going alright, very nice. The owner was also very helpful in providing information on navigating the local area as well as places to go and see on the island.
