The Best of Everything

  • 5 of 5

My husband grew up in Bemus Point and we visit every summer. This was our first stay at the Auer cottage and we couldn't be more pleased. Kari and Hans are wonderful hosts. We are so thankful for how easy they made it for us to stay at their cottage. The location is perfect with a beautiful view of the lake and easy access to restaurants and other activities. The cottage itself is comfortable and has everything you need for your stay. We thank Hans and Kari and hope to stay with them again when we visit the area.

Amazing location!

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I stayed here for two nights for a girls weekend. The location is great and you can walk to any of the restaurants in Bemus Point. We did the wine trail thing, which made coming back to this relaxing house that much better after a long day! The house is updated and immaculately clean. Also, Hans and Kari are great with offering suggestions and overall easy to book with.

A Bit of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

If you want to find a bit of paradise away from home, look no further than the Happy Auer Cottage. This recently remodeled cottage offers all the comforts you need. Its rooms are spacious and comfortable with beautiful furnishings. Tucked away in the large bathroom are the washer and dryer. No need to spoil your return trip home by having to do laundry, when you can keep up with while at the cottage. The fully furnished kitchen has everything you need from the full size refrigerator and stove, microwave and dishwasher to coffee pot, toaster, and Crockpot. A huge supply of towels for bathroom and kitchen is included as well as handsoap and dish soap. Toilet paper and paper towels were provided too. The porch out front was a favorite spot to sit. We spent each evening at the umbrella table relaxing and enjoying the view. If you need a slip down at the dock for a boat, that can be arranged. The Happy Auer cottage is in such a fabulous location. It is close (within walking distance) to several Bemus Point restaurants, church, post office, stores, and the floating stage at the lake. Now the best part......this wonderful cottage is owned by the nicest couple, Hans and Kari Auer. They will be sure that everything you need during your stay is taken care of. The parents of Hans live next door so they are available as well should some need arise. Not only were we sad to leave the cottage when our week was up, but also to leave these delightful people. We look forward not only to returning to the cottage but to our new friends, the Auers and their family. We highly recommend this vacation spot.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

First off, this cottage is owned by Hans and Kari Auer. They are awesome people. They are both very active in the community and strive to continually improve the lives of the residents and guests here in Chautauqua County. He is on numerous charitable and economic development boards and she is on the local school board. The have two talented children, a daughter and a son. Their family looks like the picture that comes with the frame you buy from Neiman Marcus.

The reason I bring this up is because we have stayed at rentals with unresponsive out-of-town owners and there is a huge difference. Kari and Hans would be mortified if someone came here and didn't have a great time. They are right around the corner if you have a problem, but it is unlikely you will have one. The Auers are one in a million.

The cottage is spacious and perfect. It was completely gutted and redesigned to maximize the space. It comfortably accommodates a family of five, if the three kids are willing to sleep in the same room. Only one bathroom, but it is big and hasn't been an issue at all for our family. It would be great for couples. It is well-constructed, super clean, and styled in good taste with contemporary and modern elements. Every inch of it is brand new construction. The tile work in the bathroom is first-rate. Two TVs and free WiFi. The kitchen had everything we needed.

It is in a residential neighborhood, but it is a fun, partying town. The locals are more likely to have a beer with you than call the police if you stay up late, but it's not the kind of place to blast music at all hours. We loved eating breakfast at the Lenhart Hotel... It's haunted. The Bemus Point Inn is another breakfast spot and is famous for giant cinnamon rolls. The Casino is a fun restaurant with video games for the kids. The See Zuhr House has outstanding food at a good price. The Italian Fisherman is pricier but excellent and has great entertainment.

Close to Chautauqua Institution.

The biggest advantage of renting from Hans and Kari is they know everyone. Hans' brother owns a marina so renting a boat is easy. The cottage comes with a dock slip.

We felt it was a great value in the summer months but would be a steal in the winter. Bemus Point isn't often considered for a winter rental, but it has great snowmobiling and is in the middle of several ski resorts.

Activity and Interests

Everything is within a stone's throw of this cottage, literally. The Lenhart, village park and Village Casino are in your back yard. Enjoy the Bemus Point Floating Stage Summer Concert Series just a short stroll away. Beautiful shopping in the village at Skillman's and the Musky Mall. Don't miss our new antigue boat museum, The Lawson Center located right across from the fabulous Hare- n- Hound Restaurant and next to the Italian Fisherman Restaurant. The See -Zurh House Restaurant is a local favorite for good times and great food as well. Don't forget ice cream cones at the Bemus Market. Save time for a round of golf at the Bemus Point Golf Course and bring your tennis rackets as the public courts are right up the street. Renowned Chautauqua Institution is a 10 minute drive. As current full time and lifelong residents of Bemus Point, we are excited to offer our guests a little slice of life on the lake!! Cheers, Hans and Kari Auer
