We truly enjoyed our time at the Mountain House. It was located near our flightseeing tour of Denali - spectacular! - and on the edge of the Alaskan wilderness. We enjoyed the nice kitchen, comfy furniture, and beautiful views. We even saw Denali from the deck on our final morning!
This place was amazing.
Wow, this place was amazing and the host was fabulous. Loved it. Thank you.
Out back in Talkeetna
I did like the site. It was quiet and still was a great home. Seven of us were able to keep together and apart as needed. Contact with the owner was quick and easy.
Roughing it in style!
This was our first trip to Alaska and such an amazing way to begin our stay. We love “remote” locations that are not too far away from town and this was perfect for us.
The backyard overlook of Denali, Foraker, and Hunter was a beautiful way to begin and end each day. The house was well stocked with towels, detergent and other items we needed. We met the ladies taking care of the house and grounds and they gave us great day excursion recommendations. The entire place was peaceful and quiet and was our home base for day excursions in Talkeetna, Denali and Trapper Creek.
The owners were very responsive with any questions and were very friendly. Despite the unusually high temperatures, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our only complaint was that because Mother Nature decided to raise the temps into the upper 80’s and 90’s and we weren’t able to open enough windows down and up stairs, we weren’t able to get a cross breeze. But we’re creative people and picked up some mosquito nets and placed them on the doorways to keep the bugs out and the breeze coming through.
We’d absolutely stay here again if we get the chance to come back!
beautiful view, unique house, plenty of room
Wonderful spot for a multi-family rental
Lovely place - definitely would be a great property for a multi-family rental when combined with the Stone Hut and Chalet. The 3 buildings are closer than I realized when renting just the one, and so it doesn’t feel very private (shared deck space and fire pit, etc) but would be perfect if it was all rented by one big group. The details of the home are lovely - including lots of hand painted wall art. Could use a few more place settings and utensils in the kitchen but was otherwise well appointed!
Outdoor activities abound in the Talkeetna area, including lakes and rivers for canoeing and rafting, as well as miles of hiking and biking trails. When you are ready to socialize the town of Talkeetna has five restaurants, a brewhouse, historic Fairview Inn, artist coop, performing arts theater, and a community center with weekly yoga classes. Denali Zipline is also open for business.
