Abinitio Tranquillo which means, Peace From The Beginning, is exactly what we have set out to create for ourselves and our guests. From our winding road that takes you past gigantic ferns, magnificent Redwoods and abundant wildlife; tranquility is just a step outside your car door.
This beautiful hilltop home offers the best of both worlds. Ocean views and distant ocean lullabies without the roar of the ocean keeping you awake at night and, yet, we are just down the hill from the beach. Watch the deer nibble nearby and wild turkeys gobble and strut as ocean vistas wash away your worries as you relax on the huge back deck. The front courtyard offers a quiet peaceful place for coffee as you listen to the fountain bubble amoungst the gorgeous flowers.
This beautifully furnished two bedroom home with it's giant loft sleeps six. Enjoy the airiness of the master bedroom with its new king-size mattress and four-poster bed. A large window seat makes you feel as if you are high in the trees staring out at the ocean that lays before you. The master bath features a large walk-in closet with a shower for two and radiant heat flooring.
The loft offers a large comfy brand new Indonesian day-bed with twin mattress that cuddles the body while the library stimulates the mind.
The ground-floor bedroom has queen size mattress with subtle soothing colors and beach-theme decor. A sliding door to the outside deck means you can watch the sunset in privacy if you wish. Across the hall is the bathroom with radiant heat flooring that keep your tootsies warm and a large jacuzzi tub which might just warm your heart and that of your loved one during a romantic evening. There is also a single roll-away mattress.
The living room features elegant furniture including a sofa window seat, television/dvd combo and stereo with a record player. Because we have created Abinitio Tranquillo with the intention of promoting peace and re-discovering ourselves and our children we have intentionally chosen not to have internet nor cable TV. Instead we have a library of over 100 DVD's to cuddle up with one another when we have some down time and a closet full of games. Believe me, every family should try doing without all the gagets if they want to discover one another all over again.
The cheery and bright kitchen features a convection oven, microwave, dishwasher, and cappuccino making machine with brand new dishes and pots and pans. A new refrigerator (2016) with ice maker and a bar sink complete the picture.
With easy access to Gualala and with its trendy shops, artist galleries and groceries (approx 10 minutes), Annapolis Winery and Alexander's Restaurant you have everything you need at your fingertips. And with our neighbor's house available for rent next door you can easily hold that family reunion that you have always been dreaming about.
It is with extreme sorrow that we have to say that we no longer allow pets due to abuse of our home by animals.
Well that picture you see is at our 25th anniversary almost two years ago.
We have five children of various ethnicities and ages. We also have 2 grandchildren with a third on the way...how did we get so old?
We are both native Midwesterners. He is originally from Iowa and I was born in Michigan.
I first saw Sea Ranch in 1979 when I was married to my first husband. We looked at the brochure and my heart sunk because I thought I would never ever be able to afford to live in this beautiful area. Fast forward about 35 years and I still am not living here but hope to eventually when we retire. Dreams really can come true.
Cheryl Dieter purchased this house in 2012
We bought at Sea Ranch because it is our absolute without a doubt favorite place to be in the entire world. This is where we go to re-discover ourselves and our family. It is where we go to relax and unwind.
I have a unique perspective because I write travel articles and have been fortunate to have traveled all over. But by far my favorite place is right here at Sea Ranch.
We also bought this property because one of our children may need to continua living with us into adulthood and this property can have an artist studio connected to it. The people here are wonderful and we think they will be good to our son when he is an adult.
We bought this place because of the lovely front garden. That sold us which is incredibly funny because I do not have a green thumb. None the less we can still have our dreams!
We also love the fact that we are surrounded by beautiful redwood trees but have an ocean view. I know some love being almost on top of the ocean but I am a light sleeper and the loud booming crash of the waves keeps me up at night while the whisper of the redwoods lulls me to sleep.
This is a fabulous place in the trees and the ocean view is pretty great too. Everything is brand new, extremely clean and comfortable. It belongs in a magazine; it was just that pretty. There were games galore for the kids and lots of exploring to do. The Sea Ranch pools were a big hit. We will be back next year. By far the best property we have rented and the price can't be beat!
The initial access was very confusing and required an urgent call to the owner for clarification. Apparently, other renters had the same problem.
A lot of small stuff like burned out light bulbs, outdated appliances (you have to light the stove with a match ) no ice in the ice maker etc.
Also, cleaning service needs attention. Coffee maker wasn't cleaned nor was the fireplace. No soap in the bathroom.
We relaxed the moment we saw this beautiful place. From the architecture to the abundant art, comfortable furniture, fully stocked kitchen, views of the redwoods and the ocean; the ample games and movies to the Jacuzzi tub and more, it exceeded our expectations. Thank to the Dieters for sharing their lovely home with us. We look forward to more visits there.
The drive to Sea Ranch is beautiful and upon arrival the drive up the hill and on to the drive way to the entrance of the home is so enchanting. As we opened the gate it reminded me of the book The Secret Garden! And I fell in love. The home is open and airy. So spacious for our family if 6. We cooked in the beautiful kitchen that had all the pots, pans, plates etc. We BBQ in the backyard while sipping wine watching the sunset. Played games and watched that were provided. Mornings were so magical waking up in the master bedroom with a few if the red woods that are never ending. This is the most peaceful and serene weekend we ever had. The property is very well maintained, super clean and owner provided many instructions to help get around town. 3 community pools with showers are clean and close by.... Fishing, horses, shopping little boutiques and enjoying fresh seafood caught in the morning from local fisherman is purely the best time ever!
We had a lovely time at Abinitio Tranquillo. The home is lovely and we only wish we could have stayed longer. We especially enjoyed the fire place and the deck. Felt like we were in the forrest. Hiking trails practically out the door. Lovely beaches with hidden coves. We will be back for sure!
My family of three absolutely loved every minute of our four-day stay at Abinitio Tranquillo. Cheryl; the homeowner answered our emails promptly and gave us thorough information about the house, the resort and nearby amenities. The house itself is lovingly cared for and it shows in every detail. The courtyard entry is charming and when you open the front door; Wow! High, airy ceilings, large windows opening to a relaxing back deck give the house a lovely indoor outdoor flow. The home is well stocked with children DVD's and a good selection for parents as well. Lots of current magazines and books as well. We had everything we needed in the kitchen to cook meals, including a pasta dish and a soup. The refrigerator looks brand new. Everything was spotlessly clean. The downstairs full bath and nearby bedroom gave our young adult son plenty of privacy while Mom and Dad had the privacy of the cool loft with daybed for reading and the master suite with king size bed. The mattress is very comfortable too which really pleased my husband. The master suite in on the second story with huge windows looking out through the trees; it's a magical location. The small town of Gualala is about a 10 minute drive away. We were able to purchase a good selection of foods and snacks from the two grocery stores there. Morning espresso drinks and pastries (or full breakfasts if that's your thing) at Trinks in Gualala was our standard way to begin the day. Trinks does an outstanding tapas dinner on Wednesday evenings; it's one of the best meals we've had in quite a wile. Dining at St. Orres just past Gualala is awesome, especially for a special occasion. My family definitely wants to return here for future vacations. I will highly recommend Abinitio Tranquillo to friends and family
Beautiful home in a lovely location. Stunning view from the deck. Very clean and fully supplied with sheets and towels. The owner, Cheryl, answered all inquiries promptly and completely. We would be happy to return.
