House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 8 Sleeps
Thank you for your interest. We are presently accepting bookings for 2017. See calendar for availability.
This circa 1880 Victorian home is in Point Chautauqua on Chautauqua Lake, a beautiful lakeside resort community of quaint homes on winding lanes and towering trees. The 4-bedroom/2-bath house is NOT lakefront but just about 100 yards from the lake along a paved community path. If you have interest in booking during our 2016 summer rental season please contact me after viewing my availability calendar.
Please note 5% Chautauqua County occupancy tax is added to all rentals.
The vacation home has been professionally decorated to make it a warm, relaxing spot. Sit and relax on the charming front porch or enjoy the privacy of the side porch and patio. Enjoy the extensive perennial gardens from the hammock, arbor swing or garden bench. Totally renovated and freshly decorated with modern kitchen and baths. First floor queen bedroom and full bath; twin beds, twin bed w/pop-up trundle and a double bed in three upstairs bedrooms plus 2nd full bath; patio with gas grill, patio chiminea, table and chairs; large fenced yard; mooring and non-motorized dingy available. Watch the sunset over the lake from a bench or swing on the Point. Point Chautauqua achieved national historic status due to the 1875 design and of its quiet streets and community areas by Frederick Law Olmsted, an eminent 19th century landscape designer. It was his idea of the perfect terrain, hillside beside water. Many of the homes reflect the Victorian era.
Please note: Maximum occupancy is 8 guests including infants and children; no pets. We rent Friday-Friday full 7-day weeks only from end ofJune until Labor Day. 3-day weekend and week day availability after Labor day. Labor day weekend rents as a 4-day weekend.

Guestbook comments from the manager
Our family has stayed at this awesome property for several years. The property is well appointed inside and out, the owner is very accommodating, and all our needs and wants are met regardless of age, from 3 to 66. The neighbors are very friendly too, inviting us every year to the annual community corn roast. Some of the best parts are our grandchildren being able to play in a fenced in back yard, kayaking on the lake, relaxing in the hammock, and taking walks in the historic surroundings of the neighborhood. Future guests should not have second thoughts about this rental.

We had a great 1 month vacation at this lovely, well appointed home. The decorating gave it a cozy, homey feel. The home is equipped with just about anything needed. The backyard was great for family barbecues and relaxing. The front porch was another wonderful place to gather. Reason for 4 stars is because it happened to be was one of the hottest summers for western New York and with no air conditioning it was very uncomfortable at times, but fans did help some. Despite the no air conditioning we are considering returning next year.
A Summer of Memories
You feel at home from the minute you step onto the front porch; grab your book and sit back in one of the rocking chairs. The bedrooms are pristine and the backyard a haven for gardeners. Roast marshmallows at night and watch hummimgbirds and finches at sunrise. This home will be your summer home and a place where your families' memories are built and recalled for years to come.
Beautiful, cozy home away from home
Our trip to Chautauqua Institution is the highlight of our year. We were so fortunate to have found this perfect location for our stay and have been renting for years. The home is well maintained and decorated beautifully, with love. Each year, we feel we are welcomed home again.
A great vacation home!
We had a wonderful vacation at this home! It was perfect for our 2 families (including 4 kids)-- we especially appreciated the games/books/toys that were available, and having a pack and play on property definitely cut down on packing for our friends with 2 babies. The fenced in yard was safe for our kids to explore in, and we enjoyed watching the hummingbirds in the beautiful garden and bird feeders. My kids would say their favorite part was fishing off the dock and going for a boat ride in the dingy.
This is our 2nd year staying in this area, and I really loved the location. My husband and daughter took advantage of the nearby golf course. We spent lots of time on the swings by the lake, and my friend and I took a mom's afternoon at nearby wineries. It was a great stay, and we loved staying at this house.
Beautiful, comfortable, clean, and well-appointed!
My parents, children, husband, and I took our first Chautauqua vacation in mid-October during the peak season for fall colors, and we had a wonderful time! The house was very spacious for the 6 of us, and cozy and comfortable at the same time. It was extremely clean (so my mother was happy), it had wifi (so my children were happy), it had cable (so my husband and father were happy), and it had a great, updated kitchen (so I was happy)! The house was very charming and well-decorated; I REALLY loved the curtains and rugs. It had everything we needed. The walk to the lake was short and beautiful on the brisk mornings. Staying at the Paul home at Point Chautauqua was just like staying at home...only cleaner and nicer! I would not hesitate to rent it again, especially since the price is such a great value for the area.
In love with this house!
Look no further than this charming, comfortable, well-equipped, and totally captivating house. As soon as we entered the door we knew we made the right choice! While unpacking and moving around the house, we sensed this overwhelming feeling of family and home. The house is artistically and uniquely appointed; the kitchen has everything you'll need; the bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds; mostly importantly, it's CLEAN! The owners thought of everything, both inside and out. The gardens are lovingly planned and tended and were a great place to enjoy our morning coffee. Swinging on the hammock or under the trellis woven with honeysuckle was a great way to end a challenging day of fly fishing. Because the house was so welcoming, we found ourselves spending more time there than we originally planned. The owners are great to work with and are totally responsive. They fully answered every one of our questions pre rental and were super responsive while we were in the home. This was our maiden voyage to Chautauqua, and friends recommended that we stay either at Bemus Point or on the Institution grounds. Chautauqua Point is so much better and this house is just perfect!
