This property is located on the tranquil Rock River in Oregon, Illinois and is perfect for a couple or family to get away. Enjoy fishing from the large deck or while out on the water with your boat. There is a boat ramp available in town and one hundred feet of river frontage at the house for convenient docking and ease of use. The barbecue will come in handy when you want to keep an eye on your fishing pole while preparing a delicious meal.

There are two bedrooms with two beds each. The master bedroom has two new queen beds. They are supremely comfortable so that you will sleep like a baby! The living room has two full couches and entertainment center. Views of the river are also enjoyed from the bar in the sunroom. Our friendly neighbors might give you a wave.

Explore nature on any of the hiking trails of the surrounding three state parks. You'll find many activities to interest you such as horseback riding, dinner cruises, golf, and swimming at nearby lakes! Ask us where to find the bald eagle's nest! Bring your canoe, kayak, or other water sport toys.

Pleasant place for outdoor enthusiasts

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a week off at this nice place at the end of July, 2016. The house is spacious enough for a family of four or five and has all the stuff you might need including linens, cookware, etc. It is a bit old, but very clean and cozy. Beds are very comfortable and the place is really quiet. Tanzie is a perfect host carefully arranging everything and very responsive.

The house is on the river, so fishing is an obvious pastime as well as reading or sunbathing on the porch. There are at least four awesome places for hiking within 20 minutes’ drive: Lowden and Castle Rock State parks, Lowden-Miller Forest and White Pines Forest State park. Children may like Lake Louise in Byron – it is a clean, warm and shallow lake with a life-guarded beach. For kayaking try “White Pelican” in Oregon. And do check the local “Supervalu” store – you can be amazed with its wine selection.

Greatest vacation I've had with my grandchildren. The accommodations were wonderful and comfortable. We enjoyed the beautiful Rock River...fishing, tubing, campfires at night. It was so relaxing and peaceful sitting on the deck by the river. If you want a quiet, relaxing vacation, this place is perfect! Hope to stay here again next year!

Quiet and comfortable, good value

  • 4 of 5

Excellent hideaway location on the river for peace and quiet after a long weekend at the drag strip. Nice place to relax and cook and share a cocktail. It's an older structure and could use a few updates but it is still clean and comfortable.

Easy-going, relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and two other couples stayed two nights for a weekend away without our kids -- this house was a perfect escape! Right on the river with all the amenities you need to relax and enjoy the company.

Oregon is a cute small town, and we took a fantastic float trip down the Rock River that brought us past the house.

Tanzie was very helpful with all of our questions. We hope to return!

This was a perfect getaway house for my girlfriends and I for the weekend. The view outside is breathtaking. The inside of the home was clean and welcoming. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of blankets and pillows. The owner was very kind and responded quickly to questions. The town was very charming. We will be visiting this home again!

Hidden gem!

  • 5 of 5

We're from Schaumburg, IL and came here on a family trip earlier this month (June), and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! The house was tidy, comfortable, and accommodating. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was stocked with utensils, dishes, and appliances. Our favorite part was the deck, which was basically on top of Rock River! The fishing was great, and we enjoyed just hanging out. The scenery, nature, and night sky were perfect. The location is great: quiet and peaceful but only a short drive to town. Grocery stores + restaurants are nearby [be sure to check out Alfano's! Great food + awesome service!] The neighbors (and their dogs) were friendly. Tanzie, the owner, was wonderful about staying in touch and keeping us informed. She answered texts + questions in a very timely manner. Not to mention that the rates are very fair/reasonable. NO COMPLAINTS!

We've been to many different cabins -- in Illinois, Wisconsin, even Canada -- and this has been the best place so far. Thank you, Tanzie, for sharing your home with us. We are looking forward to staying here again... and SOON! We had a blast, and it was a great family trip.
