Our stay in this cabin was perfection. The cabin is rustic and nestled in the woods, it was exactly what we wanted. It has the feel of being secluded from civilization but it's not. It was also nice to have the windows and sliding glass doors open instead of using ac, although there is an ac unit, you won't need it. The cabin came equipped with everything you could possibly need for cooking. It was perfect because we hosted my sisters high school graduation cookout here. It made preparing food so much easier. It was comfortable and spacious for all 9 of us to visit and enjoy ourselves without feeling cramped. My family only lived about 4 miles from the cabin so it made it so easy to go visit with them. I also loved the proximity to everything too. It was only about a 10 minute ride at most to Franklin and about 15 minutes to Highlands. Mr. Clarke (owner) is absolutely amazing, such a nice guy and so easy to talk to. I highly recommend staying here. It felt like our home away from home. It was everything we wanted and more. We will definitely be booking again in the future.

Nice Little Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Our week spent at the Duck Inn was just what we were looking for, it's a quiet, peaceful and rustic location in the woods, but close to Franklin. A nice wrap around deck for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. Our host Tim was friendly and accommodating. He allowed us to stay with our little dog also. We can't wait to come back and stay a little longer.

Excellent venue.

  • 5 of 5

Tim Clarke provides an ideal quiet venue, off the beaten track. Well prepared. Could possibly have done with a bit of airing out before the start of the season - little bit damp. Otherwise, a perfect venue and host.

Owner's Response: Sorry my guests felt some dampness but it had rained in Franklin almost everyday for 2 weeks prior to my guests arrival. Everyone I spoke to in Franklin was sick of it. Had been keeping the cabin windows and sliders open for some ventilation. We all felt better when this weather event moved on.

Home away from home!!

  • 5 of 5

This is a perfect place for a complete getaway. The cabin is equipped with everything you could possibly need. The location is ideal for anything you would want to do in the area. Since we choose to go in October, it was picture perfect with the leaves turning right on time. Franklin has a Pumpkin Fest the weekend before halloween, and is well worth a visit. The owner of the property is always available for questions and tips on the area. We wish we could have spent more time there.

A perfect slice of heaven nestled in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

From the serenity of the placement atop the secluded drive, to the peaceful pond to the gentle sounds of nature we were never more relaxed or 'at home' than at Duck Inn. The 1 bedroom was all we needed but with our 8-10 visitors for BBQ (on an amazing, new grill no less) the open floor plan was perfect to accomodate! The kitchen was fully stocked with all the pots and pans needed to whip of any meal you need to feed just two or an Army. The outdoor wrap-around deck was perfect for the morning cups of coffee, reading a book or just seeking the solitude of the trees or just quietly watching the pond below. We caught (and gently returned) some Salamanders to show the grandchildren and were able to spot some Koi and other teeming life in the large pond. We found the cabin perfectly 'rustic' with hot water and even AC that we didn't have to use! There were two other beds (hide-a-way and a futon) that we didn't need but will on a future trip. All in all we couldn't have been happier! The pictures don't do this place justice with all the amenities/conveniences it offered, though we were still please it represented well how perfectly nestled and secluded it was but close enough to Tim Clark if we needed him. He was the perfect host and very gracious. Our family ended up living only 2 miles from this place so it was perfect for our needs, but the drive to Clayton, Downtown Franklin, Bryson City, Dillard (and even Cherokee would be doable) for Rafting, Antiquing, Gem Mining, or just sightseeing is ideal!

Thank you again, Tim! We will definitely be back!
