We had a wonderful stay at this location. Perfect stay for a weekend get-away in Newport. Walking distance to everything in town and just a cozy two bedroom apartment. Would highly recommend it to anyone planning a stay.

A Perfect Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is my second time staying at this property. The location is fabulous and the property is spacious and well maintained. A close walk to all the mansions on Bellevue Avenue, Thames Street, shops, restaurants, the beach, everything you could ask for. Joan was easily accessible if we had any questions. She was a delight and had the fridge stocked for us with water, milk and a keurig. We will definitely be back and sure to recommend this location to any family or friends visiting the Newport area.

The house is in a quiet neighborhood & is in a great location! The bedrooms are at opposite ends, which provides privacy if someone else is with you. The house is very charming.

A welcome, well located, base in America's First Resort

  • 5 of 5

The 1845 House is welcoming, comfortable and well located. It was perfect for the three of us and for our well-behaved dog. We hope to return.

We recommend Michael and Joan's property to anyone who wants to explore Newport, a place that deserves its title as "America's First Resort." We enjoyed an outstanding morning at Ft. Adams, capped by a good lunch from the notable food truck there (The Standing Fork) and a long stroll for the dog; a memorable evening at First Beach (arriving at 5:00 pm we did not incur the parking charge and stayed for sunset and a spectacular moonrise); a beautiful walk on the Cliff Walk and many short walks through Newport in the vicinity of Touro Park, along Bellevue, over to historic St. Mary's Church, and down to the waterfront through the old town.

We liked the house so much that we took our dinners "at home," bringing a light supper with us on the first night and followed by carryout seafood from the Flo's Clamshack near the beach on the second night. Our only regret was that we could not stay longer. Our son has an orthopedic disability but is able to use canes indoors and navigate a few steps. The house was thus accessible enough for us. Joan is friendly and answered all of our questions. The house also has helpful, enjoyable reading material about Newport. All-in-all a great trip in a fine place!
