Lowkey beach Getaway

Location and the back porch make the property worth it. It is a perfect lowkey getaway.

Only Cons are that the property is on the bay right where the boats drop of snorkelers. 3-4 boats constantly shuttling people. When they are not there, the bay is nice and you can watch boats but it is a little crowded when all the snorkelers are there.

Great beach spot!

There is a large deck overlooking the beach. And the beach is very nice with minimal waves compared to the other beaches. Also a volleyball net. If you get a chance to walk out on the rocks you can see several dolphins.

Great place, great view, great price!

We stayed here for a girls weekend in April 2016. We drove 12 hours from Illinois and it was worth every minute in the car. You can't beat the location close to everything but still very private. The balcony is amazing most defiantly my favorite part. While the walk to the beach is a little daunting upon first site, for 3 young adults it was no trouble and the private beach more than makes up for any inconvenience in the walk! We had the whole beach to ourselves the entire weekend! Bart was great with answering questions and setting everything up. The only reason we gave it a 4 star was upon arrival the cleaning girls were kicked back on the couch on their phones and I had to clean a few things (dust,crumbs, etc nothing horrible) before we could settle in. Not a big deal everything else was great and it was a minor inconvenience to an overall great stay. We plan on returning very soon!!!

I was very disappointed in this property. Part of the reason I chose this place was that so many gave it a 5 star review. To me, any property that is rated so well should be pretty nice. Nautical Way is anything but nice. The property itself is rather run-down. The floors are crooked, doors don't properly latch, a lot of the tiles are cracked, the walls are filthy- it looks like it's about 15 years overdue for a paint job. It felt more like a place that should charge by the hour than a beach property.

Also, I felt that I was ripped off on the cleaning fee as the place wasn't very clean to begin with. There was sand all over the floor and couch when we arrived as well as dirty spots around the floor- especially the fridge, indicating it hadn't been mopped in some time. There was also toothpaste spots in the bathroom and a lot of dust everywhere. Upon entering, the smell of mildew was unmistakable. We had wanted to make meals there, but who wants to cook or eat in a dirty place? We ended up eating out the whole time as a result. We also noticed that the mattress wasn't that comfortable. Given the condition of the property as a whole, I checked the mattress tag. Sure enough, that thing is 18 years old.

We were also given incorrect information regarding parking. We were told that we could park in one of the garages. Well, they were both full of junk. Unless you are driving a motorcycle, you aren't going to be parking in there. We were also told that we could park in the painted spot in front of the garage. Perhaps at some point there was a spot number there, but there's not now. There is, however, a sign stating that unauthorized vehicles will be towed. I'm not sure who determines who is authorized, so I was worried we'd end up towed. Luckily, that wasn't the case.

I knew that there would be a walk to the beach, but the closest spot isn't the best for swimming as boats bring people over for snorkling and it gets crowded. If you keep going to the left after the rocks you can find a good spot, but that's a serious walk. We ended up driving to the beach at the state park one day because it was a lot easier.

The only positives I can give it is that it has a very nice view and it has a lot of room. However, that is just not worth it. For the price, you can find something else a lot nicer.

Owner's Response: If you are a guest at my condo and have any cleaning issues, simply call me. I will fix them and work in every way possible to resolve any issues you may have. Reading this review was the notice I had of any issues this guest had. I did answer several questions she had during her stay, and had amicable conversations each time. -I thoroughly cleaned the unit myself the Sunday prior. I might have walked back in to and tracked sand in, but I don't think so. As soon as a guest walks into this beachfront unit, sand comes in on their shoes. I have a shoe rack placed at the door to help solve this problem. -The place was most definitely mopped, and there was certainly no toothpaste spots in the bathroom, as I definitely clean the toothpaste every time. I personally perform and supervise the cleaning of all my rental units in Destin. -I paint my unit every October after the busy season ends. The walls are not dirty, but there are scratches, I assume from furniture being moved around, and luggage scraping the wall. -I have several homes and rentals, and used to own a wholesale furniture import company. I have over thirty mattresses in use and I'm storing double that in brand new mattresses. I change this mattress last year, and I change all my rental mattresses at least every three years. When the mattress is made has nothing to do with how long it has been in use. -As soon as you open the door to hear the crashing waves, and feel the ocean breeze, it only takes a few minutes to for flat surfaces to collect dust. I thoroughly dust before every arrival. -I send a letter to every guest with instructions for everything, including parking. I communicated verbally and in writing about this special situation prior to this arrival, and I will continue to do this with every guest as any special circumstances arise. -The walk to the water is 3-5 minutes depending on your speed, and there is plenty of beach in both directions. You can't stop a boat from anchoring near the beach, but they do like this spot because the water is calm, which is also great for swimming. It is the best and most popular snorkeling spot on the Gulf Coast. -I only charged $350 for the weekend
