Relax on your private deck with beautiful views of San Diego Bay, the downtown skyline, Coronado Island, and the nearby mountains. Watch the fighter jets take off from North Island and frequent sail boat races. Where else can you have lovely sunrises and watch the sunset reflected off the skyline from the same deck chair? And YES, all the view photos shown in our listing are taken from our (your) patio deck!

Our home is located less than 10 minutes from the airport, Shelter Island, Harbor Island, downtown, and walking distance to restaurants, shops, yoga, a bakery, farmer's market (Sundays) and the bay. You can see the hills of Balboa Park where the San Diego Zoo is located. Sea World is 15 minutes around the corner. The border is 25 minutes to the south. The lights in Mexico are visible at night from your deck! Walk over to buy fresh fish from Point Loma Seafood, pick up a bottle of wine from The Grape Connections on your way by and stop at the bakery for some dessert or fresh bread for the morning. Or skip all that and enjoy one of HarborTown's 17 beers on tap.

Newly added to this listing are a number of local attractions that we think you will like, along with our reviews. Look right under 'Location' to learn more and click on 'View Guide powered by gogobot' right above Owner Info.

Your cozy apartment with private entrance and private deck includes everything you'll need for making your San Diego vacation a most memorable experience. The kitchenette is newly remodeled and the queen bed is very comfortable. We think you will be most comfortable with two people but please inquire if you have need for a 3rd guest. Parking is excellent.

Your hosts, Toni and Dave, live just above and will be on hand, when needed, to answer any questions and provide recommendations for the many activities and sights San Diego has to offer. When we are home we're pretty quiet so you will hardly know we're here. You're likely to see more of our cat than us! If you want to take it easy and save money, don't rent a car and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. There is a path along the water that is very nice at night. We often walk down there. Overall, we think we have the best value in all of Pt Loma. Please read through our reviews to see what those who visit with us are saying.

*** RECENT UPDATE. As we travel more, we are also open to renting the main part of our home, 2 bedrooms, located above the apartment with the same, great views, plus a private deck and garden area in the back, and more. Please let us know if you are interested, especially if the time you wish to visit shows unavailable. ***

Lastly, if you have ever considered vacationing in Costa Rica, please ask us about that and also see our beautiful vacation rental there. vrbo #651712

About the Owner

We met on Dave's birthday (which is New Year's Eve) in 2007 and found we both enjoyed traveling, working in our garden, having friends over to our home, and especially being together. In 2010 we became engaged and in 2011 we bought our home in Point Loma. We were happily married in August 2014.

When we first stood on the deck and looked out at the same view you will have, we knew this was the home we wanted. We've spent the first year remodeling and making both our living area and the apartment into a warm, inviting, comfortable place to live and share with the many new VRBO friends who will be coming to vacation with us.

We've traveled to a number of wonderful destinations and we often use VRBO to find a place to stay rather than the sterile confines of a hotel. Everyone we've met has been very gracious and friendly, and that is what you can expect from us.

Toni has retired and is usually available for questions. When we are home we're pretty quiet so you will hardly know we're here. You're likely to see more of our two cats than us!

Amazing Property With Even Better Hosts

  • 5 of 5

I can not stress enough how amazing this property is! First of all the view is something you will find yourself taking pictures of day and night due to its beauty. The actual rental is a nice sized well equipped mini apartment with anything and everything you may need (including some wine supplied by Dave and Toni). These hosts clearly know how to create a warm and welcoming environment as they stock the apartment with everything you may need and they also are quick to come down and offer any assistance and recommendations which my girlfriend and I found to be super useful. The area is very quiet and safe and everything is either walkable or a $5-15 uber ride away which was super convenient. When we come back to San Diego, this is absolutely going to be our first choice again. Thanks so much Dave and Toni you made our trip amazing!

Owner's Response: Ryan, thanks for your very kind and detailed review. We're glad we could help make your girlfriend's first trip to San Diego so memorable. We hope the trip up the coast and the Bay Area was equally enjoyable. And thanks for pointing out how easy it is to get around San Diego! Please come back and see us soon. Dave & Toni

Very good stay

  • 4 of 5

This is the perfect place for a stay in San Diego ; close to everything, super view of downtown and coronado Island. The deck is absolutely incredible, you will "live" on it. The appartment is convenient and practical, a little bit dated, but we felt secure and in good hand with the owners just above, who were super helpful with many little needs we had. Nice care from them from arrival to departure. Thanks to both of you....

Owner's Response: Syl, thanks for the review and we're glad that you both had a relaxing time. Many travelers coming to San Diego for the first time know we have great weather and plenty of fun things to do, but they still wonder about things such as parking, and security and we do think we have a great location with no issues in any of those areas. Hope you can come back again!

Wonderful San Diego escape

  • 5 of 5

I was attending a conference downtown but wanted a more private and quiet stay than the typical conference hotel would offer. Dave and Toni's apartment in Point Loma is a 20 min drive (although only about 5 miles) from the Marriott Marquis and was a perfect, quiet, comfortable, friendly, upscale escape. The patio with it's panoramic views and chiminea was the perfect place for happy hour. The indoor space was very comfortable and beautifully appointed.

I would recommend without hesitation and hope to return my travel ever brings me back to San Diego

Owner's Response: Thanks, Margaret. Some of our guests have even been using the bikes to ride to downtown San Diego because it is so close by. I hope your travels will lead you back here again soon! Dave & Toni

excellent choice

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Dave & Toni's place in May and had a great time. It was quiet, comfortable and had an amazing view that we enjoyed with our morning coffee and evening glass of wine. It was a new San Diego neighborhood for us and we found great scenic walks, nearby restaurants and no parking difficulties. We would definitely stay here again.

Thanks!

Best San Diego Stay

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed here from 4/30/16-5/7/16 and have nothing but great things to share! From the early check in, to the amazing balcony views, to the great service from Dave & Toni-it by far exceeded our expectations! It was my 32nd bday and Dave’s retirement party (owner of the apartment), & they invited us up to enjoy some wine and hang out. They offered their bicycles to ride and Dave helped us to adjust the seats to make it a more comfortable ride. Try to take a day to ride downtown and visit SeaPort Village. Parking can be a bit pricey in that area, so enjoy the scenic route. We hung out at La Jolla Cove and surrounding area for the day and listened to the sea lions, then hiked Torrey Pines near the Golf course (look for Torrey Pines scenic drive and go to the end). We spent one day on Coronado Island (I def recommend you check out Hotel de Coronado and grab a cocktail outside or just roam around and check out the lobby). Gorgeous beaches there too. We had a rental car and drove up the coast to LA and stopped at Venice Beach and Santa Barbara along the way. We saw a live taping of The Voice (thx again Toni for printing those tickets!) at Universal Studios then explored some of our now favorite restaurants/bars we had only heard of on TV prior to this trip (SUR, The Abbey, Pump-all w/in walking distance). You don’t need a rental car in San Diego because there are many things to do w/in walking distance from the rental. Def take the walk to the private beach that they recommend on this site. Humphrey’s by the Bay is one of these walkable destinations and try to get a seat at the live show. If it’s sold out (like it was on our trip), pack up the cooler and some chairs and you can hear the music from the parking lot overlooking the bay with the city lights. You should def check out a Padres game at Petco park even if you’re not into baseball. They have a beach and a whiffle ball park inside the stadium! USS Midway Museum is worth the $20 entry fee. Plan about 3 hrs here. Balboa Park has lots of museums to see, we did Museum of Man and The Cannibal, with the Tower Tour. The San Diego Zoo also lives up to it's hype-you should plan a few hrs here as well. The Stone Brewery in Liberty Station is closeby and has outdoor & indoor seating worth checking out. Overall, best trip to Cali ever and I'm looking into possibly booking this place for my parents' anniversary in September! Enjoy :)

Owner's Response: OH my gosh! It makes us want to come visit!! Of yes, we live here. I don't think anyone has done more in a single week than you two did. You certainly hit many of the highlights plus a few we did not know about, Thank you for your kind review and we look forward to having you back. Dave & Toni

Feels just like home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Dave and Toni's for 3 nights last month. This was our second time using their place as a base as we stayed in Sam Diego. The location is great (close proximity to highways, La Jolla, Coronado, etc.) and there's lots of amaxing eateries within walking distance. The apartment is comfortable with everything you need, and Dave and Toni are great hosts!

If we decide to return to San Diego again next March Break, this will be our first choice accommodation once again!
