Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, 7 Sleeps on a 5 Acre Private Estate

80+ years ago when this log cabin was originally built, hundreds of cabins dotted the lake shore and surrounding mountains, but today, this historic building is the only such family cabin on Clearlake that you can rent to relive that backwoods experience. Located on a five acre private estate in secluded honeymoon cove.

Our Family Cabin was quite large for cabins built in it's day, and includes three rooms. The front room is a large open dining room and living room with a Murphy bed hidden in the wall. On the right is kitchen, updated a bit but still rather vintage. In the back is a large bedroom with both a bunk bed and another Murphy bed that comes down from the wall. Both rooms have lake views and connect to a bathroom with a claw foot tub.

Ideal for small children as the lake has a gradual entry into the lake and they don't have to dive off a dock or wall to get into the water.

Labor Day Weekend at the Honeymoon Cove Estate

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent a wonderful Labor Day weekend at the Honeymoon Cove Estate. We stayed in the smaller of the two 1930s cabins (cabin #2), which was ideal for us. The kitchen is well equipped, and the Murphy beds and bunk beds were actually very comfortable. There is a Weber grill on the deck. The deck overlooks the lake and is perfect for eating outside. (Parking is super easy - right next to the cabin.)

The vintage windows, neat old (but efficient) stove and claw foot bathtub all contribute to the history of the place and create a restful atmosphere at Honeymoon Cove Estate. There is a hammock, picnic tables, swings and a dock right on the lake for visitors. It feels very private, and was wonderful to spend so much time in the water on such a hot weekend.

The owner has invested in several new portable air conditioners which cooled our cabin very well, even on a 100+ degree weekend. We toured the larger cabin which is certainly big enough for a large family or multiple families.

Make sure to get a copy of their “what to pack” list – it’s very helpful. Visitors are very warmly greeted and no request goes unattended. Payments are clear and refunds promptly made.

Next time, we may rent jet skis, but we enjoyed our inflatable boat and other lake toys. Our son caught a very good size largemouth bass from the dock.

We toured a few local wineries (including Boatique Winery), enjoyed an excellent lunch at The Spot ... and drove around the lake.

And thank you for being dog friendly!

Family fun.

Great grounds and access to lake. Family fun, beautiful location with lots of shade. Cabin is rustic but adds character to the experience. Friendly management and owner.

Total Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

This property is a hidden GEM. I almost don't want to write this review so no one learns about this place, and it will be available for all my many to come return visits. I chose to write it, however, because the host was so wonderful and the experience so over the top that I feel compelled. First of all, the location is so out of the way of mainstream traffic that you feel like you have left civilization and traveled to a destination way far away. Right after unpacking, I walked outside and a BALD EAGLE flew right over my head. The property is so wonderfully laid out and the grounds are so beautiful. There are so many little places you can go to sit, swing, RELAX. You are right on the water and it is everything you could hope for in a rustic setting. There is swimming, fishing right off the pier ( I caught a large mouth bass). There is a very serene, quiet lake. The lack of boat traffic in this cove was very peaceful. The 500 foot private beach was so clean. At night we would lay on the beach and watch the stars. I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is. We had the overhead front door on at night and there were practically NO BUGS at all. (we did catch a praying mantis for the girls to play with on the front deck though) The views at sunset are incredible.

Owner's Response: It was great to have your family here. I am glad to see that Victor left some fish in the lake for other guests to catch. Hope to see you again soon. Ray and Ray

We needed this trip!

  • 4 of 5

It wasn’t until we were leaving to return home that I realized my 13 year old son was right, “We needed this trip”! 4 days and 3 nights went by in what felt like a day and a half. Our family of four and puppy had a great stay in cabin #2. The lodging was rustic and modern at the same time. Although the internet & TV were available, the TV never came on as we had so much more to do on our private beach and boat dock.

My son caught the first fish of the week, a 2 pound bass right off the dock within the first hour of fishing. The secluded cove provided a peaceful fishing spot where you’ll see many fish jumping out of the water to taunt you. After renting a ski boat we were able to pull up to our private dock for lunch before heading out for water skiing. That was very cool.

The service provided left us with nothing to ask for. The entire team from the owner Ron, Ray and Susan to Cinnamon all went the extra mile to be helpful, warm and accommodating.

My family will keep your team in our prayers through the fire season and we look forward to returning next year!

Excellent location; perfect gateway; picturesque lake view; hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

During our two day visit to Clearlake, our young family of three, we stayed at the rustic cabin with lake front view and steps away from the lake shore. Ron along with Susan and Ray were very accommodating, helpful, and most hospitable. The cabin has a rustic feel with the 1930s structure. The place was fully functional, clean equipped with all the essentials including cutlery, linens, furniture, murphy beds. Susan and Ray were available either over the phone or in person at a moment's notice if we had any questions or needed some help. The property had a play structure downstairs where our three year old enjoyed playing. The garden area is well kept. All of us enjoyed going paddling in the lake. The water was refreshing and clean for a quick dip. The lake being so close was wonderful. The dock was great to just sit and view the lake and Mount Konocti. The place has high-speed wifi, BBQ with each cabin & is a gated property. The cabin is has trees and nature around so some bugs etc are expected, but indoors it is fairly bug free
