DON'T RENT THRU A REALTY AGENCY !
I would like to provide feedback on our experience with renting of this property.
We communicated not directly with the owner but with a realty agency .
We signed a detailed 32 clause contract and prepaid the rent , a substantial security deposit and a non-refundable cleaning fee.
When we arrived late at night after a tiring 6hour flight the air conditioning system did not work and we had to endure a noisy sleepless night because of having to keep the windows open for proper air circulation which is essential to us for personal health reasons.
We were also surprised to learn of a supplementary fee for pool and BBQ access!
In our travels we have never encountered such an additional fee and the VRBO ad (#7105902ha) mentions ‘outdoor pool & spa’ and ‘two beach front clubhouses’ as amenities
In the contract,a clause stated that ‘‘the tenant was responsible for obtaining Guest passes’’. We understood the ‘guest passes’ covered persons who would visit us (our guests) and ‘obtain’ did not mean ‘buy’ for us . Why submit us to a four page detailed contract of conditions and not mention clearly this fact? The payment clause could have included this access fee! When we discussed the nominal additional fee the realty property company dismissed our reasons and simply refused to include it.
The fee was small but as a matter of principle , we do not appreciate being exploited and nickel and dimed for every additional service especially when it is not mentioned beforehand!
Furthermore the apartment was not in proper condition since we photographed at least two areas that had not been cleaned properly!
Evidently the property manager had neglected to properly prepare and inspect the air conditioning and the cleaning in the unit before we arrived !
Later we found that the internet WI-FI service in the apartment did not provide fast enough service for streaming movies and requested to make arrangements to improve and update the Internet service during our stay so that we could enjoy watching movies. Our request was denied.
The apartment was very confortable and the support staff in the building were very accommodating but for all the above reasons, the property management left us very unsatisfied and simply exploited . For the benefit of future travellers ,I would not recommending renting a vacation home through a realty agency such as this one
