So relaxing. It accommodates perfectly for a big family. It gives everyone the space they needed.
the sunset was mesmerizing. The water was so clear and beautiful. It was interesting to see a lake that was red. (Black in the deepest ends, hence the name) Great for fishing, kayaking, and when weather allowed, a fun time swimming. Loved how clean the house/area in general was.
The owners were so friendly and came by within minutes when we needed them.
Would definitely rent again with my family. There are not many homes that offer that kind of privacy for such a big group.
The stay at the motel strip was wonderful. The owners Jerry and Kathy went above and beyond on making sure are stay was a stay to remember. We hit two births with one stone at this place with Mackinac island being just an hour away we got to see the famous island and bridge. Thank you Kathy and Jerry for having us at your place.
A very pretty setting on the lake! Peaceful and relaxing!
17 of us stayed for a family wedding in the area, we had everything we needed, lots of room to gather in the family room and kitchen yet, everyone had the privacy of their own rooms. The owners were extremely accommodating and quick to respond to questions and needs. We are already planning our next visit there!
wonderful stay...beautiful lake and beach area. Private rooms were neat
Wonderful place to stay. The private "motel" rooms were really cool and cozy. Beach and lake absolutely grand. We really like the refurbished and restored look and feel/
Our family of 16 had a great vacation at Black Lake. The room setup worked perfectly for each of our families and our young children. The beach and lake are breathtaking, and the owners are very accommodating.
Great for a family
The property was ideal for a large family group such as ours, giving us a common area as well as private rooms. It was spotless and for the most part well-maintained. Great sandy beach, shallow at least 300 yards out so don’t plan on swimming, but ideal for kids or adults to wade and sit in the water. Great for jet skis and tubing! Two refrigerators in the House was great for our common meal storage. And the laundry facilities were SO welcomed, thank you! It would have been nice to have a tv in the master bedroom, as family members often stayed up late in the living room but we (the oldsters) wanted to go to bed and watch a bit of tv as we did. The kitchen was well-stocked with every type of pot or pan you would need, including a crockpot. My only suggestion would be plastic water tumblers rather than glass, as folks wanted to take drinks down to the patio but we were afraid of breakage, so we used styrofoam, creating more garbage! The bed in the master BR was so comfy — great mattress! This spot made a great “home base” for a couple of day trips by our families to Mackinac Island, across the bridge to the Mystery Spot (a favorite childhood memory for my son that he wanted to share with his kids!), zip lining, Ocqueoc Falls, Cheboygan, and Rogers City. The owners seem like nice folks and were helpful with our needs.
