Enjoyed our stay

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was cute, with an updated bathroom and very well equipped. It had paper goods towels, and linens, which is unusual and was appreciated. Kim was very helpful and friendly. Carp Lake is beautiful and the kayaks provided were better than the ones we brought so we didn't have to bother with ours.

The only downside was that the bedrooms had no ceilings, like some vintage cottages, so there was light and noise from the common space and other bedrooms. That didn't work so well when one of us tried to go to bed earlier than the other, or someone got up earlier in the morning.

Small, very clean cabin on an absolutely gorgeous quiet lake!

  • 5 of 5

Overall, the cabin was wonderful! It is very clean and well cared for. There were 5 of us and we all slept wonderfully. It is small, but that just encouraged us to take full advantage of the outdoors. The biggest surprise was how quiet the lake was even on the 4th of July. There were never a lot of boats on the lake. There were kayaks and a pedal boat available for us to use and we were able to keep our boat on the dock outside the cabin. It is a short 10-15 minute drive from all of the touristy stuff of Mackinac City. It is definitely called Paradise Lake for a reason. Oh, and how could I forget how great the lake was for fishing. Kim was very helpful in giving us tips on where to fish.

Great cottage getaway

  • 5 of 5

First off, Kim is a fantastic host. She happily greeted us upon arriving and answered any and all questioned we had right off the bat. The interior of the cottage is the perfect size for a small group, with comfortable sleeping for 4 people. The kitchen was equipped with the essentials that we needed, we only had to supplement it with a few of our own items.

The location is the biggest draw here. About 5 miles away from Mackinaw City, it is secluded and far away from any touristy areas. The house is on a private drive so there is rarely any traffic noise. The lake is wonderful (although it had a bit of a fishy smell to it at the time), the property included its own dock with a paddleboat and two kayaks to use. We didn't have to bother the host/hostess at all, we could just take them and use them whenever we wanted. We made good use of the firepit while we were there and it was cool seeing all the fires scattered around the lake.

Great time

  • 5 of 5

We just got back today! Kim and Jim were GREAT to deal with, the Cabin was just as pictured, loved being that close to mackinaw city! We will be renting it again next season. Thanks Jim and Kim for a great time! A+++ Listing Totally recommend! Jim made personally sure we were having a good time. Cottage was clean and they put a lot of thought into the people they lodge. I even caught some fish!

Cozy and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Our group stayed here for 2 nights while we were in the area for a wedding. The cottage was cozy and clean, and the lake was lovely. Everything wass well cared for and exactly as advertised, and the shower was great. The owner was on site and available throughout our stay, and she was gracious and accommodating. Great location -- you can be in Mackinaw City with a quick drive. We all wished we were able to stay longer.
