Beautiful place to relax!
We enjoyed our stay here it had everything we needed. There is no ac so bring a fan to help stay cool. The house was very clean and accommodated a large group of us. The lake was beautiful and very quiet. We enjoyed relaxing in by the lake in the afternoon. Close drive to downtown traverse city and to many wineries.
This was a great get away for our extended family.
Home was clean and well furnished. The owner was easy to work with and responded quickly. We had a great time and wanted to extend one extra day and were able to do that with no problem. We would definitely consider a return visit.
Cottage on the Lake
Loved the house and Lake Ann. We went on a very hot weekend but the lake breeze kept everything cool and fresh (there is no air conditioning). We used the kayaks and swam everyday and it was refreshing. It is a cottage house so there are a few things that aren't perfect like the windows were hard to open and close and the grill was a bit greasy but we grew up on a lake so it was as expected for us. Hope we can return again - it is halfway to Traverse City and Glen Arbor.
We had a long weekend here while the lake was still frozen over. We got to see plenty of deer walking out on the lake!! There are three main bedrooms (plus a room with a pull-out couch), and all but one have multiple beds. It would be great for an extended family. As it was, we had 2 couples and another person stay here and were quite comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed and made it easy for us to cook our meals. The main kitchen table is designed for 4, so no huge family dinners would happen here inside, but that was not a problem for us. We were also 25-ish minutes away from Traverse City, which made for a nice day trip.
Make sure to read all instructions in the contract when you receive it, as hand towels are provided and bath/beach towels are not. One could easily overlook that!
All in all, a pleasant place and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back!
Nice Location, would not return to rent this again
House is very crowded. Bedrooms have so many beds crammed in that there is less than 12" to walk between beds. To much furniture in living areas to move around. Owner was very demanding about a lot of picky things required lwhen we left, way beyond the usual..we spent hours cleaning, but this wasn't up to her standards and she didn't return our security deposit, the first time in 30 years that we have had this problem. Rented the boat, but the difficulty required to use their not so great vacumns to try to clean it at the end...about an hour process diminished the overall fun of the vacation.
Surroundings: Lake Ann is well known for it's beautiful water and surroundings. It is centrally located between Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City, Interlochen, Leelenau (wine country), and the best beaches that lake MI has to offer. All are within 20 minutes of our home. Crystal Mountain resort and Spa is nearby and offers great Summer and Winter activities as well as a couple excellent restaurants. The Platte River runs out of Lake Ann and can be accessed nearby for fun family floats out to the beautiful Platte Bay of Lake MI.
Town: Lake Ann is a quiet and quaint lake town and our home is walking distance to the general store and local parks.
Fishing: Lake Ann offers a variety of fish (large mouth bass, rock bass, pike, blue gill, perch, and even an occasional brown trout that can be caught right off the dock or around the lake. Lake Ann is the headwaters of the famous Platte river. Many local rivers and lakes offer some of the best fishing in MI. (My husband would be happy to help with any fishing tips and recommendations and if available would even offer to help guide a fishing trip for a nominal fee).
Golf: Several great golf courses nearby including Mistwood.
