About Daniel Jones

Gertrude Rentals was named for the owner-operator’s (Daniel) grandmother. Gertrude Van-Lopik was an adventurous traveler well into her 90s who circumnavigating the globe more than two dozen times. Gertrude Rentals is a multi-generational, family business and includes a wife, a husband, a daughter, and a lifetime friend. With 48 beds we are also the largest owner operator of premier vacation rentals on Siesta Key and have more than 100 positive reviews “and growing” (we are very proud of them).

Daniel Jones is the head honcho of Siesta Key and the owner-operator of Gertrude Rentals, his third of four children. Dan was born in Sarasota and lived on Siesta Key for 25 years before leaving to work in New York City. In 2010 Dan came to his senses and abandoned a career in finance to spend more time with his friends and family and, ultimately, to pursue this labor of love. He is passionate about providing affordable beach-luxury during what he calls “sacred vacation time”. He loves surfing, interior design, and seafood. Dan's departure from Wall Street and return to the beaches of Siesta Key represents the hallmark spirit of Gertrude Rentals - no collars, no shoes, no problems!

Fantastic 2017 Spring Break at Palm Island House

We just returned from a wonderful vacation on Siesta Key. We stayed in the Palm Island House with another family which totaled 4 adults and 4 teenagers. (We could have added another family with the room we had). This was a fantastic property and the location couldn't be beat! We were steps away from Beach Access #10 and steps away from the Village. There was plenty of room to spread out and the kitchen had everything you need to prepare any and all meals. Thanks Gertrude Rentals for the hospitality!

Paradise!

We just got back from our stay, and we were VERY happy with the home! We had 3 couples and 4 teenagers staying, and the accommodations were more than adequate. The walking distance to both the beach and the village were very pleasant and doable. The house itself is gorgeous with a well appointed kitchen. The courtyard is a little slice of paradise! We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of beach chairs, toys, etc. that were available for us to use. The King bed in the bedroom without the bath attached was so comfortable! Of course we didn't want to leave and would go back in a heartbeat! Daniel was so patient with all of the questions that I had before our arrival, and he was very helpful. I would definitely recommend this property!
