Brought to you by Gertrude Rentals! It was named for my father who was a ships captain and sailed the world for 30 years but always insisted Siesta Keys beaches were most beautiful. Tastefully decorated with vaulted ceilings, multi-colored balusters and Indo-Spanish charm. Perfectly appointed with high thread-count 100% cotton sheets and W-Hotel pillow-top mattresses. Casa Van Lopik is the ideal blend of island ease and comforting luxury. Leave the car behind. After the beach, you could wander to town for fresh oysters and seafood, drinks, live music or ice cream. You can also get fresh fish at the Village Market one block away or catch your own right in front of the house. The kitchen is fully equipped and has an open floor plan from dining area to balcony. The back garden has communal space for casual dining and is westerly facing for sunset. Located at: 360 Canal Rd. Siesta Key.

About Daniel Jones

Gertrude Rentals was named for the owner-operator’s (Daniel) grandmother. Gertrude Van-Lopik was an adventurous traveler well into her 90s who circumnavigating the globe more than two dozen times. Gertrude Rentals is a multi-generational, family business and includes a wife, a husband, a daughter, and a lifetime friend. Close to the beach and shops. Beach umbrella broken, toilet handle broken, sliding doors to porch hard to open, needs updating

Owner's Response: Im sorry this this guest had issues with a few things, but with they would have just called to let us know something was wrong. We would have replaced the toilet handle and adjusted the sliders in just minutes. Regarding the beach umbrella issue….we provide beach chairs but dont provide umbrellas:)

Cozy & Convenient

Cute home with all the needs for a comfortable vacation. Very close to the beach and village - great food options and well-stocked grocery just a couple blocks away. Daniel was responsive, informative, and friendly. When contacted about a plumbing issue at the house, he responded quickly and sent assistance. He was also very flexible about allowing us to park longer on check out day while we grabbed a quick meal before departure. The beach gear is plenty (but a little dilapidated) - chairs, boogie boards, towels, etc.

The house is in a great location.

Overall, we had enjoyable week at the house. The property owner was very responsive and gave us some great information. However, prior to booking, I didn't realize this was a duplex type house and that the patio in the back was shared. Because this was a family vacation with our kids, if I had I probably would not have booked this home. When we first arrived, we couldn't access our parking area and had to wait several hours for the people in the other side of the house to arrive from the beach to move their cars which made unloading quite a pain but wasn't a huge deal. The people in the other side of the home were a group of young men (very polite) but who were understandably enjoying their July 4th weekend and had a keg in the patio area and were celebrating accordingly which is not exactly the atmosphere you want for your kids so we weren't able to enjoy that area. I think the listing needs to be changed a little to make it clear that it is a duplex and the patio (backyard area) is a shared area for this reason.

Owner's Response: I’m glad this guest enjoyed their stay, but am sorry this guest didn’t realize there are two units on this property. We are careful to mention the patio is shared in the listing description and do have each of the patio photos labeled as being “shared”. This property is just 1.5 blocks from the best beach in the country. Its right where everyone wants to live and there are exclusively multi-unit properties and hotels in all of Siesta Keys better locations. Free standing single family houses are more common at the lesser gulf beaches. We keep all the communal areas beautiful, have a strict 9:30pm curfew, and don’t allow parties at any location unless the group in question has rented the every unit in the location.

Great house

9 of us fit perfectly in the house with 3 being kids 13, 9 & 7. We all loved the house everything was clean and nice. Quick walk to the beach and the vlg. Would recommend this house to anyone that asked.
