Unbelievable winter sunsets!

  • 5 of 5

We stopped by the seafood market to pick up some Oysters & shrimp as we were arriving on Folly beach to enjoy our favorite vacation beach house for a weekend get away. With the Folly River out back and the Atlantic ocean out front, this home has almost 360 degree views of the ocean and the marsh with fantastic sunrises and sunsets... especially from the upstairs master bedroom. The only interruption in the view is the artwork, decor and photos.

The well appointed kitchen made it easy to cook up a romantic meal or just roast some oysters to eat on the back porch at sunset.

We will return several times this year. Thanks for the nice place to relax!

Happy Christmas stay on Folly!

  • 5 of 5

The property was just as presented....personal, warm and very comfortable for our Charleston Christmas vacation. The views are magnificent of the ocean and marsh. Our family of 5 people and two dogs had a great time. The owner was very helpful. When he met us on arrival, he had already decorated the inside of the house with Christmas lights. The home is a perfect place from which to explore the beach and nearby Charleston! The Cole family

Owner's Response: This home was my personal residence for 20 years. It is not like a sterile rental house......It's home. All of my guests are happy with the great views of the ocean, and the marsh. They also appreciate the vast collection of ecclectect art work on the walls. It's a wonderful spot!

A magical beach house!

  • 5 of 5

We've been vacationing at Folly Beach for years and this is the best house on the island by far. Incredible water views from every spot in the house. The porches are the best, we spent most of our time on either the front porch with unobstructed views of the ocean or the back porch watching the birds and spectacular sunsets over the marsh. I can't say enough about how magical this house is. It was absolutely the perfect vacation for my family and we plan on returning for many years to come.

Greatly Offended

  • 1 of 5

For anyone reading the previous review I can assure you there was no house party that occurred during our stay. I can also say that I greatly resent his slanderous comments saying that my family was raised and a barn and being called drunks. The mountain of garbage that the owner refers to was there when we arrived. We offered to take the trash to the street for recycling but the owner assured us that someone would be there to remove it. Additionally, the lamp shape that the owner stated was broken was broken when we arrived. I can assure the reader I was not raised in a barn as the owner asserts. I was raised in a good Military Christian family where cleanliness was next to godliness. After we arrived at the house we went to store and bought bleach to clean the kitchen and bathrooms. When we departed we cleaned the entire house. We swept the floors, cleaned the kitchen and whipped down the bathrooms. I also found some of the art work to be potentially offensive to families with small children. Some of the art was from alternative lifestyle events. One picture was of a man in a thong.

Our evenings were spent talking on the deck or playing cards at the table. Our group consisted of myself, my husband and our children. One of the reasons for visiting Folly Beach was to spend time as a family with our son that was deploying to the Middle East with the Navy. We wanted to spend one week together since he would be deployed for the next 9 months. We would miss Thanksgiving and Christmas with him so we wanted to spend the week together as a family before he left.

So if feel like spending part of your vacation cleaning and then being called names and insulted this is he house for you.

I would look elsewhere for a rental!

  • 2 of 5

The house was nice but I would look elsewhere on Folly Beach for a vacation rental. I have rented many different houses and condos using VRBO and HomeAway and this was by far the worst I rented. When my wife and I arrived at the home we were greeted by the owner. He showed us the house rules posted on the refrigerator and told us that someone would be there later in the week to pick up the recycling on the porch (which did not happen) and to fix a broken faucet in the master bath(which also did not happen). As he left he told us to be sure not break any windows. Mind you it is just my wife and I and we are both 50+. I will agree with the other reviews that the view is very nice. The front porch has a view of the ocean and the back porch has a view of the marsh. The beach was just a short walk across East Ashley Avenue. We did notice some kind of foul smell in the air, usually first thing in the mornings at low tide. We assumed it was from the marsh. In the evenings the tide would come in the smell would disappear but so would the beach. There is a house on the beach right across the street. Every evening the waves would come right up to their deck. This made walking on the beach in the evening impossible. We would drive further down East Ashley Ave and walk on the beach there where the tide was not a problem.Overall we thought that the owner put very little effort into making the house welcoming to the renters. We felt the property looked more like the owner had lived there for many years and did very little to update it for renters. The house was far from clean when we arrived. The kitchen utensils were greasy and dirty. The furniture was dated, there was a broken lamp shade in the living room, the master bedframe was broken, the porch steps were old and splintered, and the sheets / towels / bed spreads were stained. The kitchen could also be much better equipped for a family to cook in for a week. Finally there was black mold in the master bath in the tub and on the shower curtain. The house is pet friendly however the area for dogs is under the house. Under the house we found broken glass and beer caps in the sand and old splintered plywood where the dogs could easily be injured. In the front of the house there is a big bush. Every time we walked out to the beach a rat would run in to the bush. I did some research and Folly Beach has a problem with Norway rats and professional removal is recommended. Additionally, I a

Owner's Response: This was the worst renter that I have ever had. They had a house party...they left a mountain of garbage on the back porch. Most of it was empty containers of alcoholic beverages. It wasn't only he and his wife. There looked like about four other 30 something's. They destroyed a lamp shade. The house, including the freezer was full of sand. They obviously had been raised in a barn. I have never kept any part of a deposit, but I kept $200.00 of his, and told him that he could never return to my house. And that is why he has written these derogatory lies about my house. And further more, I built this house in 1996, and it's been my personal home. I started renting it about 3 years ago. It has many pieces of furniture that are family heirlooms, and are very fine. This is not your sterile rental house. It is a very comfortable house. There are views from every part of the house. Original art works cover all of the walls. There are house plants that are very old. Some are over 40 years old. This is a fine place to relax. It rents to families. I do not permit any events, weddings, house parties, etc. I think that the person that wrote this very unfair review, judging from the amount of empty beer cans, wine bottles, and liquor bottles, he was probably drunk, and decided, after I told him that he would never be able to come back to the house again, and kept a small part of his deposit to clean up the mess that he and his house party made of the house, and 3 months later he decided to write this review.
