What a Find!!!

  • 5 of 5

My family was looking for a last-minute place to stay at the Carolina Coast for the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. Having a dog always limits us.. and given we were booking late... I was nervous to get the VRBO search results. Sea la Vie was available and was PERFECT! It is a beautifully remodeled house with a great yard for a pet and a very short walk to the beach! The house is very clean and the location is great. Just a 30-minute drive to Wilmington, and a very short drive to Ft. Fisher and the Ferry to go over to Southport (which gives you lots of options if you are looking for things other to do than go to Kure Beach). The home appliances for Sea la Vie are outstanding for the rental price point. I did read the reviews before our departure and brought extra plates and silverware but as indicated, the owner had stocked more of both after a renter mentioned there was a shortage. The only tip I would give to renters is that if you are a coffee drinker, be sure to unplug the coffee maker when finished as I don't believe the coffee machine has an automatic shut-off. If you have any questions be sure to email the owners. They are very quick to respond and are extremely friendly. We will definitely be back to stay at Sea la Vie again.

Nicely decorated home; peaceful location. Very close walk to the beach. My husband and I stayed here with another couple and our two dogs. Nice washer and dryer. Updated, attractive bathrooms with modern touches. Love the bunk bed room!

Best beach house we've ever rented!

  • 5 of 5

We love this beach house!

It was close to the beach - two short small blocks (and there is parking at beach access if you need to drive). The streets were very quiet and easy to walk on.

The house has been greatly renovated which is very nice. Great kitchen, with new appliances! Double oven was great for us. Plenty of room to store food in kitchen.

A full size washer and dryer were a great surprise and very helpful to us with 3 kids.

Has a small grass backyard. Outdoor hose and outdoor shower head (not enclosed) was very nice to rinse off.

Furniture is very nice and comfortable. The house is wonderfully painted and decorated (hardwood floors, not tons of knick knacks so felt very calm and clean). Bathrooms have open vanities which is great at beach (not musty smelling like closed vanities so I wanted to store stuff there).

We've stayed at a lot of beach houses in NC, and have to say this is the best one we've ever rented! We also really enjoyed Kure Beach and will be back for sure (is it always this quiet and not crowded during the week??!!). Next time we'll bring our bikes to ride too, as the side streets were very nice, level and not tons of cars, perfect for the kids to ride. We did bring our little dog and he liked the house too!

Had a small issue with one bedroom and contacted the owner, who was very responsive and easy to work with (all worked out fine). Great house for our family of 2 adults, 3 kids (ages 11, 8, 8) and a small dog. Plenty of room!

The close proximity to the beach make this house a must for those with kids. Very close to the beach. We could walk there in under 2mins and we had all 3 kids in tow. The clean and modern kitchen make cooking at home a breeze for those sticking to a vacation budget. We will definately be staying here again on our next trip to Kure Beach!

Enjoyed Our Stay

  • 4 of 5

We had rented a cottage a few times from another owner with a house just up the street from this one so we knew the location was really good. The other place wasn't available when we needed it so the search was on! I was a little concerned because I hadn't allowed much time to look for a place. But our daughter and I found this one and we went ahead to book it. The owner was very responsive to my emails. The house is very nicely decorated and spacious. We enjoyed the LG appliances - the cooktop is helping me decide on a new stove for at home! There could be a few more dishes such as small plates, coffee mugs, and serving utensils, as I found myself washing by hand a little more than I had wanted to. There were only 3 of us there so a bigger group would have had to use paper plates. Had it been summer we could have used the grill and probably would have used paper plates at least for lunch and dinner. Not a big deal but it would have been nice to have a bigger supply of dishware. The house was very clean and linens were supplied by a company. This was very helpful since I didn't have to pack as much to bring with us. Left a note for the linen company because we didn't need all of the sheets that were provided. We used the two queen beds but not the twin bunk beds. Hated for them to waste water by washing clean linens again so hopefully they saw my note. The instructions for what to do with the dirty linens on the website don't totally agree with instructions left by the linen supplier with the bags of sheets and towels so that should be clarified. As the previous reviewer mentioned, the house has been updated nicely, but it hasn't taken away the charm of what was there originally. Initially, we couldn't get the cable TV up and running and contacted the owner, who was very responsive. In the meantime, my husband and daughter figured it out and all was fine. Our daughter needed to veg a little with the TV since she had had a busy schedule at UNCW and this stay at the beach house was a welcome break for her. She so enjoyed having our dog there and he adapted very quickly. We had lots of great walks and took him with us almost everywhere we went so that was a plus! This location is great! Would recommend to others and we'd come back. We like the Veggie Wagon, Jack Mackerel's, and the breakfast places all within a short driving distance.

Activity and Interests

Exploring Kure Beach and surrounding areas is a great way to reconnect with what really matters. Walk the trail at the Civil War fort. Drop by the NC aquarium's Adventure Reef, a new outdoor play area opening June 11 or visit marine life including alligators, snakes, sharks, stingrays, moray eels, seahorses, sea turtles, and more.

Tee off on one of the 60 beautiful golf courses that earned the region the #8 spot on "Golf Digest's Best Little Golf Town in America" list. Hop a ferry for a scenic trip to the Southport or grab your lucky fishing pole and head to the 712-foot Kure Beach Fishing Pier. See the town from a breathtaking perspective, strap yourself into a parasail and soar high above the coastline. Dine on delicious seafood at one of our family-owned restaurants. From sand castles to surfing to shopping, Kure Beach has plenty of things to do on land, sea, and air.
