Quiet and private, this condo has an exceptional combination of ocean view, Hawaiian furniture, and accessible location. Keauhou Akahi is a small, well tended complex located on Alii Drive. A 5 min. drive from Kahaluu Beach, Magic Sands Beach, and Kailua-Kona Village. Lush, mature tropical plants landscape the complex. Guestbook comments from the owner

" Thanks for making our stay on the Big Island so wonderful! The breezes throughout the day really kept the condo cool. We just kept the ceiling fan on and locked the screen door. At night, we noticed the lovely smell of tropical flowers wafting through the living room. We feel at home every time we stay at your condo and had everything we needed and more. Kona coffee is the best, so it was a nice touch to have the electric coffee grinder! My husband and I will be coming back soon!"

This lovely condo was perfect! We truly enjoyed all the amenities offered; it was beautifully decorated yet so comfortable. Our time relaxing on the lanai was the best. Very good location--close to shopping and dining. We would certainly return for vacation again and we have recommended this property to friends. We can't say enough!

Beautiful Sunsets

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

I researched this condo for a year and a half prior to booking our reservation, but I missed one very important thing. The pictures depicted are exactly the way the condo looks and feels. We enjoyed a beautiful sunrise and sunset each day. The condo is stocked with all of the necessary items to make an enjoyable stay. The ONLY reason that this condo did not receive 5 stars, is the fact that there was no A/C. This past September (2016) was very hot according to the Kona locals (warmer than usual). The condo was equipped with multiple fans, but blowing hot air around didn't cut it. If there was at least a room air conditioner, this condo would have received 5 stars. My wife and I have previously stayed on all four major Hawaiian Islands and all have been equipped with A/C. Since we also own a home in Phoenix we are used to the heat, but it was somewhat uncomfortable in the afternoons and at night while trying to sleep Besides the lack of A/C, the condo was great and in a great location. Kona-Kailua was very close, and there are a lot of amenities close by. The Sheraton Hotel which is located right around the corner offered dining and nightly entertainment options.

Owner's Response: We thank this guest for the lovely review. September is usually the warmest month on the Big Island. Most of the time, cross ventilation and the fans do the trick. In fact, during some months, guests have reported needing to use extra bedding, because of nippy nights, however, this past September apparently was even warmer than usual.

When we arrived at the condo, we had a beautiful poinsettia on the lanai table welcoming us. After adding a little Christmas tree, we felt right at home for the holidays in this lovely decorated condo that lacked nothing for our needs. The location was perfect for our December visit with our relatives who live in the Captain Cook area, as we were able to take the lower road directly from the condo making the trip up the hill very fast and easy. Having KTA Grocery store, restaurants, and movie theater just above us also made it very convenient whether walking or driving. Loved the sunsets and ocean view over the golf course on the lanai...even to spotting a whale, and the convenience of calling the property management if ever needing anything....they made it very easy for us when the barbecue ran out of gas. Can't say enough about the beauty of the grounds and friendly people in this small complex. We loved our month-long stay here and would definitely recommend this condo for your home away from home stay here in Kona.

perfect vacation rental!

  • 5 of 5

This place is clearly set up for people to enjoy their vacations. You can feel the love in this apartment! Yes, some of the decor is kitsch Hawaiian but that is actually the charm! The couches are really comfortable, the apartment is very spacious, and the geckos are beyond cute. The kitchen has everything you'd ever need and ample flatware etc. The views are great. The pool is small but so very nice (The lounge chairs and ambiance are great). There are are few flights to climb to reach this unit but we had no problem. There is amble parking outside. Even though we could hear our neighbours TVs or music or their happy hour socializing when we walked up our stars we couldn't hear anything or anyone from our apartment or even out on the lanai. The neighours were all very friendly. This place is spacious and lovely. The lanai is huge. They have a cooler and beach chairs and toys for you to use. We loved having two bathrooms and the bed was big and comfy. The airflow through the apartment was glorious. We loved the location because it was far away from the hustle and bustle of Kona and the main Ali'i Drive strip. Also we walked each evening down to Keahou Bay to watch the boats and took two trips with Eka Canoe Adventures (sunset sail and manta ray snorkel on traditional Hawaiian sailing canoe). AWESOME!

They were doing some work on the golf course but we didn't even care about the noise. We were so happy to be in this unit. If we come back to the Big Island we'll stay here again! The unit has a barbeque and is directly on the golf course with a sweeping view of the ocean!

When we couldn't figure out how to open the washing machine (it pauses in lock when done a cycle; be patient!) we called the property managers who were extremely helpful!

The location was great for visiting Captain Cook (we hiked in for free!) and all the coffee plantations. We never made it up to the Shereton to watch the mantas; we went in the water and swam with them instead! Don't go out with a big outfitter; take Eka Canoes; they donate time and money to spreading indigenous knowledge and teaching kids to canoe sail!! What wonderful people. You can rent boats and kayaks in the bay.

Owner's Response: We are so happy every time we hear from our guests that they enjoyed the condo! We agree about the abundance of flowers and birds. Light, ocean breezes often carry in the perfume of tropical flowers.
