Rustic and simple with good location
The scenery and location of this property is what makes this entire experience - having your own secluded lake, and no neighbors is a bonus. Being able to bring our dog was a great aspect, too. You are a big away from the ADK top sights/attractions, but it's only about 40 minutes to Lake Placid, etc. There is noise from the highway 87 - you can see the large tractor-trailer trucks passing through the trees across the lake, and it does take away from the wilderness/rustic experience. The biggest downside to our stay was the cleanliness of the home - it was very dirty and felt that it had not been cleaned in ages. I had to scrub the sink, bathroom, kitchen, etc. before we felt comfortable prepping food or showering. The towels are tattered and the "linen closet" is a pile of unfolded very worn textiles combined with a few bags, cleaning products, etc. There were clothes shoved in the bottom of the closets, dog poop in the yard, expired food in the cabinets. When I swept the floors it was clear they had not been cleaned in a very long time. This was a big disappointment.
We want to thank Ms. Kathryn Lalley for renting the cottage.
Regarding the comments -
1. We are also unhappy regarding the dog poop. The house rules for this cottage require that pet owners do not leave their pets unleashed and clean the yard of any pet litter. It seemed an earlier renter did not follow the rules. House cleaning person may also have missed out.
2. We do not provide any food item for the consumption of the renters. They are required to buy their own food items and discard unused items when they leave.
3. We have a house cleaning person who cleans the place every time it is rented out. We are renting the cottage for more than 10 years and we get repeat renters regularly.
We can understand that for some renters our cottage may not meet their expectations.
Beautiful cabin on private lake!
Just awesome!! The lake is beautiful!!!
We are glad that you liked our private camp. Thanks.
Repeat visitor, I can't get enough!
PRIVATE is the first bonus. No one around to say "keep it down over there". The cabin is beautiful and the fishing is fantastic.....That is if you figure out the right bait ;-). We saw deer, turtles, black bear, big bass and perch. No ducks for some strange reason, maybe the turtles eat them.My best friend who is still active duty Army stayed with us and had a smile 24/7. I loved every minute of my rental vacation.
Cabin week stay
Perfect week spent with a couple friends and our two dogs. Caught some fish and had a nice campfire. Pond was bigger then we hoped for so no need to leave the property. Cabin had everything we needed. Hope to come back next year
Reconnect with nature and your family
This location is absolutely perfect for a romantic or family getaway! The cabin is simplistically perfect and cozy. Suren has kindly provided chairs, a fire ring, a charcoal grill, for external comforts a shore. There is plenty of fire wood to be found on the ground. Please remember transportation of firewood can potentially transport invasive species so pick-up your firewood locally. Take a tour of the small lake in a row boat or canoe to find your perfect fishing place since both are available for your use. A TV and VCR are also on the premise if you need a family movie night. Awake each day and watch the sun rise and the fog lift off the small lake from the comfort of the front bedroom or the screened/glass enclosed porch. The perfect place to center with daily meditation. I wish I could post a picture because what we experienced was truly breathtaking. We caught a glimpse of a blue heron, kingfisher, a grouse, a big mouth bass that got away, and a small turkey family foraging for food. Since you are tucked and nestled in the hemlocks you barely here I-87 traffic pass. To us, it was just enough to validate the needed to escape and rejuvenate. My husband and I were both able to connect to the cell towers....(he has a Samsung and I an iPhone with Verizon) when we wanted to, but found much happiness when we turned our cell phones off. Suren thank you for providing us with the perfect place to remind us of the importance of staying connected with nature and each other. Sending happiness and peace, Namaste!
This property was extremely private and quiet and was exactly what we were looking for!
We absolutely loved this cottage. The lake is stunning and we loved the accessibility of the lake. Very private, quiet, clean and well maintained cottage. We can't wait to come again in the future!
