About Celesta Gingerich

We love the outdoors and traveling and have always dreamed of having a log cabin in the woods. Lee loves to hunt and Celesta loves gardening and flowers.

Celesta Gingerich purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Celesta Gingerich chose Marion Township

The rolling hills of Morgan County are so beautiful and we found this property that has a mixture of woods and pasture. It is away from so much of the commercialized vacation areas, and yet not too far to still enjoy some of the attractions that go with having a good time. The locals are friendly and we have enjoyed getting to know the neighbors and their cultures and life perspectives.

What makes this cabin unique

We love to stay at the cabin just to get away from the daily grind and then in hunting season, there are lots of deer to chase!

We are pet friendly. Please let us know you are bringing pets. There is a $40 charge per pet for the duration of the stay.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Love this place!! It's so peaceful and beautiful...perfect for some time away from the stress of life. The cozy log cabin has great atmosphere and amenities. We especially liked the roomy bathroom and comfortable family room furniture. There's lots of woods and meadows to roam. The creek is lovely and well worth the effort it takes to get there. The place is full of wildlife...deer...singing birds...soaring hawks...and lots of wildflowers for picking. The peach cobbler from the Amish farm is highly recommended!

Clean cute and roomy cabin

  • 5 of 5

All the amenities and tucked away, this was a great place to spend the weekend while seeing my daughter on stage at OU. It's about 25 miles NE of Athens. Amish country, beautiful sunsets. Can't wait to try the diner on the way out this am for breakfast. My greyhound absolutely loved the fenced in property so she could run off leash. And the price is perfect. Highly recommend and will be back

Perfect for our needs--fully equipped, spotless, ample space, great for walking and for dogs. Star gazing was phenomenal.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed our lovely cabin. The hills and valleys do create some interesting roadways, that's for sure! Oh, yes, it is so amazing to see the stars without all the big city lights around. Thanks for cleaning up so well and doing some of the laundry!

Secluded Cabin in S-E Ohio

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I booked this cabin for a brief retreat from the city to plan for our small business and relax and enjoy each others company. We found the perfect spot for both.

This cabin is located off SR337 in Morgan County. We were pleasantly impressed upon arriving that the property looked very new and was well maintained. The cabin itself was perfect. Four adults could easily stay there; but if was quite romantic for this couple. The kitchen was well appointed. The bathroom large and the bed was super comfortable. The entire place was spotless. We enjoyed cooking out and dining on the lovely porch overlooking the property. We did some sightseeing and visited McConnellsville for the Morgan County Heritage Days. We also would recommend the Triple Nickel Restaurant in town. Celesta and Lee were perfect hosts. We hope to return again next year.

Perfect little cottage in the country!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here! It was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. Out of the way of all the crowds closer to the Hocking Hills area but still within a close enough distance to visit the park and Athens. The place was immaculate and had everything we could need for our stay there. We hope to come back again!

Wonderful Stay in A Truly Clean & Enjoyable Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My wife, 11 year old grandson and I had a great time at this cabin. The description is very accurate re: location, layout, amenities, etc. The cabin is extremely clean and maintained as well furnished. Thorough customer service was constantly provided. The info book has lots of helpful data about places to go and things to do. The setting is quiet and peaceful. Our grandson and I hiked all the trails. We would recommend this property to family and friends. We enjoyed Burr Oak State Park as well as seeing many covered bridges in the area.

Top Thing to do in Budget:.....

Top Thing to do in Family:.....

32 acres of private property to hike. Wolf Creek runs along the west edge of the property. Lots of trees, birds, wild flowers, wildlife, and open pasture.

Groceries, pizza, subs, gas, etc. available in Chesterhill.

There is hiking on our property, which is 32 acres. We have trails through the woods and pastures, and a steep trail that goes down to Wolf Creek, which is our property line. Gifford State Park is only 7 miles south of our cabin, and has hiking trails. I was told there is a cave, but we have never gone there.

Numerous covered bridges cover southeastern Ohio. There is a map at the cabin with locations marked. One of them is about 2 miles from the cabin.

Wolf Creek Wildlife Area has several stocked fishing ponds, about 20 minutes from Antler Ridge. Locals tell us they have great bass and channel catfish.

Burr Oak State Park Lodge has lots of trails, and is 30 minutes away, with a scenic drive through the rolling hills to get there. There is Burr Oak Marina about 5 miles from the Burr Oak Lodge that rents pontoons, boats, canoes and kayaks.

We enjoy the quaint town of McConnelsville (20 minutes), with its 'small town' feel and lots of little shops to browse. Twin City Opera House has movies on weekends, and schedules concerts on the 3rd Sat. of each month.

Stockport Mill Inn and Restaurant (7 miles from Antler Ridge) is a restored mill right on the dam on Muskingum River. You can tour the 4 floors of charming rooms and sitting areas and the power turbine that used to grind the feed when the mill was in business. Unique, with great meals on weekends only.

The Wilds is about 40 minutes away, and very worthwhile, with wildlife tours, etc. They even have a Zipline now. You can Google many of these places before you decide.

Athens (30 minutes) is home to Ohio University, with lots of restaurants, parks, bike rentals, etc.

Marietta is about 40 minutes, right on the Ohio River.

Our cabin is not in the commercial area of Hocking Hills; we are about an hour from there. Our area is quiet, beautiful, and away from all the glamour. It is not for everyone, but we don’t know of any guests that have been disappointed.

Morgan County has a website with lots of info on things to do and see.
