A Little Bit of Paradise on the Maine Coast

Property Details

Updated: Oct 10, 2016
Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, 3-4 Sleeps

Welcome to Coveside Cottage, a little bit of paradise on the Maine coast. Offering incredible views of Bar Harbor, Mt. Desert Island and several other islands, Coveside Cottage is the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of the real world.

Wake to the sound of loons, lobster boats, bell buoys, and the gentle lapping of waves. Play some croquet on the spacious front lawn, relax on the front porch, or around the firepit at the water's edge.

History abounds on Ferry Rd. in Hancock - it was once a bustling hub for people going to and from Bar Harbor, with a railroad, a grand hotel, and ferry service to Bar Harbor.

Spectacular view, exceptional experience!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin, though very small, is awesome. Well equipped with everything you need, of course except your food. The view is phenomenal, spectacular, you never want to leave. Great location to go to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

Wonderful place. Great views. Comfortable and clean. Close to Acadia and Bar Harbor.

We spent 3 days at this cute cottage in mid September. What a great location. Super quiet and beautiful area. We had fog and clouds and drizzle 2 of the 3 days, so we did not get to see as much as we would have liked from the comfy porch chairs. On our last night the fog and clouds finally lifted. The Milky Way seemed to hang within reach over our heads. Wow. The kitchen is well equipped and the cottage clean and functional. We spent time at Acadia riding bikes on the carriage trails and enjoying sunset at Schoodic point. Lots to do within a 1/2 hour drive. Maine is beautiful and we will be back!

Just got back from four days at the cottage and can't believe the beautiful sunsets, views of Acadia/Bar Harbor, and peaceful moments spent on the front porch. Loved our visit!

Quiet, cozy cottage with spectacular views from front porch

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful four day stay with our 7 year old granddaughter. Good central location for going back and forth to MDI, Ellsworth and Schoodic Peninsula. Our favorite feature was the front porch with gorgeous view of the bay (starting right at the foot of the property) off to Cadillac Mountain and Bar Harbor. Happened to be there during a full moon, loved watching it rise each night. Cottage was clean, well-stocked, comfortable, with many nice homey touches, including a VCR with CDs, books, quilts, rocking chairs, two coffee makers, everything we needed after a long day of adventures nearby. Not huge -- would have been a tight squeeze for more than two adults and one child -- but perfect for our needs. Sue Rand was an attentive and helpful host to deal with. We loved it and have brought back many special memories!

The view!!! The location!!! Slice of Paradise for sure!

  • 5 of 5

The view from this property says it all. You wake up every morning and sit on the porch with your coffee looking out at Mount Desert Island (Acadia) while you listen to the gentle hum of lobster boats and sea birds. Absolutely gorgeous property. We also loved this place because you are away from the craziness of Bar Harbor/Acadia, but only a 40 minute drive away at the same time. Also, an easy drive to Schoodic, which was our favorite. GORGEOUS!! and huge decrease in the crowds of people that frequent Acadia in the summer. The owner is very quick to respond and very considerate. We were truly sad to leave this place. Would stay away from Ruth and Wimpy's....I think they have gotten too big for themselves (over 300 things on the can't do anything well). Pat's had great pizza and we loved the Flex It in Ellsworth. This was a fantastic rental. We would definitely go back!

Great Acadia Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was a little slice of heaven on Frenchman's Bay. We arrived in the evening as the sun was setting on the water and the views won us over before we even went inside. The cabin was cozy with all of the amenities you could want for a vacation, a full kitchen, soft fluffy towels and comfy beds. We enjoyed the Keurig and drank our coffee in the rocking chairs on the porch every morning.

Our little Jack Russell explored every crevice in the rocks on the shoreline. There was a quiet road in the neighborhood for walks and he especially enjoyed low tide on the sandy inlet just down the road.

The cabin location was close enough to be convenient (30 minute drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia) yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor to be peaceful and serene which also provided incredible views of Desert Island/Acadia across the Bay. Lobster pounds and grocery stores were not far away and several restaurants spotted the area. This was a wonderful anniversary celebration trip that we'll cherish.
