Guestbook comments from the manager

Our stay at Christine and Jim's mountain escape was wonderful beyond expectations. The amazing accommodations provided the exact retreat we were looking for, and provided some much needed R&R. Re: location, the cabin was tucked far enough into the mountains that we were able to enjoy incredible stargazing from the hot tub, but still close enough to spend a comfortable afternoon in Cashiers, Highlands and the excellent hiking opportunities throughout the area. Definitely recommend.

Romantic Getaway in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

Where to begin?!? We booked a last minute getaway for the four day weekend as a break from Fort Bragg. Christine was more than welcoming when we arrived at the "Cozy Cabin" with our dog. Everything was clean, quiet, and the perfect place to escape from the busy city. We absolutely LOVED having the windows open to hear the creek/mini waterfall right outside the bedroom! Christine baked us a homemade casserole (French Toast :) ) and left it on our doorstep the one morning. It was delicious! Christine and Cricket went above and beyond for our stay, making us feel as welcomed in a little B&B but in the privacy of our own cabin. For the area, we would definitely come back again to the small town and fell in love with the views of the mountains. We will DEFINITELY be returning to the area and staying at the Cozy Cabin again :)

Rustic & Cozy

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. The cabin is located in the hills near Lake Glenville. The cabin stocked with books, games and a fabulous rope swing. The cabin activites provided fun down time for our family between our hiking, white water rafting and boating excursions around the Cashiers area.

Owner's Response: Hosting the Snellings family was such a pleasure and they were adventurous, fun and took such good care of their cabin while there, although seldom spent time inside since enjoyed the 'outdoor adventures' in the area. They left all in great shape upon exit and any host would be glad to have such guests as them. All I know is 'they're welcome to mine anytime ready and able to return for good times at primes'! Thanks folks!!! Christine

Cozy cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the cozy cabin, which is conveniently located minutes from downtown Cashiers and the sawyer family farmstead. Christine was very nice and easy to work with. She even thoughtfully brought in a special lighted makeup mirror for me because she knew I would be doing my hair/makeup for a wedding. We highly recommend the Prime properties and would love to return for another stay!

Perfect romantic get away

  • 4 of 5

The description of the Cozy Cabin is a VERY accurate listing. It is a beautiful little cabin to get away from it all. We loved the idea of having a code to enter to premises instead of having to keep up with a key. It was very clean and well maintained.

There was a nice small water fall in the back with seating to watch the sun go down. We loved listening to the relaxing sound of water as we drifted off to sleep.

The morning views of the mountains and changing colors of the leaves were breath-taking.

The Primes were very friendly and asked how were the accommodations and if we needed anything. The cabin has an apartment size washer and dryer. It is also stocked with silverware, dishes, pots, pans & bathroom amenities such as toilet paper, towels and wash clothes. They even provide bar soap for your convenience.

We also utilized the den location, so the cabin comfortably will sleep four people. The couch in the living room may pull out to sleep another person or two, but we didn’t use it to sleep on. We didn’t use the hot tub either, so I can’t give a review of that.

The only 2 drawbacks that we have to comment on are: 1} in the den, there is no closet to hang clothes. We had to hang them over one of the beds, which was ok for us, since we slept in one bed. But, if you want to make use of both beds, it would be difficult to sleep with clothes hanging over your head. 2} The Wi-Fi wasn't that strong. We ended up disconnecting from it because we couldn't get internet pages to load. I'm not sure if it was due to rainy weather or if the internet service there is just slower than what we’re used to.

We would DEFINITELY recommend that friends and family to visit this location. In fact, we plan to go back for a little get away.

Owner's Response: We're always glad when guests enjoy their stay at this rustic' & romantic cabin, best suited for 2 adults, yet as advertised, can house "up to 3 guests" maximum, comfortably. Sometimes we allow up to 4 adults, but it may be a tight fit since there's just 1 small bathroom. An updated request for 2 additional adults required the small den for a 'somewhat newly-wed couple' who decided to come along with 'Mom and Dad'. And we welcome such yet warned, 'it's a very small den'! I'd like to address the closet issue noted. There IS a 4 foot closet in the small extra den, yet the trundle bed (pulled out from under the day -bed) for the added 2 x-tra adults, had to be placed in the closet area, thus I temporarily removed the bi-fold doors so head-end of bed fit nicely. I left the hanging clothes rod in place which allowed only about a foot of hanging space to the right side of bed, thus would not actually hang over your head (I'll post pics soon on this). But if not enough, there's also a hanging rod on the den door with plenty more hooks to hang clothes for short-term guests as the 4 nighter guests who noted 'the lack of closet space'. Also, the Master Bedroom area provides an armoire 'for hanging clothes as well as many other hooks throughout the cabin and at least 10 dresser drawers. Future inquiries, please know that the sofa in the living room is NOT a sleeper nor does it pull-out as it's simply 'a 5 foot sofa' yet comfy enough for a small person to sleep on, if need be. Spotty Wi-Fi can be a problem as it was recently on the end of the service provider 'Frontier' as many in the area likewise experienced do to weather issues, yet a direct connection to the Internet Router may help IF one has a laptop. We continue to do our best to accommodate folks who desire a romantic mountain stay and always look for ways to better such, providing a clean and comfy cabin as 'we aim to please'! Happy guests are the best so 'we thank all of you'! The Primes

Great getaway for couple!!

This place was so romantic and cozy. The whole house is so nice and unique. I loved the feeling of relaxing there on the swing, playing on the rope swing. We brought our husky and she loved it! The view was amazing and such a nice sound of nature. I will be back every year!! Owner was awesome and even made us breakfast!! Can't wait to visit again!

Our "Go To" Place

  • 4 of 5

We have stayed at all the rentals on Prime property over the years. While all are fabulous, the Cozy Cabin is now our favorite. We were celebrating our 25th Anniversary, and it was 2 fabulous weeks of absolute relaxation. Thanks to the Primes for our sunset cruise and yummy chicken tortillas, along with their care of us during our stay! This area has so many wonderful waterfalls and fun roads to drive, not to mention plenty of places to shop and eat. And how nice to be able to retreat to our rental where we enjoyed privacy and quiet surroundings. We always look forward to our yearly jaunt to NC.
