Fun location just a few steps from the ocean!

I couldn't have asked for a better location. It was so convenient having a parking space with the rental. We left our car parked the entire trip because everything was walking distance! The beach, shops, bars, restaurants, and amusement park were all literally just a few steps away.

The owner, Nadim, was extremely accommodating. He answered all of our questions and was easy to get ahold of. Also, the place was spotless and in beautiful condition!

I would absolutely recommend this place to friends and family and I hope to come back soon!

The things they don't show you

To start off, this unit has safety and security issues. The unit is on the second floor of a walk-up building. The front entrance is located on an alleyway. The outside door has a lock but it is never locked. Once you enter, the stairs have no lighting which provides an easy place for someone to hide, or for you to trip on something. The entire building is decrepit and dirty (see link to photos). The inside of the unit has a sliding door that opens to a "terrace" that is boarded off--a major safety hazard and likely not up to code. The unit is sloppily renovated. There are newer appliances and cabinets in the kitchen (enough to take a few decent photos and pass it off), but most of the unit looks like it's in decay.

The property is very poorly managed. The initial email said I would get an email on how to access the unit closer to the date of arrival. About a week before our arrival there was still no information. I emailed the person twice and got no response. I then called and texted the number listed on Homeaway. I got a cheery text response 3 minutes later saying she would email me all the info, which she did. Check-in wasn’t until 4pm. We arrived at 4:30pm and the cleaner was still in there. We leave and come back around 5:00 and she’s still there. She wasn’t done until around 5:30pm. Homeaway has a bad policy that you only get refunded the money if you leave within 12 hours of arrival. We got there at 4:30 pm so there wasn’t enough time to find another hotel that night. I braved that one night even though I couldn’t sleep well because I was too worried about security. We left first thing the next morning. We got a place right across from the beach in La Jolla that was beautiful and clean for less than the price we paid for this place. If they charged $100/night I might expect this. But I spent a lot more than that for a rundown place. When I texted the owner/manager about refunding my deposit, I was told that Homeaway automatically does it. I looked on the homeaway community forum and texted her a picture that stated the owner/manager has to initiate the refund. Only then did I get an email saying that my money had been refunded. Today I verified that it was refunded to my credit card. After all that, I had to chase them down for the refundable deposit too!

Absolutely PERFECT!!!!

Absolutely PERFECT!!!! Condo was clean, beds were great and location is perfect. Never had any problems and priced right. Owner, Nadium, communicated well and always responded if I had a question. Nadium was easy to work with and made sure everything was working well and made sure our stay was 5 STAR. Even had football, bikes and body boards for my kids to use so we didn't have to rent any. No need to look anywhere else. This is the place to be and the people you want to work with. When I come back to San Diego I will definitely stay here again. 5 star condo!!!!!!!
