Two bedroom, two bathroom townhouse located in the middle of Old Town Alexandria. Full kitchen with all your amenities included for cooking. Off street parking available as well if you are driving. An easy walk from the King Street metro if you are flying in and not renting a car. There is a great back porch with grill if you want to have a cook out. The bedrooms have sheets and pillows. The bathroom has all your towels for getting ready. Your perfect home away from home in DC.
I am an avid traveler myself and my goal is to see all the countries in the world. I have been to 35 already and have a lot more to go. I owned a local personal training studio in Old Town Alexandria for 10 years and have really enjoyed helping the local community get fit. I was born in Battle Creek, MI and then moved to Plantation, FL and then we move again to Atlanta, GA. I went to school at Michigan State. I have lived in Old Town Alexandria for 16 years.
Matt McKinnis purchased this townhome in 2000
When I moved to Alexandria, VA I was told the Old Town was the place to live not DC. After exploring I fell in love the with the charm of the city and how easy it was to walk around. My townhouse is right in the middle of everything and just a half block off of King Street which I love.
I fell in love with 107 King Henry Ct because there are only 8 units in the complex. We have an amazing courtyard, which is tucked back off the street. We also have off street parking, so you do not have to find parking every night you come home. The townhouse itself is perfect for me, since it has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and just the right size for me. I also love the back porch, which is perfect for relaxing and having a cocktail.
Matt, the owner, was a pleasure to work with, and the town house was very comfortable. It is very well equipped for your stay. It is small and vertical, so keep that in mind. It has a lovely patio that really expands the house. You are literally a walk away from everything in Old town and DC. The bed is comfy, with plenty of closet space. I really enjoyed my stay here!
We spent a week in this lovely condo while visiting area friends and relatives in January. We had everything we needed, from a big comfy king-size bed and a complete kitchen (with icemaker and dishwasher) to two bathrooms and extra sleeping space on a sofa bed if we had needed it. The condo is very nicely decorated with comfortable furniture and is full of beautiful artwork. Lots of books, movies, a big TV with Netflix (I think..I am not the technical one!), and nice views out most windows. We walked out King Street almost to the Potomac, or you can ride the King Street Trolley for free. Lots of shops and great restaurants right close by. Due to the weather, we did not use the sweet private patio out back, but it looks to be fun in warmer weather! We would stay there again, for sure. The condo is three floors, with no bathroom on the ground floor, so do be aware of that. The ground floor is full of light: a living room with a fireplace, dining room and kitchen. The next two floors up are a bedroom with a full bathroom and then a TV room/sofa bed with a shower bathroom. The owner was very responsive for the few questions I had. And an assigned parking space was a true bonus in an area where on-street parking is few and far between. One thing to mention: At the front door, the step up into the entryway is a little high, so watch your kids and elders! A really nice place to stay in Old Town.
I stayed in this townhouse for a month during the Christmas holiday. The location is great. It is in the heart of charming Old Towne. All the shopping and restaurants you would want are available, and the Metro is also within walking distance. The owner, Matt always made himself available when I had questions or needed something.
We had a great time in Old Town Alexandria staying at Matt's townhouse. I've stayed in other places in Old Town that don't have a reserved parking space, which makes it awkward (you have to move your car during the night if you park on the street or in one of the lots), but this one does have a parking space. The location is terrific, right off King St for convenient walking to everything, but tucked away inside a quiet block. The townhouse itself is immaculately clean, nicely decorated, pleasant, and comfortable. The King-sized bed is very comfortable. We made use of the kitchen and the grill. We went to Jackson 20 for Thanksgiving dinner, which was delightful. We also enjoyed walking down to the Potomac and looking at all the shop windows and walking to the historic houses. The walking is very nice. The walk to the King St/Old Town Metro station is only 10-15 minutes. Matt was responsive to every question or request we had. Thank you, Matt!
The townhouse is beautiful, set back off of South Henry Street; it is very quiet, spotless, and is wonderfully decorated. My adult son came with me, and we both loved the Egyptian pieces. The townhouse is less than 1 block off of Washington Street and is easily accessible to the free trolley that runs up and down Washington Street. The King Street Metro is only a 5-10 minute walk away, too. I left at about 6 AM one morning and there were plenty of runners and other commuters on Washington Street. I had to do some work at the townhouse, too, and the kitchen table was ample for my laptop and papers. There are loads of nearby restaurants, and we did a combo of walking/trolley riding to get to a Safeway supermarket to get breakfast food. There is also a Trader Joe's nearby. When I had what turned out to be a silly question, Matt responded quickly and in good humor. I highly recommend staying here!
There were a few things that were difficult. One big comment: This is a good price for the location and what you get. That stated, let's move to the challenges. There's no access to a washer and dryer. We were there only 4 days out of 7 weeks of traveling - renting homes for the entire 7 weeks. With a toddler, you need access to a washer and dryer. If you are only coming for a short stay, I'm sure this wouldn't matter. It is not set up for a toddler. I asked the owner to get rid of a glass planter that would be likely damaged by my toddler, he agreed and then didn't do it. My toddler didn't touch it, but there was stuff everywhere and it is simply not Toddler friendly. This place is within a courtyard of other condo like homes with three stories with the kitchen and living room with cute fireplace (no tv in this room) and no bathroom. On the second floor, there was a very nice sized bedroom with a king sized bed. On the third floor, was a smaller room with a pull out couch and a tv that sits at the floor level. Kitchen is small and almost all of the space is filled if you are going to buy dry goods. We made due, but if you plan to cook in a bunch, it's a bit rough. Truth is that if you want to spend a lot of time inside, this is probably not your place (or the location you want). If you want to have people visit, it's pretty tiny. Now on to the many good things: (1) There's a parking spot you can use. Priceless in this area. (2) You are directly next to King Street and it is an incredible location for the money. (3) Did I mention there was a super huge bed? Really nice. (4) I was a bit disappointed at first that this wasn't a stand alone house facing the street. Then I saw the courtyard and parking spot. It's better than having a house facing out on a busy street... especially with a young kid. (5) There is a back area with a grill and table. It's the only place to put people visiting and if it's nice enough outside, it is probably pretty rare for a smaller place. (6) security was good. (7) neighbors were really friendly and inviting even though this is a rental where they own in a nice courtyard. It didn't hurt that we have a very cute little boy running around outside, but that aside, it was an inviting environment. (8) location location location... good value for where you are. (9) beautiful art on the walls
