Casa del Vescovo is a luxurious mountainside retreat offering accommodation for groups of up to ten (10) people sharing in a beautiful and characteristic house built in the 12th century in the shape of Roman tower and located in a medieval hamlet.
The space available for rental is situated on two floors, offers complete privacy for guests.
The space comprises 2 double bedrooms (1 en-suite), 1 luxurious master bathroom and a mini-suite containing 1 double and one single bedroom mini-suite separated by a “Jack and Jill” bathroom on the first floor; The ground floor consists of a 2 bedroom mini-suite, also separated by a “Jack and Jill” bathroom, a guest toilets in the hallway, a kitchen and dining room, a laundry room and a veranda is annexed to the house which is suitable for relaxing and dining. The large secluded garden containing a BBQ, external shower and loungers is also available for guests to enjoy.
A second floor apartment, which is occupied by the owner, commands stunning views of the valley below from the 30 square meters terrace. This apartment sleeps 4 with 1 queen size bedroom and another with 2 single beds in a mezzanine and could be considered for rental as a total house package.
The house contains a deconsecrated chapel which is accessible externally. Locals speak of the secret tunnel which connects this chapel to the Monastery at Montecasale built by St. Francis of Assisi in 1192. The famous Alpe della Luna is a 10 km trek from the house.

Sansepolcro is reached from the E-45 highway which is used by guests arriving from Rome and Perugia airports to the south or Bologna Airport from the north. Guests arriving Pisa Airport take the A1 in the direction of Rome, exit at Arezzo and then take the SS73 to Sansepolcro. When in Sansepolcro find the Via dei Montelfetro. At the junction with Strada Communale Della Montagna is the Hotel La Ballestra and take this road (to the left) to Montagna (8km). When you reach Montagna take a left past the trattoria di Vasco Ristoro Calisti to reach the house which is signposted. Perugia San Egidio Airport is 50 minutes drive by car, Bologna Airport is 2 hours drive, Rome Ciampino Airport is 3 hrs drive, and Pisa Airport is 2.5 hours drive.
The home is strategically located on the St. Francis way, the famous route between La Verna (AR) and Poggio Bustane (RI), at the foot of the Tuscan Apennine Mountains, a 15 minute drive from historic Sansepolcro. There are many local walks identified by CAI on the local Grande Escursione Appeninica. The space is Ideal for family getaways and reunions, walking groups, work retreats or romantic breaks, and a stay at Casa Del Vescovo will be memorable adventure. There are two typical Tuscan restaurants located in the village just a 3 minute stroll from the house. Sansepolcro is famous for the Civic Museum containing the Resurrection by Piero Della Francesca, and the famous Aboca Museum containing a history of medicinal herbs locally produced.
Our central location affords the possibility of day trips to Arezzo, Cortona, Siena, Assisi, Perugia, Rimini, San Marino and Florence. For this who wish to avoid the larger cities there are several small medieval villages such as Anghiari, Monterchi, Citerna & Caprese Michaelango (the birthplace of the great painter) within a short drive if the house.
Tours of local Wineries, Olive Oil mills, farms famous for cheese and honey production can be arranged. Also a visit to the Busatti Weaving Mills, in Anghiari famous hand-crafters of opulent fabrics for 8 generations, can also be arranged.
Rates provided are for up to 10 persons sharing per night with a 7 night minimum stay on the ground and first floors consisting of 2 mini - suites each containing one double and one single bedroom and two (2) double bedrooms as described above.
Alternative arrangements can be agreed for the entire house.
A rental of the entire house to include the second floor apartment could be considered for rental as a package but this option would incur increased rates.
