About the property

2 bedroom, 1 bath RIVER Cabin; MAX of 6 ; Hot Tub & Fully Equiped Kitchen; Pets

Accessible features are throughout this 960 sf log cabin, including an access ramp and oversized door openings. Built in 2015, as a rental cabin, Sycamore Landing is perched on a solid concrete foundation high above the river, due to flood zone requirements. This one story cabin has one bathroom, two queen sized bedrooms and a sleep sofa for a maximum of 6 guests. We have a well with a whole house water filtration and sanitizer system and an 80 gallon hot water heater so you won't run out of water. We are dog friendly. There is 320 sf of covered deck overlooking the river, and an additional 500 sf of open deck with a gas BBQ, dining options, hot tub and wonderful views on the side and front of the cabin. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full size gas range, refrigerator/freezer with ice maker, dishwasher, microwave, belgian waffle maker, panini press, coffee maker, crock pot, mixer and other small appliances. There is a large selection of pots, pans, bake ware and dishes. Fishing, tubing and canoeing/kayaking to the site from a nearby river access point and with local outfitters makes your water adventures come right to the lot. Tubes available on site. Fish in your own front yard. You are surrounded by numerous caverns with ones in Luray and New Market being the closest. Both the Shenandoah National Park and George Washington National Forest are nearby for outdoor activities. The area boasts lots for all family members to enjoy; golf, hiking, antiquing, waterpark, winter sports, Civil War area to name a few.(The Owner will forward an extensive list for you to use in planning your trip upon reservation.) Enjoy the melodious sound of the C&S RR as it passes by the cabin along with the sounds of nature. If it rains you will enjoy listening to the rain drops on the metal roof. If you are lucky you may see one of the bald eagles in the area from the deck. A large TV, local TV stations, DVDs/VCRs featuring old movies and TV shows are all there for your use. We have built Sycamore Landing to the standards we want when we travel and know you will enjoy your stay here in Page County, hopefully it will be with us.

CLOSE TO ACTIVITIES: Luray Cavern (caverns, museums, outdoor activities) - Luray - 15.7 miles (19 minutes); Shenandoah River Adventures (tubing, kayaks, canoes) - Shenandoah - 7.1 miles (12 minutes) ; Mountain Top Ranch (Horseback Riding) - Elkton - 12.7 miles (24 minutes)

MILITARY: If you are active duty, honorably discharged or retired military member please let us know as discounts are applied for your service. (proof required). We waive the minimum age of 25 for primary renter for active duty military.

LAW ENFORCEMENT AND FIRST RESPONDERS: Current and Retired Law Enforcement and First Responders please let us know as discounts are applied for your service. (proof required)

NOTE RATE: We charge a flat fee a night (plus State/Local lodging tax and a new VRBO user fee) for up to 6 guests and your pets. There is no extra cleaning fee and all paper products, linens are included. There is no mandatory security deposit, but you are responsible for any damages.

NOTE: Due to the location, cell phone service varies. Service improves when the leaves are off the tree, as well as varies by vendor.

As of February 2017 we do not have WiFi -due to limited accounts in our area, and no line of sight to any towers. Local computer center has $1/month per person charge for unlimited access and vendor hot spots sometime work.

NOTE TO ALL: VRBO charges a service fee to you, our guests, that we cannot change and have no control of - it is a sliding fee based on the rental rate --it goes from 4-10%.

NOTE SUMMER RENTERS: We can drop off our guests with the tubes provided, a mile upriver and you can enjoy a nice float right to the cabin on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. Just let us know 72 hours prior to you arrival so we can coordinate schedules. For longer runs we offer drop offs and there is a river outfitter in Shenandoah with tubes, kayaks and canoes.

NOTE WINTER RENTERS: Winter Renters, you are off a secondary level State Route (650) that is plowed by VDOT. We live a mile away and have driven an ATV with plow, multiple times, to the cabin last winter during construction/fit-out for access to clear the drive...so if you read reviews of other cabins having difficult winter access, we do not believe you will have any problem at Sycamore Landing - should you be the lucky ones that are there for a snow fall.

About Alison Lyons and Jeff Ecroyd

Built in 2014 and opening in 2015, we built this log home to provide a place to relax, reflect and refresh from hectic lives and to enjoy all the wonderful activities here in Page County and the Shenandoah Valley. We retired in 2013 to a property that is 1 mile from Sycamore Landing, a cabin in the woods which initially served as our weekend get away. Sycamore Landing was built with the renter in mind but with the express purpose of being accessible for disabled veterans and veterans in medical care. The cabin is owned by a retire disabled USAF MSGT and his retired Engineer wife who spent her career in commercial construction retiring as a Project Manager. We have both lived overseas and travelled extensively in the USA. We want you to enjoy your stay so if we can help you please let us know.

We offer discounts to all Retired, Honorably Discharged and Active Duty Military. Disabled Veterans may qualify for additional discounts.

Fantastic cottage! A great place to get away.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary with our two dogs at this wonderful cabin. The owners responded quickly to any questions and did an amazing job providing information on the surrounding area personalized to our activities. The cabin was immaculate and had everything we needed for our stay. The porch and hot tub offered a great place to relax after long days in the park. Thank you Alison and Jeff! We would definitely like to return to your cabin.

Perfect JMU Graduation Stay

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect in so many ways! We rented this home for my stepsons graduation from JMU. The owners were so friendly and wonderful to communicate with. They went above and beyond and left treats for out dog, local jam and JMU cups for us. The home layout and every aspect was well thought out and every detail was just perfect. Although the weather was very rainy, we still throughly enjoyed our stay. We would've liked to have been able to use the tubes etc.. but the Shenandoah flooded from all of the rain. The beds were very comfortable and the home was perfect for the 5 of us and our dog. We really appreciated being sent the list of things to do. We went horseback riding at Mountain top ranch and ate at many of the recommended restaurants. We were pleased with all of them. This home is on such a beautiful setting and had everything that we could have needed, including rain ponchos and umbrellas. As a vacation rental home owner myself, I must say that the owners payed attention to every detail and thought of every need that a guest may have. We cannot thank them enough for opening up this beautiful home! Thank you!!! We wish that we would have found this place sooner because we would've spent more weekends there while visiting JMU. I highly recommend this property!

Peaceful accomodations in the most gorgeous setting along the Shenandoah River

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed 4 relaxing days at Sycamore Landing as part of Spring Break 2017. We had an awesome time with our two kids and Portuguese Water Dog. It was fantastic to include the dog! The cabin is the nicest rental property we have ever stayed in, including some multi-family mansions at OBX. The owners thought of everything which meant we had to worry about nothing. We enjoyed cooking in the firepit (meals and s'mores), fishing (caught bass and catfish in a local pond), hiking on Skyline Drive and just being away from home where we would never relax. Thanks for a great getaway Allison and Jeff.

Perfect Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 nights in this lovely little cabin and it was everything we could have hoped for - and more! Our boys loved spending the days playing by the river, playing games on the huge front lawn and inter-tubing in the river. My husband and I enjoyed a glass of wine in the hot tub every night under the stars. Our dogs loved how comfortable we could be with them there. All of us enjoyed hiking through the Shenandoah which was so easily close!

The house had every amenity that we could have ever wanted. And we felt so very welcome from the minute we walked in the door. All and all, there's nothing negative that I can say other than that I wish we could have stayed longer!

A wonderful cabin

  • 5 of 5

It was my birthday getaway weekend. Thanks Alison and Jeff for making my birthday getaway more special with all of the decorations and special notes.

The cabin is fantastic, very spacious and clean. The kitchen stocked with everything more than we needed. The bathroom was beautiful, cleaned and has plenty of towels. There were plenty of tubes and games. Our dog really enjoyed swimming in the river. The views from the desk was fantastic. We would highly recommend this cabin.

Thanks again Alison and Jeff,

From Jed, Roger and Leo
