In planning your next vacation, consider "Ansel Camp" on Harvey's Lake in West Barnet, Vermont. Surrounded by green grassy rolling hills reminiscent of Switzerland and dotted with hundreds of cows and farm animals, this location is a slice of heaven. No traffic lights, no big box or department stores, this is one place where you can relax and slow down. Once you've stayed a few days, you won't want to leave.
Ansel Camp is a newly renovated 3- bedroom, one-bathroom cottage located just 10 feet from the shore of Harvey's Lake. "Lakeside" has real meaning! You can hear the lake lap its shore from the dining room and porch bedroom areas -- very relaxing. Built in the 1950s, it is an open studded cottage situated on a double lot with 150 feet of water frontage. Its swimming area has an easy access with a shallow gradient, has sandy bottom (no rocks) -- perfect for young kids, older folks, and all who enjoy the water. The cottage enjoys the sun all day long, but there is also shade behind it during the afternoons.
The cottage is one story for easy living, and has an enclosed front porch dining area that offers spacious views of Harvey Mountain, and memorable sunsets overlooking Harvey's Lake. Behind it looking west, you'll see the beautiful farms and fields of Danville and Peacham. It has a well-supplied kitchen with fridge, range, and microwave. There is also a gas grill. It sleeps 6 (max.) in 3 bedrooms (two with full beds and the third room with two sets of bunks). For chilly evenings, a a new Rinnai heater can provide extra heat.
Outside, there is a firepit and outdoor chairs for roasting marshmallows under summer moons. An outdoor shower is perfect for warm weather. Listen to and watch the loons and their babies, or eagles, all day. The cottage is on a flat grassy area perfect for playing games, reading, or hanging out. Parking for no more than 3 cars at any time.
