About Harriet Barker
This property has been in the family since 1959 when William Harvey Windes purchased the property. A few years later Jim Windes, Bill's son, pitched in on another parcel. When Jim's parents died the property was split with Jim retaining the parcel this cabin is on. His brother's cabin next door burned down in the Wallow Fire. Jim finds travel to Greer difficult but wants this special place to be around for the family into the future. His son John helps take care of the rental.

Why Harriet Barker chose Greer
Because it's the best place in Arizona. It's that simple.
What makes this Cabin unique
John spent his summers here as a kid with his grandparents and cousins. He spent every day wandering the creek and fishing every hole and run until he knew it like he knew a best friend. As he got older he brought his sons up and continues to enjoy hunting and fishing the Greer area with his family. The best part about the Greer cabin though, is just sitting on the covered deck, listening to the creek burble or the rain patter while sipping on a hot cup of something. More often than not you'll be wrapped in a blanket, even in summer. This is high country.

Beautiful, relaxing, just what we were looking for!
A quiet and very well-kept cabin. We had a wonderful and relaxing time in Greer, and we are already looking forward to our next trip.
Our week in Greer was all we hoped for... we had perfect weather, saw many of the area’s wildlife just steps from our “home”, and journeyed on day trips to places we had heard of, such as “Coronado Trail and Sipe’s AZ Refuge”.
Thank you, Harriet, for having all we needed, clean and welcoming. Another spot in God’s Creation for which to be thankful!!
This is our 2nd time staying in this lovely cabin. Our favorite thing about this place is being able to sit on the deck and watch all of the wildlife come right up close! Truly an escape from the city! :)
Lovely, quiet, peaceful place
And Harriet is a most attentive hostess! The little town of Greer has two very good restaurants but no general store.
We pulled in the driveway and said "Aaah, just what we were looking for!"
LOVED our 5 night stay at the Windes cabin. My husband and I were looking forward to escaping the heat of Verde Valley, AZ for a few days. As we approached the cabin from the driveway, we saw 4 comfortable patio chairs (2 rockers and 2 Adirondack chairs). Also extra chairs, foot stools and side tables. Bird feeders on the pine trees close to the deck added a nice ambience. Better still, the owners/manager provided bird seed in a metal bucket on the deck. We bought whole peanuts in the shell for the feeders, and were constantly amused by Rocky the Squirrel, Alvin and the Chipmunks and the Blue Jays taking them to store away for Winter hibernation.
First impression of the cabin itself: kitchen well stocked with all sorts of cookware, dishes, appliances, etc. Mattresses very comfortable, sheets and bedspreads soft and clean, bath towels bright white and absorbent. My husband and I are career hospitality and hotel employees and were impressed by the cleanliness of the residence and small, friendly touches (Guide to Arizona Birds, a cook book for those looking for inspiration, tooth brush holders in the bathrooms, games such as Yahtzee, Monopoly, etc in the guest bedroom closet).
Manager Harriet Barker was friendly, professional and immediately responded to the very few questions or requests that we had. (another sponge, check, more towels, check, more soap, check)
Is the place perfect? No - certain painting, flooring and fixture updates might be due in the near future. Will we be back? YES, absolutely. It feels like home. Looking forward to our next visit.
Sunrise Ski Park 18 miles away with new summer activities including zip line.
