Newly Restored 1 Bedroom Bungalow W/View Of Columbia River & Washington Syncline
About Martha Koerner
I grew up in Portland and live there now with my husband and two daughters where we both work in design. We frequently visit the gorge and Mosier to visit my brother and his family and to enjoy the beauty and activities of the area including, biking, hiking, paddle boarding and exploring. We use the home ourselves and are excited to share it with you.
Martha Koerner purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Martha Koerner chose Mosier
I had my eye on this house and its mate next door for years as they fell into neglect. They were built in 1915 and they are a part of the historic fabric of Mosier. When they came on the market, I was excited for the opportunity to bring back their dignity and charm. My brother lives very close by and is a contractor who specializes in restoring old homes which, of course, was key to the remodel.
What makes this Cottage unique
Sitting on the front porch lets one take in the immense landscape of the Columbia River Gorge and, at the same time, slow pace of a small town. The house has a great feel, a wonderful place to relax. Restoring and renovating the house was a labor of love and has served as a place for my creative energies including the making installing of the tile, the garden/patio and some artwork and furnishings.

Perfect little Columbia gorge stay
The little red house was perfect for the two of us! Martha was available for questions and she put in a lot of work into making this house a great stay. The house is very clean, comfortable and had all that we needed to explore Mt. Hood and the Columbia gorge. Hope to come back again soon!! Thank you so much!!!
Cute little place
Nicely remodeled old historic small home.
A small, beautifully designed cottage
We loved our new, modern, and beautiful cottage in the best location in the gorge. Well equipped, decorated in calm neutrals with a lovely front porch where we enjoyed a glass of wine each evening, Mosier was close to everything we enjoyed- hiking, fruit picking, lavender farms and the waterfront. Great get away!!
This was one of the nicest places we have stayed. Great location between Hood River and The Delles. We think it is perfect for a couple, but four would be a little cramped. We appreciated the coffee and chocolate. Both were really good! The owner, Martha was really nice and easy to contact. We highly recommend the Little Red House!
inviting and impressive
I was a bit uncertain about paying so much for such a small house, but the high quality of this property made it worth every penny. Comfortable bed and bedding, immaculately clean, well equipped kitchen, great location in a quaint town, and fantastic view of the Columbia River Gorge. We had friends over for dinner one night and sat on the front porch into the evening on a beautiful late spring night, enjoying that view. There is a great coffee shop just a block away and a convenient small market for wine, beer and groceries. We had just two of us and the compactness of this property would make me reluctant to have more adults than that, but the sofa does pull out as a bed if necessary. The Little Red House was a wonderful refuge for us after a day of sightseeing and adventure in the area.
Good home away from home.
We had a wonderful stay at the Little Red Cottage. It was clean, comfortable and quiet- a good respite after a day of hiking. The cottage is airy and bright with sky lights but has window shades for privacy.
The kitchen is well equipped and we had everything we needed including basic staples, coffee filters and condiments in the bottom drawer. Be sure and check that drawer before going to the store. We appreciated the coffee that Martha provided. Martha was easy to contact for questions or concerns. Good location for us- close to trails, short drive to Hood River, relaxed environment at the end of the day. Will definitely rent again if we are back in the area.
