New York Loft-Style Apartment in Canberra’s CBD
About L’Abode Accommodation
Straight off the family sheep farm on the Kiwi Isle I landed in Sydney sans gumboots and to a lack of short-term fully furnished accommodation. Complaining about said predicament over a glass of Pinot led to an ‘Interesting Idea’ presenting itself: If only people were willing to rent out their homes while they went away on holidays! Extra travel dollars for them, unique alternatives to a hotel and a genuine local experience for travellers like myself! Minus a car and laptop the whole growing a business idea was going to be a little problematic. L’Abode was born on my bedroom floor with the support of a GoGet car and a part-time job to pay the bills. I started with a handful of owners who agreed with me about my ‘Interesting Idea’ (kudos to them!) and the whole thing started to gain legs. L’Abode soon became a team of two (me and my long-standing marketing guru) and L’Abode’s collection of properties quickly doubled. Then tripled. L’Abode’s rapid expansion resulted in my landlord terminating the lease on my apartment due to ‘highly suspicious’ key drop-offs. And thus it appeared, the need for an office and more staff was imminent! From its humble Sydney beginnings L’Abode now boasts a fast-growing collection of bespoke properties Australia wide. With spaces ranging from quirky inner city lofts to luxurious estates in stunning destinations, L’Abode offers the 5 star luxuries of a hotel with the freedom, space and comfort of a real home. We look forward to welcoming you into our collection. Lisa

This property has a great location, especially for visiting Floriade. It's also within walking distance to the main shopping precinct. The secure parking was great although the parking entrance is a little tight for larger vehicles. The apartment is very comfortable for 4 people, a little cramped for 5 but having 3 toilets worked very well for my older travel companions who need the facilities in the night. It was very clean but obviously well used. The downstairs split system is a little temperamental and maybe needs a service. The downstairs toilet has a small leak and needs the float valve adjusting, The main ensuite shower soap holder is a little loose but fine if you don't knock it.The clothes dryer is quiet slow. There was no dishwashing liquid or laundry detergent, and no coffee or sugar so take your own. Having said that, I would stay there again as none of these small items affected our stay. Check in at the property was OK but it took us a bit to find the carpark, find the lift and then work out what floor we needed to go to. Once we got that bit sorted, coming and going was a breeze. It was a great location for day trips as it's close to main roads and we often found ourselves home quite quickly, yet once inside, its a quiet little haven with beautiful views of Black Mountain. If your are visiting Canberra, this is a good base.
This apartment is a bit dated and needs a good clean, it is within walking distance of the city and easy to get around. There was an overkill with the communications before we arrived, I’ve did mention this to the agent and they will look into their IT auto replies, I have never had to sign such a detailed agreement when staying at other sites, however when talking to others I’ve been assured that Canberra is expensive and has different expectations when booking accommodation, it was good visit and kitchen was equiped with enough to be able to cook up a good breakfast and dinner after a day out exploring the sites. I would stay again.
Great location but poor property
The property is nicely located in Civic area but the property has poor maintenance with taps following out of place and shower heads not working properly. Also, the cleanness of this apartment is very average.
Thank you for the feedback Wang Yu! This is already been actioned by our property manager. For the cleanliness, if you had problem, You should communicate with us and we would be happy to assist you. Communication works both ways. We will communicate with our cleaners about it :) L'Abode Team
