About this property

Colorado Springs Mountain Ranch cabin for a vacation in the Pike National Forest

This Rocky Mountain ranch is completely surrounded by the Pike National Forest and is located within 20-30 minutes of Colorado Springs for city/tourist activities by scenic gravel mountain road once used by stage coaches to reach the Cripple Creek mining area. It's a few miles out of town, but it's a different world...

This amazing cabin is best suited for at least the semi adventurous. Located up a dirt, mountain road that can be seen on YouTube by typing in "Old Stage Road Colorado Springs" Be sure that you are comfortable with the road before you make your reservation.

The cabin is beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. A one-third acre trout-stocked pond is just outside the cabin door with c/r fishing allowed. The Old Stage Riding Stables is on property for horseback riding with viewing of elk and bison on site.

The Perfect Mountain Experience!!!
I brought my 4 kids to Colorado to see the mountains in all their beauty and found the perfect cabin on a beautiful mountain. The drive up was scenic and breath taking and the lcabin was cozy, but with all the amenities you could ever need. We had hours of fun on the Trout Pond, hiked the mountain trails, made the short drive to Pikes Peak and Garden Of the Gods and enjoyed a perfect trail ride at the stables followed by an amazing BBQ dinner at the Stage Stop Cantina. The property owner was more than accommodating and helpful when needed and always quick to respond to communication. We will definitely be back and hopefully soon!

Hugh and Mary Ann love horseback riding in the Pike National Forest.

Why they chose this property

We have known this property for well over 40 years. My husband knew it from his first day in Colorado in 1957! Something so close to the city, yet in the midst of the mountains gives us such a thrill of time-warp: living a bit of yesterday with today's comforts. This is much more than a rental property for us. It is very much a part of who we are.

What makes this property unique

The Old Stage Ranch cabin allows you the freedom to be on your own in an extraordinary setting for as much of the time as you choose, and then drive off to the city and join that life with all it has to offer. One can hike, horseback ride or mountain bike in areas of breath-taking beauty where we seldom can take the time to be in our day-to-day lives.

More gregarious types will venture down to the stables and partake of the group or individual rides from there. It's a small ranch with many horses, bison and elk and a variety of animals such as miniature horses, donkeys, sheep and goats, guinea fowl, ducks, turkeys, and peacocks. Sometimes there are even young bison or elk. These little guys change from year to year and season to season.
