private cabin on 8 acres in the mountains separating the Napa and Sonoma valleys
About Laura Waldbaum
Ray and I enjoy all aspects of nature. We love hiking, and fishing and especially backpacking to places where we can really get away from it all. Ray grew up a city boy but has become a true country gentleman. He does the wood cutting and splitting and all the tractor work around here. I grew up in a rural area and just love every aspect of "Country living" , especially my chickens, orchard and vegetable garden.
Laura Waldbaum purchased this Cabin in 1969
Why Laura Waldbaum chose Santa Rosa
Ray's parents, Herman and Anna, bought this property to use as a respite from their hectic lives in Los Angeles. They would come here to relax and recharge. The cabin has been used as a refuge by our family for almost 50 years. When our Kids had grown and moved on to their own lives Ray and I moved up to the property full time and built a new house up the hill from the cabin where we now live. We hope that our guests will enjoy a few days in the cabin as much as Herman and Anna, Ray and I and our children and grandchildren and we love to share it.
What makes this Cabin unique
This property offers the best of two worlds. Because it is at the end of a private road we feel secluded here. We can't see any other homes or hear any neighbors. Yet we are 15 minutes from town with many first class restaurants and other amenities.

My family and I stayed her for a wedding we were attending at a local winery. The minute we drove onto this property we started to unwind. It is beautiful and Laura showed us a few things we needed to know regarding the cabin. She definitely made us feel welcome . Throughout the cabin she had little vases of tree clippings and the name of each type of acorn tree on the property. Such a sweet touch. She also had fresh eggs from her chickens on the counter and Peet’s Coffee for the morning. Our first morning my husband and I enjoyed watching the deer and sitting on the deck. My kids enjoyed feeding the chickens. I wish we had more time to relax and enjoy the solitude and re connect with my teenage boys( who did not have access to their cellphones since there is no service 😂). Thank you Laura and Ray for being great hosts, Hopefully we will be back.
wonderful property ,very peaceful and easy to maneuver,Laura made it super easy to stay and tell us how it all worked. It is not a place to stay if you want to tour the cities in the area. Excellent place to unwind and enjoy the quiet. Thank you for a great stay ,will be back.
I am so glad you enjoyed it! We love being "out in the country" where it is quiet and peaceful yet an easy drive to the local towns of Santa Rosa (10 miles), St Helena (12 miles) and Calistoga (18 miles). The best of both worlds, relaxing in nature between day trips to Sonoma County's attractions.
Great Spot to Getaway
Quiet. Peaceful. Great spot to take a break from the crazy city life and disconnect from phone/laptop/tablet/etc.
Laura was very welcoming and the cabin was very clean. We had a great weekend in Yountville watching baseball and relaxing away from the crowds. We would stay there again.
Get away from it all
It was wonderful to be able to sit and just listen to the birds and insects for hours at a time with nearly zero human noise to intrude. My wife saw two deer, which is always nice.
This is the place to unwind and commune with nature.
A true gem
What a gem, the place in person is even better than the pictures.
Everything was clean and welcoming.
Laura was an excellent communicator and made sure we had everything we could need or want during our stay. I slept like a baby in the country! Thank you!
The cabin is located in the Myacama mountain ridge which separates the Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley wine regions. We are located on a private road off St. Helena Rd./Spring Mountain Rd.
