This is a beautiful property that can accommodate a fairly large group comfortably. Unfortunately the one attribute we selected the property for was deficient. This is no doubt unususal as I'm sure most people do not select a property for its billiards table, but in this case we did just that, as some of those in our party are avid pool players. The table in the residence is in desperate need of refurbishment. The rails are unattached and dead to the point that balls don't even carom off of them. Assuming most people wont care about the pool table, the property is otherwise perfect.
Perfect Place for a Big Group
This place was amazing!!! The space was perfect for accommodating our big family - a bunk room for the kids, on suite bathrooms for the adults, a huge kitchen, and multiple living areas. Add to that the incredible view, hiking trail right out the back door, and quick access to town and we were in heaven. We already have plans to return to this beautiful property again and again!
Beautiful house and views!
Beautiful house on the mountain, close to shuttle and the center of town. Would definitely stay here again and again!
The house was beautiful and the view was breath taking. There was plenty of room for everyone.
Everything was as the picture had shown on the web site. However, the main window needed to be replaced in order to enjoy the full view of the mountain. There were other windows also that had moisture and needed to be replaced. The cleaning was done very poorly. Without a/c, we needed to use the ceiling fan in the main family room but it was very dirty. The cob webs had not been removed from the wreath on the fire place. One frying pan was put away but it still had something on it from previous cooking. Nothing is mentioned in any document about the towels. We kept them clean but wondered if they had been commercially cleaned prior to our arrival. Breckenridge is very fun place to be and we enjoyed our vacation a lot. As previously stated, the views from our home away from home were awesome! We look forward to another visit to the Breckenridge area.
Thank you for taking the time to review Dunkin Hill Lodge. Breckenridge is a great town to visit and we are glad that you enjoyed your time. We do apologize for the cleaning items including the cob webs on the wreath and dust built up on the ceiling fan. It only takes a couple of days to gather! All of the linens in the home are cleaned commercially in between all guests. We are happy to report that since your stay, all of the windows with moisture in them have been replaced so that the incredible views are no longer impeded. Additionally, the home has all new kitchen appliances to enhance the home away from home experience. We hope to see you again soon!
Overall I would give our stay a 2.5 star rating. Below is a list of issues that need to be addressed:
The water is non-potable. We went through (7) 30 packs of water. You can not cook or drink this water. The smell was awful and the stains in the toilets, sinks and showers were unacceptable. Some of our guests did a couple loads of laundry (not thinking about the water) and any clothing with white on it turned orange. Two weeks later our hair still has the odor of the water.
The cookware was horrendous. Nothing a trip to WalMart would not take care of for $100.
The oven door did not close completely.
We TRIED to use the grill the first night we were there. I'm guessing the regulator needs adjusted? We had to bring the burgers inside and use the cook top. We thought about bringing steaks to cookout one night. Sure glad we didn't.
The hot tub was a joke. The maintenance man came the second day we were there. That evening when we went to get in and it was COLD. The filters were plugged up also.
None of the bathrooms had toilet paper holders. The rollers were all missing.
The couches and love seats smelt like animals.
It was conveniently located to Breckenridge. The house is very spacious and beautiful.
For the price this home rents for we did not expect to have all these issues.
We appreciate your feedback on Dunkin Hill Lodge and are sorry for the issues you encountered. Had you let us know, we could have taken care of all of them during your stay. This home is on a well and the spring snow runoff can church up some sediment with warm temperatures almost overnight. When it turns colors, it needs a simple filter change, which occurred when the cleaners reported the water color after your stay. The hot tub was cold after the hot tub tech stopped by as he did a full clean and water change in the tub. When this happens, it can take up to 6 hours to get back to temperature. All other items you mentioned have been remedied as well. Once again, thank you for your feedback and we hope you enjoyed your vacation.
This property is amazing!
Beautiful home with plenty of room for our entire group! The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook meals during our stay. The beds were actually very comfortable (which is a huge plus when you're on vacation). The property was very clean and there were no issues with things not working properly.
I would definitely follow the 4 wheel drive suggestion, as the driveway is pretty steep and icy, but manageable with a 4x4.
The short walk to the free shuttle stop made getting around town really easy. We all loved this property, and the stunning views around it. Couldn't have asked for a better stay!
