Wonderful house in perfect location
This house was just fabulous, located in my hometown, less than a mile from the house I grew up in. It was comfortable, spacious, and everything worked as it should. I stayed for over 3 weeks, during a very rainy weather cycle when Vermont was flooding a LOT. I was comfy in this house and would definitely rebook in the future if the host would have me!!

Great home in a great location
Very nice home-- spacious and well-maintained. The host, Jamie, was highly responsive when we had a question about the door code. Highly recommended.

Host profile image
I am a retired educator of 42 years as of June 2022. I have painted most of the house over the years and left much of its character, I believe, in the process. We recently added insulation to the basement and a heat pump to the rear room (the one with the skylights), which has made this once cold room (it didn't have any heating previously!) into a great place to hang out. I love photography and try to have some beautiful images in the rooms. We added a new stove, refrigerator, and clothes washer in the summer of 2022. We also added some basic lawn furniture, new pots and pans, a wonderful inflatable bed and other small things. I greatly value the outdoors and having quiet spaces in which to read and relax as well.

Why they chose this property

We are both in love with the outdoors and have found that where we live is wonderful. Our property is located in an area that allows one to quickly get into some wonderful natural areas. It is also close to the Brattleboro farmer's market and to a few local farms that sell amazing produce. The main portion of Brattleboro is less than 10 minutes from the house and we love the movie theater (you have to go there), and activities like Gallery Walk (the first Friday of each month) as well as the Vermont Center for Photography and so many other things in this area. Great restaurants and some pretty amazing stores too.

What makes this property unique

There are some great events that take place throughout the year (Running of the Heifers is pretty cool), and Brattleboro has a nice cross country skiing area about 10 minutes from the house as well as some really amazing cross country skiing areas in under an hour (Prospect Mountain is great too and has snow late into the season). There is also ice skating near the house, some great ice-cream over in Guilford, Ice Fishing, a cool ski Jumping Competition in February and from the house you can be downhill skiing in about 35 minutes.
